  1. This is the ugly side of fandom. Sick.
  2. How about we let the facts develop before engaging in reckless speculation and accusations? Oh wait, this is the internet...
  3. A healthy 31 year old two-time Cy Young winning pitcher, coming off a Cy Young season settling for a 2 year deal is not a win for Boras under any analysis. Period.
  4. Snell lacks the consistency and durability to be worth the money on a long term contract. He should have taken the 150 from the Yankees. While it's possible he will outperform 6/150, I wouldn't bet on it. And he just did.
  5. Signed with the A's for $2.5 million (with a possible $1 million in incentives). So he lost a good chunk of change getting released by the Giants ($3.3 or $2.3 million).
  6. Multiple stress fractures in the back sounds like a chronic issue. Unless someone recently body slammed him or he was in a car accident. But I'm no orthopedic doctor so I have no level certainty.
  7. Not true. MLBTR has backtracked. SF will pay Davis $1.1 million (30 days pay) and nothing more. SF would not have released him now if they were going to be on the hook for $6.9 million. MLBTR writers are not well versed in the nuances of the CBA. But you know who is? Farhan Zaidi.
  8. For now. I don't know that the Dodgers will get Adames, but I'm pretty certain someone not currently on their roster will get the majority of starts at SS this season.
  9. Manipulating service time is a violation of the CBA. The practice needs to be stamped out. The cavalier way people view it is troubling.
  10. I've said this before, but I'm 100% convinced there is more going on behind the scenes than we know that significantly contributed to CC and Stearns wanting out. I don't think it's nearly as simple as CC getting more money and Stearns wanting to run his favorite team from childhood.
  11. Substantive labor relations between the MLBPA and MLB must be really good if this is what the MLBPA wants to spend their time complaining about.
  12. Isn't that what ESPN+ is that is available right now? ESPN content in a streaming format?
  13. I don't blame him at all. The system allows teams to abuse players who are playing year-to-year for their contracts. And the system is made to reward relief pitchers who earn saves over pitchers who throw two innings in the 7th and 8th to get the team out of a jam. Hader is no fool.
  14. I wish Bally/Diamond Sports just went belly up and have the rights revert to MLB.
  15. The slander of Jim Gantner in this thread is outrageous. I guarantee you that in the future Gantner will still be fondly remembered by most Brewers fans and Rhys Hoskins will probably end up in the category of "Did that guy once play a season or two for the Brewers?"
  16. If Hoffman, Fingers, Sutter, or Smith got in on this ballot you might have a point. Mauer and Helton are clearly superior to Wagner. It defies no logic for Mauer and Helton to get in on this ballot and for Wagner to not get in.
  17. It's pretty easy actually. Todd Helton - 61.8 WAR Joe Mauer - 55.2 WAR Billy Wagner - 27.7 WAR One of these is not like the other two.
  18. Who would have thought the Dodgers and Mets could make the Yankees seem like tightwads? Amazing.
  19. 5/135 for Mr. Glass doesn't seem like a good investment. Maybe Andrew Friedman is going to sign 15 fragile but super-talented starters (cost be damned) and hope he can get enough starts of them combined to cover a full season.
  20. I have no substantive comments on the Brewers ownership structure but I am pleased that I can get Johnsonville original bratwurst in the Phoenix area. My favorite bratwurst. Not that Usingers and Klements are bad...
  21. I'm not sure why anyone on this board cares what state, if any, Ohtani pays taxes to or when.
  22. Because the CBA says it is.
  23. This is a good read. The massively deferred contract is not the tax dodge people think it is. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/why-shohei-ohtanis-contract-structure-is-not-a-luxury-tax-dodge.html
