I'm going through my post-draft highlight ritual to ride the High. Given I'm more excited about this Packer haul than I ever have been post-draft. I'm finding drool-worthy clips and analysis across the board. LOL.
Post-pick, Rock Larry McCarren discussed JJ's 'heavy hands'. You see it here:
Christian Watson is simply an insane athlete. I said it after the pick. I'll say it again. He's a Unicorn: (Full rep at game speed in thread)
And, some Zach Tom love:
Sneaky good UDFA pick up in Goodson. That kid can really play. Always feels refreshing when a Hawkeye grabs the Green and Gold. I see a 9.54 RAS and a legitimate PS stash for a 3 down or receiving RB role (1 drop in 38 targets in 2021).
I have to think Scott Nelson may be one of the guys here. He came in for the visit. Had the measure-ables and testing numbers. Seems like a classic flyer guy.
Another youngster missing out on a seriously needed sport change to the Major Leagues. Trenton Gill (NC State, Punter, 7th Rd to the Bears) the Marlins need talent in those lower levels. Let's get on the phone with your reps and start cashing in on those endorsement deals.
I think what I learned more than anything in our draft cycle is we have a legitimate Draft Expert in our midst with @LouisEly. I love the Draft and I study it semi-regularly, but I'm nowhere near the League of Louis. Incredibly good output.
With a name like 'Russ Yeast' I think the young Safety (Kansas State, Rams 7th Rd pick) really missed out on an opportunity to play baseball for the Brewers organization. A sport change is still a possibility. I'm going to reach out to his agent.
Hey, thanks for chiming in! We're all happy to post and glad you found our blather useful. It's a positive environment more than anything which is very refreshing when it comes to Packers draft talk. ?
I really like Isaih Pacheco. Such a likable player. Literally the only Rutgers player that didn't give up versus Wisconsin - played hard and through the whistle to the very end. Such a classic Chiefs pick. I love the way the Ravens and Chiefs draft.
He had a terrrrrrible Pro Day and, then, on more than one occasion, really scared team's off with his lack of self-awareness. He completely sabotaged his career. And, quickly made himself a UDFA candidate more than anything.
Absolutely incredible value. Dane Brugler's 10th ranked OT overall. Coming to Green Bay as their project is literally the perfect scenario for he and the Packers. Unbelievable value.
That's a 3rd-4th round talent who, with proper coaching, could be a future 10 year starting OT in the League. Just incredible value. Goodness i LOVE this draft.
I'll never forget when the Vikings failed to get their first round pick in many drafts ago and then literally almost failed to get the first round pick in the very next year. It made me so belly-laughing happy. Those were wonderful draft moments.
So, a few things seem very true given the way this draft went:
(1) As @LouisEly has clearly pointed out on several occasions, the Packers really like the TE room they have contrary to outside opinions.
(2) They also clearly love their CB room and feel they are more than fine with depth there.
(3) The late season emergence of Patrick Taylor and the early performance of Kylin Hill and our RB room is legitimately as set as it could be. Lots to like in their group. I think Taylor's emergence and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield may have been one of my most pleasant surprises of the 2021 season.
I was just messing with you. Tyler was always that Try Hard where you were left asking: We can't do better than that? The coaches seemed to love him but it also seemed like he honestly never made a single play.
I actually think with these additions and the Reed addition and a possible Year 2 Slaton and Heflin leap and we're golden.
Yup. I was just editing that in. He is a massive man. No doubt about it. Hopefully there's something there as he gets away from Miami. He's really not all that explosive. He's a big big man who eats space. Those are useful in spots.
