  1. DM and RR have said that the next 9 games will determine if they buy or sell, so for the next 2 weeks, I can understand not starting a guy who has never played at the MLB level before for two guys who at least have hit the ball. It may not be much, but as we saw in Conrad, just because you can hit in AAA doesnt mean you can hit in the majors. Then why call him up right now? Let him play down in AAA and continue to develop as a young player, then bring him up in 2 weeks.
  2. While I think Ersan is a good player...it just makes no sense to me given the current makeup of the roster and their recent drafting of Henson. Gooden, Ersan, Udoh, Henson, Sanders...when is everyone supposed to play? Even if you let some of them play center there isn't enough room for them all. I sure hope there is another trade in the works here at some point, we have way too many PF's and not nearly enough guards. Or small forwards for that matter.
  3. Weeks turning it around may help us win some games, but it won't be enough to make up for the significant part he has had with all of the losses so far this season. It's to the point where this season is close to being over IMO. The last two games were right there for the taking (tonight especially) and we find a way to give them away to a team that quite frankly is pretty horrible. This is either the beginning of the end or the point where they look back as the bottom and the spot they turned it around. I see that last option being very unlikely with the current roster.
  4. Parra has a very easy inning, 2 lefties coming up. Yeah, let's take him out for a guy that can't get lefties out. Good thinking Ron. Mark this down as yet another game he made it harder for us to win. Yeah, it's not his fault Axford can't throw strikes, but that move was his fault and that pushed across the game winning run ultimately. The Conrad move was also horrible.
  5. In fairness to Pryzbilla, he did have a pretty long career and is still somewhat servicable as a backup C. Alexander was a complete and total flop that was out of the NBA within 2 years. Good thing we didn't draft Brook Lopez. You know, because we had Bogut and we couldn't possibly figure out how to make them work together. I don't know who I want in this draft, but I'm sure Hammond will screw it up. I wouldn't mind Jones or Zeller I guess.

  7. Braun is slowing losing some ground. Need to keep voting for him. I'm guessing fans are going to see him in line to start and many will vote against him due to the steroid thing. Hope he can hang on another couple weeks. Even though many of the votes are likely Brewers fans (see Weeks total), many of them are not and it would go a long way for Braun to move past this offseason stuff by winning the fan vote.
  8. I already called dibs on Magnifico's jersey with my friends in the event that he ever makes the majors. Can't ask for a better name. Sounds like he only throws the fastball and nothing else, though he has touched 103 MPH i guess. Teach him any other pitch and move him to the pen I guess.
  9. 2nd round selection is in...Tyrone Taylor. High school CF from CA. Report from MLB.com draft tracker: A two-sport standout (he's a running back in football), Taylor has some good raw tools that scouts are bound to be intrigued by. His speed helps him on both sides of the ball, and he profiles as a leadoff type who can steal bases, and as a solid center fielder. There is some debate about what kind of hitter he can be, with some projecting more power to come, and others thinking he'll largely be a gap hitter. It may take some time to come together, but the tools that are there could get the Cal State Fullerton recruit drafted in the early rounds.
  10. When does the draft start today? And how many rounds get picked?
  11. So who is left for us to target with our next pick? Anyone still on the board that shoudn't be?
  12. The time has come for the Brewers to realize that they have too much talent to be sitting in 5th place, even with the injuries. It starts tonight!! Get to .500 and then go from there.
  13. Robbing a bank and betting on baseball are pretty different from each other IMO. Robbing a bank has federal and states laws that require you to serve time in prison or whatever the punishment is deemed to be. Pete Rose broke MLB's rules. There is kind of a big difference there. Rose wasn't subject to prison or courts or a fair trial, he was subject to MLB's punishment. Nobody is saying he should get off scott free with his violation, but maybe he's served enough time at this point. And does being banned from playing/managing baseball mean you shouldn't be in the HOF? Yes, it's MLB's HOF, but MLB doesn't have much to do with the selection of players, that's done by the writers and whanot. I personally don't feel being banned by MLB from coaching or playing should mean a guy can't be in the HOF.
  14. I don't think Sullinger will flop as badly as Tractor Traylor, but he's a guy I definitely don't want. I think he' soft, whiny and thinks he is great and I don't see any of that becoming NBA success for him.
  15. I'm not so sure about that. I can think of numerous times in the past two seasons where Hart has sac bunted, often times when he was batting 5th. Now whether that was his call or Roenicke's I don't know. You're right, he has a few times now that I think about it (though i seem to recal him doing that on his own a few times), but with this lineup, in the 2 hole, it would seem much more unlikely to occur. Just looked it up, he has 15 career sac bunts in over 3000 plate appearances.
  16. The difference to me would be that if Aoki reaches first base, they would very rarely, if ever, ask Hart to bunt in the 2 hole. He's one of our top run producers and hasn't really bunted much in his career, even in a sac situation. So it ties Ron's hands in most cases so that he can't possibly take the bat away from Ryan Braun.
  17. Has this replaced the actual Power 50 on this site? That one hasn't been updated in almost a year.....
  18. You don't take the bat out of your best and really our only offensive threat. If that's the winning run at home, maybe. But he did it in the 5th inning with a 1 run lead and again in the 8th inning with a 2 run lead. It was clear as day that with 1b open, you don't pitch to Braun in that spot. Aoki is hitting .300+, play for the big inning. Having him bunt is a huge mistake. Sure, maybe Aoki moves him over natually and they walk Braun, and that's one thing, but by bunting, it's just way too easy to walk Braun and then face Ramirez, who is much less of an offensive threat than Braun is these days. There's also the chance that maybe Aoki gets a hit or something crazy and then Braun could hit with 2 men on. It makes absolutely no sense to sac bunt in front of your best player, just so they can promptly walk him. I was irrate when it happened both times last night. Just another example in my opinion of RR making it MORE difficult for this team to win games.
  19. It's not against the rules for him to resign with us. To have a deal in place before we trade him seems like it would violate rules though.
  20. Article on cnnsi.com this morning claims the Brewers will move Greinke if we are out of the race because dollars/years in an extension aren't that close right now. Of course, they supply no source of any kind, nor any quotes from anyone within the Brewers organization. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/329722-if-theyre-out-brewers-will-shop-greinke?eref=sihp&sct=hp_bf2_a4
  21. Parra has actually been very good out of the pen this year. Based on his past struggles with starting and the fact that he isn't stretched out....I would leave him alone and let the young guys have a shot. Can always try him later or next year if they fail.
  22. Is there any chance that anyone with an impact bat makes it to any of the Brewers picks? Doesn't really matter what position, but anyone with very good power that we could possibly take with one of those 3 picks we have? I know we usually take best available, but with so much emphasis on pitching lately, we just can't ignore the offensive side of the game in our minor league system another year in my opinion.
  23. They have to fall way, way out of it to consider trading him. And even then, they might not, as they will offer him the arbitration (even with the new rules) to get the compensation for it. Any chance they have to resign him I think is likely contingent on him staying here all year and loving it. As awful as we've played, we're only 5.5 games back....this season isn't totally lost. Yet.
