  1. To whatever team signs Bellinger, I think it will be an unmitigated disaster. 3 bad seasons followed by 1 good when he absolutely had to be his best to get a big contract. 🤔 Once he lands a nine figure deal I foresee a steep drop in production.
  2. Me: That wasn't 30 years ago! Does math. Me: Daaaaamn... Can adult diapers be that far off?
  3. The Cubs did Ross dirty. I fully agree with that. And I think CC has blood on his hands as well. I don't condemn CC for taking the money, but I no longer think he's a good guy.
  4. This is fairly common for baseball message boards. Sons of Sam Horn, a Red Sox site that has been around for about 25 years, has for many years had significant Yankee fan contributors to the site. The differing points of view are welcomed there and the discourse is quite civil. Apparently Brewers fans are more provincial than Red Sox fans...
  5. Something is going on here that we, the fans, should be very concerned about. Hopefully someone like Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich of The Athletic can do some digging...
  6. Paying a manager less per season than Jesse Winker is insane? I disagree.
  7. Clearly Mark A. cultivated an atmosphere in Milwaukee that CC could not abide, regardless of the money. MA has screwed up big time. This is all on MA. I don't blame CC at all.
  8. I knew when Counsell refused to sign an extension with the Brewers and let his contract expire he was gone.
  9. So there are people who believe Jimmy Hoffa was buried in the middle of a professional sports stadium in the middle of the season? And the proof is some writing on a playing card found 45 years later? Those people should be involuntarily committed to a mental institution.
  10. I miss County Stadium. Modern ballparks are all flash, no substance. They do nothing for me. You can keep your gargantuan video scoreboards, blaring music, and overpriced food.
  11. I've been told in this thread that Milwaukee and Cleveland have a much better organizational situation to win now vs. the Mets.
  12. Three things: 1) The challenge 2) Working with someone you already know and get along with 3) $$$
  13. The Mets have David Stearns now. Big difference. When Andrew Friedman left the Rays for the Dodgers it very much concerned me. Someone as smart and efficient as Andrew Friedman now having a huge budget. It paid off big time for the Dodgers and now the Mets are in a similar position.
  14. My point is that people take extreme/emotional positions because of the passion involved. And reading the interpersonal hostility in the last two pages pretty clearly establishes that. 🙂
  15. No one cares where a teacher works though.
  16. Unless his agent is a total moron, he will have a decent idea of what someone like the Dodgers or Padres or Mets would offer him if he was non-tendered by the Brewers.
  17. The Dodgers will unless the medical reports are heinous. The Dodgers have way more cash to roll the dice than the Brewers do and they do it all the time with injured pitchers with a high upside. In fact they did it with the Brewers own Corey Knebel and Jimmy Nelson.
  18. I can't even remember at this point--did Woodruff engage in substantial extension discussions with the Brewers previously? Do we know if he turned down any extension offers that would have put +$100 million in his pocket? As it is, the Brewers need to non-tender the guy. It sucks but the Brewers are not the team that can be paying a guy +$10 million for a season to not pitch.
  19. There's a reason CC has not signed a new contract with the Brewers and it's not because he wanted to contemplate retirement. He easily could have signed a new contract and then retired if he decided that's what he wanted to do. He wanted to be free and clear of any contract with the Brewers so he could see if the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. And while there's not a lot of grass in Queens, there is a lot of green. As in money. If Steve Cohen wants CC to manage the Mets it's going to happen.
  20. Stearns fired Showalter. So I'd say CC is a step closer to becoming the Mets new manager. If you want to think CC will never leave for the Mets you are free to think that. We will find out for certain soon enough.
  21. DFA'd This turned out pretty much as I expected it to. Although I must admit I didn't see Anderson making it to the end of September before the DFA.
  22. He wanted to move to the Mets but MA wouldn't let him go while still under contract. So they put him in a time out for a year.
