  1. Blake Burke oppo dribbler grounder squeaks into LF with the SS shifting toward 2B and he drives home Perez. 4-3 T-Rats baby! Let's go! Bottom of the 7th. Men on 1st and 2nd for Eduardo Garcia.
  2. Restituyo is beginning to wake up. Two really nice AB's late. He just ripped a double to the deep LF corner. EDIT: I once again am pleased to bring you updates from two innings before @biedergb's posts. LOL. I am on geezer patrol baby.
  3. Flores just gave up a two-run game-tying jack. Lefty on lefty in a 3-2 count. Left that pitch dead center. 3-3 game. The inning started with a brutal drop by ol' friend Hedbert Perez in RF. He completely misjudged a liner. Went too far in casually. Had to race back. Had to leap. That's the second catchable ball he's dropped today as his on-again off-again defense continues. Anywho...when you are five games under 0.500 you tend to have reasons.
  4. The leading run was at the dish on Johnson but he induced the one hop liner to Made at SS who scoops to Adamczewski at 2B for the final out force out. 8-6 'W' as they move back to 10 G above 0.500.
  5. Six batters faced for LHP Bjorn Johnson. Four K's. 2 BB. He gets the 2-2 swing and miss on the outer black belt high change-up. One down. 8-5 Muddies in the 9th.
  6. 4-Hit game for Made who leads off the Muddies' 8th with a grounder single into RF. This one from the left side of the plate. What a talent.
  7. LHP Bjorn Johnson K's the side in the 8th frame. Man, I continue to just love this young man's game. Muddies still hold the 8-5 lead.
  8. I am personally less 'concerned' about Bitonti. He's striking out a bunch of late, yes. I didn't see a single game last week, obviously busy at the Draft. BUT, tonight, he's faced all lefties and his timing is just off. He's swinging at hittable pitches he just isn't barrelling them up. He also still leads the Carolina League in doubles. For the most part he's playing solid defense at 1B - outside of tonight's two snafus. I see a player battling but fighting himself. Wilken, I continue to see a passive hitter. A hitter who doesn't swing at enough hittable pitches. A power hitter who doesn't access his power enough. He is just entirely too passive and selective to a fault. Meanwhile, Lara just broke up the No-No (a No-No to me, perhaps, because I haven't paid deep attention) with a deep double to RF. Men on 2nd and 3rd. Two down. Can they capitalize? Cooper Pratt will try to do the damage. EDIT to ADD: I see you are ahead of me. I will hand the Shuckers to you, my friend. Nice to see I will see a tie game! Woot woot!
  9. Nashville just took a 2-1 lead in the top of the 5th on a ground out to SS off the bat of Monasterio and a balk. Meanwhile, Oliver Dunn just scorched a lefty-on-lefty first pitch triple that turned into an inside the parker after the throw to 3B caromed off his leg. 3-1 Sounds. Noice! That ball went off the RF wall. He turned on an inside slider (it appeared - we'd have to vet via Statcast). It will be scored a triple and an E9.
  10. Hunt just gave up a long ball. Shuckers trail 2-0. I believe they are being no-hit heading into the 5th? Haven't checked the box and they are on the second screen.
  11. Bitonti can round out his golden sombrero with a collision with C Yannik Walther. That's Bitonti's ball. Another defensive miscue leaves another RBI opportunity as Gillis works the 1-2 count and gets out of it with a pick-off move to 1B regardless. That's 3 errors on the Mudcats. I wonder how they'll score that one. I'd tally it to the Catcher.
  12. Meanwhile, Cargo just opened his fourth frame with a hanger that was absolutely scorched over the LF wall and off the cinder blocks in Gwinnett. Stripers now lead 1-0.
  13. Pratt and Wilken scorched two line outs to strand a runner in the Shuckers 3rd. They still trail 1-0. Meanwhile 1B Eric Bitonti's mini-slump continues. Going back to the recent series at Columbia, he is now 4-for-22 with 13 K through four AB tonight. He has a golden sombrero. He is just missing hittable pitches. Then he is pushing. He's faced only lefties tonight. He's had some hittable pitches he's fouled back. Rough rough stretch. Made several solid defensive plays and then had the original error to lead to those runs last inning when he flat out missed a routine grounder down the 1B side under his glove. He's got to keep grinding. The hits will fall.
  14. He certainly doesn't get lost in my shuffle. Actually, @Spencer Michaelisand I have been pumping him up since last season - honestly, when he was drafted. We've been huge fans. He's very very legit. Hopefully, tonight's exit was logistical and nothing else. Fingers crossed. AND Madé gains one back with a long ball over the video board in LF from batting righty. Whewww baby. Rocket. 408 feet. 107 mph off the bat. Yowza. 8-5 Muddies.
  15. I went back and watched Dinges' 5th inning. I don't see anything obvious other than he was stretching out his left leg a couple times. I didn't see anything of obvious note. He started and completed that frame. Let's just hope it was a planned swap out for unknown reasons. Maybe when he was legging out his triple? Hard to say. Nothing looked out of sorts on the throw out to 1B on the swinging bunt to start the frame.
  16. And Hunt misses an off-speed outside short and in the dirt. Bases juiced. 1-0 deficit. Bottom of the 2nd and we have a mound consult.
  17. Shuckers trail 1-0 after a swinging snort falls for an RBI single. Classic. Men on 1st and 2nd. Two down. Hunt will try to escape.
  18. Another RBI poke up the middle after a fly out to LF. 7-5 game. Roinks.
  19. Ground ball up the middle. 7-4 Muddies. Those were very obviously costly fielding misplays.
  20. And a 1-2 poke through the right side. 7-3 Mudcats. Runners at the corners.
  21. A botched scoop by Bitonti at 1B and a botched grounder to SS Made failed to corral when potentially trying to pick the runner at 2B has Gillis with two runners on and one down when he 'should' be out of the inning. Let's see if he can escape.
  22. Well, without warning, Dinges has been swapped out for Yannic Walther to start the sixth frame. Hopefully, he's fine and this is a planned rest (? Seems a bit odd). I didn't see anything but will have to go back and look at the fifth frame where he pounced on a weak rolling bunt up the first base line and fired a rocket to 1B.
  23. Marco Dinges. Man alive. Just scorches a triple off the RF wall for two more RBI. My goodness. That man can absolutely tomahawk lasers. Unreal talent.
