  1. This is off topic, but something definitely reset with the views. The Braun one was over 100K at one point last week I think.
  2. I hear you on this, it's been awhile. I just wish that all 4 of them weren't pitchers. The lack of impact bats coming along scares me an awful lot.
  3. See, it's people that Tom Verducci that just irritate the crap out of me. Now, if he is found guilty, MLB could choose to reduce the suspension if they want. That is their right. However, the aribitrator is an INDEPENDENT person in this process. If he finds Braun to be innocent and rules it that way, then there is no suspension. Period. I honestly don't think he gives a rats butt if that messes up baseball's testing process or not. It's his job to make sure that he sees the case right down the middle and makes his ruling accordingly. Am I missing something there? Isn't that why he is involved in the first place?
  4. And that's about what's happening this year. They barely lost to Georgetown in a game they should have won, the lost to Syracuse by 7 (though this was a blowout), and ND hammered them. Win that GU game, and they are right there for the conference title. Still with an outside shot I guess, but nothing wrong with a top 3-4 finish in the BE. Yeah, it's a little down, but that can also just be that there are a lot of good, strong teams, as opposed to the 2-3 great teams the conference usually has.
  5. So if it's the week AFTER next then, we're talking somewhere in the 40 day range, possibly longer. That's a tad absurd for something that per the guidelines should have "every reasonable effort made to be handled in 25 days". We're talking about it taking close to twice as long as it's supposed to. That just doesn't seem right or fair to anyone involved, especially since this has been made public.
  6. Big game for Wisconsin tonight too, I don't know if this team can pull off a win at MSU but we'll see. Win would get them right back in the title picture. We just seem to lose crazy heart-wrenching games there.
  7. So it appears that Gardner is out AGAIN this week against UConn. This will now be 5 games missed I think about 3 weeks of action. For an injury that was "day to day". 3 weeks huh. This just feels like the Otule injury. He's hurt, might come back, we get no real information on it. Listed as week to week, then eventually, just, yup, he's done for the year. I know they don't really have to release a valid injury report in college, but MU is really horrible at this. If you're going to list someone as day to day, they shouldn't be out 3+ weeks. I don't buy the "this makes it harder to prepare for MU" angle either. It's not like a QB in football where it could be completley different.
  8. Lin is scoring a lot of points, but his turnovers are SKY high. Something like 40 or so in his 7 starts. Including games with 8, 8, 6 and 6. Thats an awful lot of TO's for a point guard. And yes, he made a three the other day, but he's not a great shooter. Its great he is doing well but the media hype is ruining him in a hurry.
  9. If Braun comes in and says that he took some combination of pills that were legal but it spiked a positive test, and he could prove it by retaking that same combination of legal stuff, with the same ridiculously high result, maybe he could get off that way? Seems far fetched though.
  10. That's what I'm saying. Both comments are virtually the same, the only difference is that when DP said it, he was quoting "a source close to the situation" or something to that effect. ESPN on the other hand is just making statements without saying they have a source or any knowledge of it, just making blanket statements. There is a difference there IMO.
  11. I think we all saw those Patrick comments. He didn't back off his stance at all or say his source was wrong. All he did was say that Braun might be "not guilty" as opposed to Braun is "innocent". Slightly different but not overlyso.
  12. I didn't hear anything about DP backing down from his initial comments. When was this? Did anyone else hear this? If this happened a few days after his initial statement, I would have thought this board would have been all over it, just like it was the first time he talked about it. The only thing I saw him change was going for saying Braun was "innocent" to Braun was "not guilty", not that he was rescinding his source or his information or anything. Anyone?
  13. If ESPN has a source, then they should be saying that. They're not saying "from what we've heard from sources close to the situation" like DP did, they're simply stating that Braun is guilty and is going to be suspended. And that is just simply poor broadcasting in my opinion. They don't have disclose their source, but at least say it. Otherwise, they are simply making an assumption about it and basically stating it as fact. I just don't buy a source anyone as I highly, highly doubt anyone at ESPN is close with the arbitrator, and even if he was, he has a legal responsibility to keep his mouth shut.
  14. Oh I agree that odds are that he gets suspended. My question though is that is Kurkjian just making that statement because he assumes he will be correct and that nobody wins these appeals. I don't know how he could have a source, as really this all rides on one man at this point and I highly doubt MLB and/or Braun has the verdict and is sitting on it....which is really the only way he could make a statement like "all indications" and not be just blowing smoke out of his rear end.
