    Tried to give up an out to advance the runner and couldn't even do that.

    They were that terrible. If ABS has done anything, it's made these umpires better at their jobs. For seven years or so they consistently called obvious balls as strikes. Those are the calls that should be challenged, not the borderline calls. A good rule of thumb would be to only challenge the obvious misses the first six innings of the game. If you want to challenge close calls after that, I'm fine with it.

    Yeah, I didn't express myself well there. The actual challenges being used so early in situations that aren't even all that critical is going to drive me nuts, and I don't see these guys learning from this at all this year.

    Well, Levering just said he's 6 for 8 so far this year, but the fact still remains challenging a ball call in the second inning of a game you're already leading by three is not smart baseball. It wasn't even a ball four.

    This ABS challenge system is going to drive me nuts all year. What do you really gain challenging something so early in the game?

    Yeah, I've seen enough poo pooing of injuries from Murphy and others only to be much more serious that keep guys out for extended periods of time. I hope Miz will only miss one start at worst, but I'll believe it when I see it.
