  1. I think that's basically what we've all said all season really. He's been horrible and it would save us his salary and the buyout at the end of the year. Any middling prospect will do just fine thank you. The real question would be...who would actually want him and what would they use him for?
  2. The Dodgers intrigue me...what can people tell me about Zach Lee (sorry, I"m not that up on the minors like everyone else here is). Dee Gordon is an intriguing guy too...would they part with him?
  3. Sure, but that doesn't mean we have to trade him today. We could trade him anytime this weekend and he could easily start for a team Sunday or early next week. I wouldn't put him back on the mound for the Brewers until after the deadline passes and we still have him for whatever reason.
  4. I hope Melvin waits this out, the deadline is still a week away yet. No need to rush into a deal today. I wouldn't let Greinke pitch again for the Brewers, but I'd make sure I field all possible offers and the longer we hold out, the better the chance someone gives up more for him. IMO.
  5. I'm very leary of taking any Braves pitching prospects. They usually keep those to themselves and seem to very rarely let anyone go that actually has success. Weren't a lot of us on here saying Delgado wasn't that great when the Cubs got him? Now everyone suddenly wants him?
  6. The White Sox? That's a new one that I don't think has really been discussed. What do they have to offer? I'm asking because I don't know honestly. I'm already prepping myself to be completely underwhelmed by whatever Melvin does. Other teams are landing good prospects for rentals, but I just have zero confidence we'll do the same.
  7. Chalk another one up to the stellar crew known as the Brewers bullpen. Only Axford looked good, go figure.
  8. They can't do anything until Greinke goes out and pitches tomorrow and looks healthy. Nobody will want him right now after we skipped a start for no reason.
  9. That's the only place I've seen that and he doesn't site even an anonymous source. I googled it and didn't get anything on him rejecting it yet so I think that's speculation or other people would have tried to get more information on it. He likely will reject it but I don't think thats the case yet.
  10. The problem with the offense is that it's all boom or bust. It was that way with Fielder too, just a little more boom obviously. It also doesn't help to keep putting out lineups that include Weeks at .195, any combo of Izturis/Ransom with a .200 average and Morgan is just not helpful. Throw in the fact that our pitchers have been basically useless at the plate this year and we have 4 guys that are almost automatic outs, plus less power without Prince. Makes it pretty hard to score runs consistently, even if the runs per game are about the same.
  11. So if it's pretty accurate according to Greinke....what does that mean? That he rejected it? Melvin's comments seem to say that. That he is contemplating it? That he is going to counter? Makes it even more confusing.
  12. Slightly off topic. But is it that impossible to think that K-Rod comes back to close next season? Axford may very well never find it again (see Turnbow, Derrick)....K Rod could come back as the main closer. Not sure what that would cost, but the closer market last year wasn't that expensive really....
  13. If that second number is true, the Brewers did everything they could (and then some) to sign him and if he turns that down, thats it. That's way more than just window dressing.
  14. Yeah, Houston actually seems to be building something good for a few years down the road. Good thing they'll be in the AL.
  15. from MLB TradeRumors: It’s time to consider the Angels and Rangers superpowers, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports writes. Lucrative regional TV deals, an abundance of star talent and the flexibility to make further moves have turned the Angels and Rangers into imposing organizations. Both clubs have both scouted Zack Greinke and Cole Hamels, but the Rangers view those pitchers as rentals and are hesitant to part with top prospects for either one. The key word there is "hesitant". Not unwilling. Hold firm or try to play the Angels and Rangers against each other and maybe we can pry one away.
  16. Sure, it sucks to see our former prospects shine in other places (Lawrie, Escobar, Odorizzi, etc), especially when guys like Greinke and likely Marcum are long gone off the Brewers roster. But that's the risk you take. No way to know for certain those guys will pan out...just ask the Indians. That being said, yeah, we gave up those guys, but it also provided me with the most memorable Brewers moments of my life (I'm 30 and was barely alive in 1982). Seeing CC on the mound against the Cubs, being there for the division title last year and then watching the Morgan hit to win the series are moments that are etched into my memory bank forever. Sure, we fell short of the ultimate goal, but we were that close and to me, that heavily outweighs watching our former farmhands become stars in other places. Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread.
  17. It's one thing for a team to ask "hey, don't start this guy today if we're trading for him tonight", but I can't imagine them saying, "don't start Greinke for 2 weeks". What if the trade falls through? We just benched him for no reason, and benched him in a stretch that is basically the breaking point for the season. It makes no sense. It's either a trade that goes through today (for Feliz let's say), or something is wrong with him health wise.
  18. This series is obviously huge, but it's really the 12 games before the deadline that matter. Realistically, they have to go probably 8-4 or 9-3 during that stretch to be "back in it" before the deadline. This team hasn't really shown it's capable of doing anything close to that. Especially when those 12 games are @ Reds, @ Philly (who is playing much better now), Washington and Houston. Maybe they get rolling, but I think it's more the record after the next 10-12 games than just this series. Granted, if they kept swept, it's over.
  19. You guys listen to music when you run? I'm doing my first half-marathon in 3 weeks here and I'm having a hard time finding enough music to fill 2.5-3 hours. What does everyone have on their ipods for running?
  20. Pretty much. Sure, they still have a chance, but it's pretty small. Realistically, they need to win probably 8-9 of their next 10 games (including a minimum series win against the Reds), just to get sorta close again. Sure, it could happen, but other than the Dodgers series, this team hasn't shown it's even remotely capable of doing that so people are just looking ahead a week or two here.
  21. I think at least a small portion of Cain's "betterness" has to do with the fact that he pitches half his games in SF. It's a very large park, with weather that much of the time makes it very difficult to score runs. I'd have to imagine if Greinke pitched games in SF, his ERA and HR allowed would drop as well.
  22. I'm very interested in one, but is there anyway we can see even an idea of what this will look like (like the Cain picture), before committing to purchasing one?
  23. Can we move Wolf to the bullpen instead? I wonder what they'll do when Marcum is ready. Fiers has definitely earned the chance to keep starting, Estrada has been surprisingly good and Wolf has sucked all year. Of course, Greinke might be gone then anyway.
