Some of these moves are really odd. The new regime came in & said they were going to preach patience with advancing their prospects, with guidelines for each player on how & when they would be bumped up. So, what were Brad Nelson's goals? 160 ABs? More than 10 extra base hits? 1 HR? I think it's clear the organization feels a lot of pressure to get these kids up sooner rather than later. If it weren't for playoff races we would probably see Parra, Sarfate, Fielder, Gwynn, Ramirez & Palmisano all bumped up. I don't see these moves as a reaction to pressure to get kids moved up. In Nelson's case, he had an injury that prevented him from getting the number of PAs that the organization thought he would get in HD. To me, that's no reason to not move him up if they think he's ready. Also, the top prospects in an organization are going to get treated differently than the 'middling' ones and Nelson is clearly a top prospect. It makes sense to me to give him ABs in AA ball this year and let him start there next season, as the jump from A to AA is generally regarded as the toughest step in the promotion ladder (at least that's what I've heard).
