  1. August 4, 2005, one of the most unproductive afternoons I have ever had at my workplace. I'm reminded of a comeback win against the Astros in the first game of a double header a few years ago, when I had thought about taking a day off and making the 4 hour drive to Miller Park instead of going to the office. The pitching line for the Doug Davis was scary, and the bullpen gave up 10 hits. A win is a win, go brewers.
  2. It stinks for Iowans too. I always looked forward to the dates when the Snappers would play in the new stadium in Cedar Rapids.
  3. I was hoping someone would post a photo of Jill Hennessey (Crossing Jordan/Law & Order). The picture of the bottle of cognac just made me want to leave work early and spend the rest of the afternoon at the bar. Sarcasm = the highest form of humor.
  4. I like family section right in front of the pressbox. Uecker usually keeps the windows open and you get the benefit of the air con that flows out of the box.
  5. There seems to be a rash of baby girls for Brewer fans. Our daughter joined us on July 5th. We wanted to be surprised on the boy/girl thing, but knew the baby was complete breech (legs back) during the last month. Since the minor league system is short of catching prospects, I was prepared to start my future Brewers catcher training program early on. I figured the baby would be a natural since it had been in the catcher's squat in the womb. She responds to Uecker's soothing voice and joined us on the day of a Brewers win. Go Brewers.
  6. I wonder if I jinxed Derek Lee when I voted for the All Star team yesterday. It was the first time in my life that I have ever voted for a Cub. I better fill out a few more ballots.
  7. Darn, I was hoping Brant Brown would be in left field today. Why aren't the Cubs playing Keith Moreland...
  8. Here's hoping that one of the streakiest Brewer teams since 1987 gets things turned around as we head into a weekend series against the Pirates. Go Crew.
  9. Ohka start against the Cubs, and tonight's first inning, have made him look like the second coming of Ruben Quevado. Ugh.
  10. A few hours in the sensory depravation tank has finally relieved the anxiety caused by yesterday's loss. We've had better teams go on longer losing streaks. If I remember right, the 87 team blew about 14 straight shortly after the Easter Sunday Miracle and Juan Nieves' no-hitter. A road trip might just be what the team needs. At least It seemed to work out pretty good in "Animal House". A guy can learn several life lessons by watching that movie over and over.
  11. Here's my prediction for today's game: Game is tied at zero going into the 7th inning stretch. The sausage race starts as usual, but when the racing four near the Dodgers dugout, the Italian vears off and without warning tackles an unsuspecting Milton Bradley. Milton, recalling the lessons from his anger management class, doesn't fight back and only says, "serenity now" after the Italian is pulled off of him. After the altercation, Milton is heckled mercilessly by fans in the outfield seats and finally snaps. He jumps into the crowd and shoves a hot dog right up an old lady's nose. This sets off a bench clearing brawl that snaps the Brewers out of their hitting funk. They go on a five game winning streak before they are 2 hit by Jeff Suppan.
  12. There seems to be a standard scouting report on Jenkins. They bust him up and in or low and away. At least I won't be embarassed to wear my Jenkins jersey this Saturdy.
  13. Anyone want to make a prediction on how long Chad Fox goes before he breaks down with an injury? I would have thought that the Cubs would try and limit his appearances with his history of injuries.
  14. Back to back lefties causes flashbacks to the days when Scott Karl and Brad Woodall pitched back to back in the Brewers rotation.
  15. Long time viewer, first time poster. The information that is on this board is amazing. Thanks to all of you that have put the running box scores up this spring. Light the coals, I'm ready for the season to start.
