  1. Well duh...thank you for this. That's the fun of a fan board right? Getting to speculate on decisions and discussing with other fans how you would manage the team?
  2. Bright side of Williams struggling early this year is guys like JP are being forced into high pressure innings. Only going to help in the long run...
  3. Just get in the playoffs and shorten that rotation to Burnes, Woodruff, and Peralta... With the days off in the playoffs you could go Burnes, Woodruff, Anderson rotation and have Peralta coming out of the pen piggybacking the starter every other game. In a 5 game divisional series you get Burnes and Woodruff starting 4 of the games and Peralta pitching in 3 of them.
  4. I won't pretend to be a hitting expert but it seems fairly obvious that his double toe-tap isn't working. I can't remember but did he do this in 2019? Have heard it discussed on a few broadcasts already that doing this makes it easy for pitchers to mess with his timing. Seems to make sense based on his inability to hit a fastball. Hopefully when he goes to Nashville or the ATS his approach gets scraped and they work on a new stance for him. Let him go down and get right and then he'll serve almost like a mid-season acquisition when they bring him back. Could be a nice catalyst for the stretch run if he can figure it out.
  5. Nope, Narvey pinch hitting for him. Too bad Hader was scheduled to hit. Maybe CC let's him pitch another inning if he wasn't supposed to hit. Wonder if a double-switch might’ve happened Taylor for McKinney if we hadn’t pinch hit Taylor earlier in the game. Not a knock on Counsell, just the way the game unfolded, but curious how strict they are being with Hader as a 1 inning guy now.
  6. Only 13 pitches from Hader that inning too. Coming off few days rest...if Counsell were ever going to use him more than 1 this would be perfect opp.
  7. This would be an interesting discussion...especially considering there’s another thread discussing long-term extension possibilities for Woodruff and Burnes.
  8. Cmon he has had 30 ABs this year, his power hasn’t turned Sogard level...small sample size that looks more extreme since its early in the season. Last year was his career worst year yet half of his hits went for extra bases.
  9. Glad to see Shaw have a close call go his way. He’s had some hard contact that were outs last few games. Anybody else feel like he fouls off way more pitches during his ABs than other players?? Do you make anything of that?
  10. Is it possible to have concern, and also hope/not think it's going to be a major concern? It would seem that by reading this thread that a few posters have already decided that Yelich is suddenly injury-prone, will be lucky to play 100 games/season the rest of his Brewers career, and his contract is going to be an enormous albatross for the team moving forward. I think that is the thought process that sveumrules is attempting to refute. I'm not going to lie and say those thoughts haven't crossed my mind as well, but I sure as heck aren't ready to will them into reality yet. Because those thoughts are extremely depressing. I have some minor concerns, mostly about the management needed. Yelich will probably, by the end of the deal, move to first base or be the designated hitter. He may need days off, there maybe there will be a need for a DL stint or two a season. I think this is a good take here. Back issues unfortunately don’t get better as you age so management will likely be needed. The DH coming to the NL should be able to help out with this. Posters suggesting Yelich’s contract could turn into a franchise crippling mistake though I think need to take a deep breath. Throwing out 7 seasons of constant improvement from him because of 250 at bats last year, in what was the most unusual MLB season of all time, is a dramatic jump. It’s fair to think that he won’t continue his MVP level play but he is still an all-star level hitter and his floor those last few years will probably be much closer (likely above) to Braun...who I think majority would happily take as DH this season.
