Rodriguez's issue right now appears to be location. Location. Location. He just isn't sharp. He is struggling to locate the outer half. And, with a line-up filled with lefty bats he is finding balls hitting center cut. -
0-1 pitch to next batter and Massey launches one over the RF wall. 2-0 Omaha - that was a fastball middle-in. Not a good pitch.

Rodriguez and Miz first batters: walks.

Very well done by Corniel to escape without a run. A pop fly to foul terriotry behind home plate. 2 K's swinging on much better located slider and breaking ball. Great recovery. 3 K's through 2 IP. However, he is already into the mid 40's pitch count.

Another hanger from Corniel hit to dead center and Yophery seemed to misread the ball (?) and broke late. Triple. Lead-off. Zero down. Corniel is not all that sharp early.

IOh hey it's a line drive single to RF by Nicasia. Huh. How about that? He extends his hit streak to 3 games. Diaz missed a long ball by a matter of inches. He crushed that hanger I have no idea how it didn't leave the yard. Deeeeeep to LF made at the highest part of the Left CF fence? Camera angles stink. Hard to tell. He was frustrated. The ball just died.

Camera angles are super poor in this one. A hooking line drive to the far LF corner eluded Castillo's run. An RBI double. Oppo. Corniel is getting hit early here. Mudcats trail 2-0. One down.

Diaz guns the runner down at 3B but the ump called 'something' (I believe he made contact with /something/?!) and the runner is sent back to 2B. Corniel then gets the batter out with a swinging K on a much better located slider off the outer half. Both managers are having issues with the home plate ump. Very odd inning here.

Corniel has now thrown wildly to 1B twice. His second one, here, goes out of play. That's two errors on these young Mudcats before a single out is registered. Ugly early.

Corniel walks the first batter (not particularly close) and then Augusta picks up where they left off yesterday: swiping 2B right off the bat. Diaz throws it poorly and into shallow CF. Runner advances to 3B. Corniel then hangs a slider dead center for an oppo line drive RBI single to LF. That was entirely too easy. Mudcats trail 1-0.

A Rodriguez fly out to shallow RF. A ground out to 2B. And a ground out to SS strand Baez at 3B. Every batter, to a man, went aggressively swinging at first pitches. Mixed results as we see.

Baez begins the Mudcats tilt vs. Augusta with a first pitch ripped stand-up double to LF. No angle on where the ball went but he definitely hit that hard.

Well, Nicasia is batting 6th. The move up the ladder has (hopefully) begun. I would like to see him continue to receive opportunities in the 3, 5, and 6 spots. I, personally, just want to see what this young man is capable of given more distinct responsibility in the lineup.

Can we casually talk about Legend Mike Boeve's chilly 3-for-3 day (2nd Dub) and his ice cold (think Ivan Lendl and Snapple) 0.533 BA and 1.228 OPS thru 10 Games? Goodness gracious.

Pick yer poison Midwest League: Yoho or Rodriguez? Rodriguez pitches a scoreless 7th for his 4th Save in as many tries in 2024. T-Rats hold on to win 5-3 and now sit with a 7-3 overall record. Kudos to RHP Will Childers who also pitched a scoreless 6th frame - he continues to show off-season inprovements. This is a much better pitcher in 2024 and it is awesome to see the off-season work truly pay off early.

Adams with his 2nd key HR (the go-ahead two-run variety) of the past week. Let's go young fella! Do you see what I see? Like Wiemer in 2024: vastly reduced pre-pitch bat and hands movement. Still the large leg lift BUT this is much less noisy than what we routinely saw in 2023. I love it!

Aquino has surrendereds back-to-back one out doubles and here in the 4th frame and the T-Rats suddenly trail 3-2.

Myers really made a name for himself during his brief call-up to the Sounds bullpen in the final days of the 2023 season. He was absolutely dominant in his innings versus Charlotte. Now, of course the addendum here is: Charlotte absolutely stunk last season. Fair. Regardless, having watched him all of the 2023 season, I saw a new man. Truly. There was his opening game start for Biloxi (a true gem - double digit K's) and there was this bullpen work. Bookends of mastery. Here's a look at his cutter: You see that 12-13" of induced vertical break here. Really nice pitch. By season's end, as he was setting strikeout records, his fastball really started getting new life sitting 96-97 mph and touching 98 mph (out of the Sounds pen). He was dealing and he knew it. Throwing darts. As we all know, the jump to 'The Bigs' is fraught with unknowns. BUT, if he is tapping into his best stuff Myers absolutely 'could' stick. Let's hope it's the case.

Congratulations to one Mr. Tobias Myers! Absolutely deserved. He's been slinging swings-and-misses and accessing new levels of his arsenal for over a year plus. Best of luck at 'The Show'. Let's hope he locks it in and sticks and helps aid the success of the Brewers rotation!

As alluded to in my report, more pitching excellence (hopefully, continued!) today: RHP Patricio Aquino takes the hill for the T-Rats in Game 1 (12:10 CST start) Additionally, later in the day we'll have opportunities to take a peak at Misiorowski on the hill in Biloxi and Rodriguez back on the bump in Nashville. We know what wizardry these two can deal when on their best game. Let's hope we get a taste!

Now, @wiguy94, we get to see if our other Indy gem in LHP Darrell Thomspon has also rediscovered his best dominancing stuffs. He just came off the Temporarily Inactive List today. We 'should' see him again very soon. Fingers crossed. We both know what we saw in Biloxi just didn't find its way to Nashville last year. But, we both know, he has all the tools and ingredients to become a MLB arm. Just have to see how it plays out.

OUR guy Big Papi. 😅 On this we absolutely agree. It was a lucky swing. On a mislocated slider that was in and off the plate. He was otherwise fantastic. Gave up a harmless lead-off single to RF. Was touching 97 mph on more than once occasion. In the AB before, he went 97 high heat and then dropped in a gorgeous 78 mph inside curve where the porch just fell out from under the pitch. Without that HR blemish we were looking at a total dominancing. Sat 94-95. Repeatedly hit 97 when dialing back. LOVE LOVE LOVE 2024 Middy.