  15. What exactly are "all indications"? ESPN just assuming they reported correctly and that nobody gets these things overturned? Or did he seem to say he had a source of some kind?
  16. Marquette was a different team back, played a bit different style and was built differently but I'm not so sure DJO has that many more options than Wade had. One, Wade had a post presence in Robert Jackson (he averaged 15 and 8 that year). He also had Travis Deiner and Steve Novak both playing significant minutes, both were very, very good shooters who could knock down open shots, and both went on to play in the NBA. Scott Meritt was also on the roster and played. Novak was a freshman but still played. Deiner, Jackson and Merritt all averaged more than 10 points a game. I'm not saying that team was better, but I'd say it certainly had many other options that just Wade and I think it's pretty comparable to the current roster.
  17. Yeah, the seeding helps, but it's more who you are playing. Badgers have had some good things happen in that regard with some higher ranked teams losing in front of them, but they've also run into teams that just flat out couldn't miss and got smoked (Davidson and Cornell come to mind).
  18. Guilty or not, I wonder if Braun will struggle this year. He may put too much pressure on himself to produce - possibly to show that he is innocent and that he is putting up great numbers this year and to leave little doubt that he didn't cheat in previous years. Or if he is guilty, to try to make up for those missed 50 games and save the season so to speak.
  19. UW had a better team in 2004 (Harris' last year) and were hosed with a 6 seed so anything can happen I guess. If I recall correctly, wasn't the "tradeoff" for being a six seed the fact that they placed the Badgers in Milwaukee? I agree though, they got royally screwed that year and wound up playing Pitt in round 2. It was a matchup that most people thought should have been a regional final as both of them were badly underseeded. You just never know with the tournament committee. They move teams around to help with the logistics and whatnot, and sometimes they just seem to over/under value teams WAY more than the rest of the country.
  20. I just came here to post that exact article. It really sucks. Now maybe he won't leave, but this the problem with the NBA. They don't want players staying with their team. From all accounts, Jennings likes it here, but he realizes that he's better off in a big market where he can get more advertising, play with better players and be more relevent. He'd still have 2 more seasons here I believe no matter what. I mean, he doesn't say he won't sign one, but it's sure not a good thing that he's already thinking and talking about other options. It says he doesn't like the direction the team is going, and I can't really blame him on that. As we've all talked about, they are stuck in a middling rut, have no real tradeable pieces and won't be bad enough to really improve through the draft. Barring something changing, it sure seems like he's as good as gone. The better he plays, the more likely it becomes I think. Which sucks. We have a young, improving player, just shy of being an all star at the age of 22-23 and he already wants out.
  21. Well come on Patrick...did you expect that reporters, people that are paid to gather information and relay it to the public would actually do some research or know what they're talking about before spewing out their information to everyone? Talk about some unrealistic expectations....
  22. The problem is that they don't get to the line consistently. You aren't going to get a ton of FT just simply shooting threes and long jumpers. When they get there, they shoot pretty well, they just don't work that to their advantage. They don't attack enough, don't work the post enough to consistently get to the line. In most games, if you take away the last minute when we have the lead and teams have to foul, we probably only average like 8-10 FT attempts a game.
  23. Despite an huge meltdown in the last 8 minutes (gettting outscored 10-0), the Badgers got the win on the road. Wins are wings, but this should have been an easy one. Kinda funny how the team scores 51 points in the first 40 minutes, then 17 in the last 5. Can't complain too much about the win, but it's those type of stretches that really, really make me worry about tournament time. They just simply don't have the guy to give the ball to when they really need a bucket...hence why every game there is a 4+ minute scoring drought.
  24. I still think the longer it takes the better. I mean, if the arbitrator has that much to think about that he can't decide in 25 days, there must be a lot to consider. And if he's not sure, do you suspend a guy and tarnish his entire career over something you're really not certain is even legit?
  25. There was a blatant travel not called on Curry on a three pointer in the last 2 minutes. Enough so that ESPN replayed it and even Dick Vitale agreed. That was pretty bad. There was also a very, very questionable charge called on Barnes at the end too. That being said, UNC deserved to lose. They missed FT, played horrible defense in the last 2 minutes. On the last shot, Zeller was playing about 3-4 feet off of Rivers as time wound down. He's not going to go past you in that amount of time, and if he does, then at worst the game is tied. He should have been tight up on him and made him shoot over the top. Tough loss as a UNC fan, but they got what they deserved, though the calls sure didn't help. Oh well. Hopefully WI can handle MN tonight.
