  1. We have options. Send McClendon or Dillard down and bring up another starter....like Peralta and leave Estrada in long relief. RR should have skipped him and used Estrada today when Marcum sucked. The bullpen was destroyed as it was before today.
  2. Did Altuve just take a pitch up and in on 0-2 and hit a double to right? Seriously?
  3. Sure seemed that way on Gamecast, that he was definitely struck out once for sure, if not twice. Was it that bad live?
  4. Gamecast has Snyder struck out looking TWICE...only to have them both called balls. And he promptly gets a hit and scores a run. Awesome. And maybe it's just me, but the shift has hurt us way more than helped this year.
  5. So again, gamecast only, but 2 of those pitches to Lee were clearly marked in the strike zone. As was the first pitch to Lowrie. And now the third pitch to Lowrie. Ugh.
  6. Someone just drill Altuve already. That guy is getting on my nerves!!!!
  7. So annoying. I just hate when we can't execute with a man on third and less than 2 outs. Back to back guys there with K's. At least we got the one with the wild pitch. Need Marcum to throw up a zero here.
  8. Just hope the offense can keep up and maybe we can win a slugfest. Hasn't been our strong suit this year, but maybe they started to turn it around last night. And hopefully Marcum can settle down and at least get through the fifth. The HR yesterday not withstanding, anyone else getting tired of watching Weeks at bats?
  9. What is going on with Marcum here today? 3 walks, 4 hits and a hit batter and a wild pitch in the first 2 innings? Someone mentioned earlier he may be getting squeezed some, but even still that's pretty bad. So much for him saving the bullpen today.
  10. Most of the pitches seemed pretty close, but it's hard to tell on the gamecast. They did show the highlight of the Martinez double and it was on the outter edge and low in the zone, just a good piece of hitting. At least we got him the lead back!! Be really nice of Marcum could go deep or if this could be a blowout win and we can let some other guys finish. Really need to rest that pen a little bit.
  11. Only have the gamecast up, but not a good start at all here by Marcum. Seems to be struggling with location.
  12. A win today would give us a 6-3 homestand and a record over .500....which would be pretty impressive given our bullpen struggles and lack of offense.
  13. I didn't really get that impression from Hart in ST, though he could have voiced it in private...but i seem to recall him saying he would play there if thats where the team needed him or something like that.
  14. Yeah, his wife said that he was taken for x-rays after the game and they all came back negative so he's likely just sore. Hopefully just a day or too, as Ishikawa in the lineup really irks me. Wouldn't this have been a great time to try Hart out at 1b and let Aoki/Morgan/Gomez man the outfield? Weren't they going to do that anyway? I'd much rather have Hart at 1b and Morgan/Aoki in RF, than Ishikawa starting anywhere.
  15. Not that I want Derek Lee right now, as Gamel is doing just fine...but this just goes to show you how much some of these players value themselves. He had offers from multiple teams to be a backup or platoon player, including a team possibly in contention like the Brewers but was too proud to take that type of role or less money than he feels he's worth....so instead, he's basically being forced to retire at this time. He was definitely fading, but I think he could have contributed to a lot of times still.
  16. I retract my previous statement...RBI doubles are good from him too, lol.
  17. Is it bad that I want Ishikawa to not do well so they finally fix that mistake and bring up another normal infielder?
  18. They had no choice but to send him down. They put Gonzalez on paternity leave. This does give the ability to replace him on the roster - which they did with Farris. However, MLB rules state the maximum number of days a player can be on paternity leave is 3. Saturday, Sunday, Monday - off days count. so the rule dictates that Ferris had to go back down, it wasn't a choice they made. Gonzalez is scheduled back today (and was originally scheduled back yesterday), so unless they were going to make a different move or put him on some sort of medical leave (which I'm sure would require many more days off), they had absolutely no choice but to play yesterday with only 24 players.
  19. My initial thought is academics, not playing time. I have no basis for that, but when you look at all the comments and the whole situation, it just seems that something weird is going on. Maybe he was homesick, maybe he couldn't make the grades. Who knows. Stinks though as he was a guy that I thought really could contribute the next few years.
  20. The comments from Greinke don't give us much hope do they. I wonder if that Cain deal really put a wrench in things or if they really were far apart the whole time or if it's all just a smoke screen. Greinke called it a "longshot from the beginning". That doesn't even sound remotely good.
  21. I'd be all for giving Rickie a day off. Unfortunately, that means Izturis has to play....so absolutely not. Please correct the stupid roster mistake and bring up Conrad or Green.
  22. Morgan's weak arm isn't anything new. It's just something teams will tolerate as he still plays pretty solid defense most of the time and gets on base. When he stops getting on base, as he's done this year, this is when things like his arm and the Tony Plush thing start to get annoying. Hopefully he can get it together or they need to let Aoki play more. Not saying he should be benched after a few bad games, but it's something to watch I think.
  23. They gave him an infield single, and then an error on the throw. So the error only moved the runners over, and then another hit followed. I am not watching to see if that's the right call or not, but that's how they scored it. Everyone here seems to think he was out if Gamel covered first base. Making it easy for Garza too it appears....16 pitches total over the last 2 innings.
  24. I'd send Dillard out before Parra. Though I don't think either one is going to make it. Just saw the gamecast highlights, and yeah, it sure looked like at least 3 of those were just blatant bad luck (Clevenger, Soriano and Stewart all really could have been outs).
  25. When the shortstop makes a perfect play and throws it to the perfect spot, it's not his fault if the first baseman decides to play a different game by running to second base. Edit: sorry it this came off as nasty. Just one of those days. No worries, didn't take it nasty anyways. I'm on the gamecast, so I shouldn't jump to conclusions about Gonzalez...I really disliked his signing and wanted to jump on him for a third error. If Gamel doesn't cover first....well I can't defend that. Just frustrated.
