  1. Counsell bunting when we are down 5 runs? Has he been in the NL so long that he forgot that the DH allows a team to hit FOR the pitcher, not have the number 9 hitter hit LIKE a pitcher?
  2. I feel like this team is over due for a big offensive night.
  3. IF there is ever a time and place a team can score 7 runs, it is in Arlington against this pitching staff.... If Capuano can stop hemmoraging line drives.
  4. Remember when people actually thought, or rather argued passionalely that he was the "Ace of the Staff"? Those people will remain nameless, but NOT forgotten.
  5. Im just busting your chops mostly Skube. I can tell you are passionate about the BRewers. I just give guys like Hall a little more leash, and believe they will work it out and the best way to do it is to keep him in the lineup.
  6. I think you a wrong there. He is 24. He isnt going to blow to be Kirby Puckett. I predict he plays 3b for 4-5 more years, then moves to LF or 1b. He wont DH for another decade at the earliest.
  7. Im writing that down Skube, what appears to be a positive quote about a Brewer. Mental Note - While ripping Hardy BobSkube compliments Rickie Weeks. Skube likes Weeks - End Mental Note.
  8. Royals laying it on the Phillies early. I dont kid when I say they would be a .500 team in the NL Central, and a playoff contender.
  9. Wow. Cappy isnt getting that called strike 3 on Hart. Not even through 3 innings, we have k'd 4 times. This Tejada guy pounds the strike zone.
  10. I can assure you Russ is not talking about the season. No need to panic.
  11. Last time I checked, Keith Law isnt a scouting director for any team, he is a poor-man's Mel Kiper, Jr. In other words, Who cares what he said about Laporta. These pundits/experts fall in love with certain players, while never really believing in others. Chad Green was supposed to be the a "Kenny Lofton" type, and Dave Krynzel the next Steve Finley...who did those guys turn out? As already stated in other threads, Laporta already compares, in some aspects, to collge hitters like Geoff Jenkins and Lance Berkman. I think you are waaayyyy to hung up on the fact that some "expert" tossed out the name Scott Hatteberg. Besides, baseball drafting isnt an exact science. If we can get a guy who will eventually have a productive 13 year career, like Hatteberg, we should be so lucky. Even if he is a hitter in the mold Hatteberg, he has to project to hit for more power.
  12. Are you crazy? Dontrelle Willis is no where close to Cabrera when it comes to game changing talent. Willis has a career ERA+ of 116, which is clearly above average, but nothing special, his WHIP was 1.41 last year, and is over 1.50 this year. I think Willis is good, but he WILL be overpaid soon, and wont be that much of an improvement over what we already have. Cabrera would be.
  13. MAybe we should have drafted some high school RHPs who dont know how to pitch, or "toolsy" guys who project to be good....but are raw. I think Laporta and Lucruy have plenty of upside.
  14. If it were a one for one, and we had Cabrera for all of 2008 and 2009, I think I'd do it. You just never know with pitching prospects.
  15. The guy seems like a Pat Burrell type to me. Nothing wrong with that. Oh, and I predict that by the end of 2008, that catcher they drafted is the Brewers number one catching prospect, ahead of both Salome and Palmisano.
  16. Here it comes, Milwaukee...
  17. Darn, this isnt what I thought this thread was going to be about. and to answer your question, of course they are not real.
  18. Jordan Zimmerman to the Nationals with the 67th pick. we would have had the 71st pick, but it goes to STL for Suppan and they select David Kopp, RHP, Clemson.
  19. The Padres with 5 picks in the comp round. That seems fair.
  20. Im indifferent on this pick. I cant see how anyone who has gotten along as far as he has in baseball couldnt play an average LF. As far as the comment about having a short window for success, and the need to draft someone to help now doesnt make sense. At least, I hope now. It makes more sense to start drafting people to take over for Hardy, Weeks, etc, when they leave via FA. I dont mind this pick, I trust the scouts and Jack Z., but would have preferred a high school bat.
  21. I know Brian has enlisted some more deputies, but it seems like half the people on these forums have moderator powers...and are just dying to use them. What I mean is, I dont know what the criteria is for locking a thread outside of no politics or religion.
  22. Frank Kremblas. He is the man to take over....should Yost get dumped.
