That's a fair point. I wasn't watching the game, just following on gamecast so I didn't take much consideration into that. Playing conservative football for 30 minutes is still football malpractice though.
Unbelievable. It absolutely defies all logic. I would say if there was any chance of Irsay dropping the interim from Jeff Saturday it's gone now, but we are talking about Jim Irsay after all.
He'll also have the distinction of being the quarterback of teams that blew the largest leads to lose in both the regular season and Super Bowl. Not saying this is all his fault. Far from it. It's just not something I would like my legacy to be defined.
Seriously, how is this even possible? You should be able to protect a 33 point halftime lead on accident. I guess that's what happens when you play prevent football for thirty minutes. Maybe if Irsay had hired an actual NFL coach...
EDIT: I just remembered the Colts have Matt Ryan as quarterback. He knows a thing or two about blowing insurmountable leads.
For the love of Pete, are the Colts really going to find a way to blow a 33 point halftime lead and lose? Another second half field goal would've effectively ended it. Too much to ask I guess.
Regardless of what happens, I think this game still showed what frauds the Vikings are.
Well, there's rumors flying around now that Love wants to be traded if he's not the man next year. Either way, Gute needs to draft offense in the first round for once and really at least the first three rounds. The defense has all the talent to be a top 10 unit. They just need to get some competent coaching on that side of the ball, which feels like a hopeless cause.
So not only do the Lions have an explosive offense, their defense went from being historically bad to better than the Packers' in a matter of six weeks.
Not that I would necessarily be against it, but I'm not as excited as most about a potential Leonhard to Green Bay scenario. He is a Mike Pettine disciple after all.
That, and he has bombed on some first round draft picks, e. g., Isaiah Wilson, Caleb Farley. He's also had some bad drafts overall. But yes, A.J. Brown going off on them on Sunday was the final nail in the coffin.
