    TBH, I thought it was no big deal to trade him because I didn't think THAT much of his hitting. (Reason 78,965 why I am not a GM.) Maybe he needed to be "rejected" before he could bear down and shine.

    There was some debate here recently about what is the "ceiling" for this road trip. But the only sure thing, so far, is that we have found the floor. Yeah, it was against the high and mighty Dodgers, but 3 runs in 3 games will pretty much always get you 3 losses. (And you can't write off that level of miserable consistency as simply "bad luck"!) The road doesn't get any easier tonight. Blechchchch.

    Notice how the talking sports herd has never gushed (so far) about the "red hot" Brewers? And yet, somehow, we have been in or near first place for 3+months. Go figure. Steady wins the race!

    A few weeks ago I was listening to the Padres' radio b'cast. (They're good, BTW; I really like T. Gwynn, Jr.) and they were specifically talking about how much of a "homer" (or not) you have to be in order to be honest and popular. The conclusion is that those 2 things are not necessarily in conflict: You must be honest; you need not be mean. It was a very candid discussion. EDIT: the Kevin Brown deal was absolutely a disgrace for the Orioles. Their owner is probably a big fan of the current Russian dictator. He's at least an imitator.
