  1. In two years in the lower lower minors Jackson Chourio has hit .290 with an OPS of 0.867. In 144 games he has 559 at bats with 162 hits of which 68 were extra base hits. In Double AA Jackson has .087 AVG with an OPS of 0.284 and you think this is worth more prospect capital than Frelick, Wiemers, or Mitchell? Huh
  2. If the Brewers were to trade Garret Mitchell or Jackson Chourio who which one would have the higher trade value? Jackson's rating are based on public opinion as of now. He will get his chance to cement his prospect rating these next couple of years. I doubt he is in the Mike Trout category. Might want to withhold judgement until he proves himself.
  3. I would be careful in anointing a prospect as can't miss based on one year of experience. Even high school and college players have more experience with the mental rigors of baseball. Yes, his skills are good but what happens when he is challenged, how does he react to this sport becoming a job rather than a sport. Baseball like every sport has a mental aspect to it and Chourio has no experience with it. There is a history of baseball getting over excited with many poorly researched hence unknown players, most fail to live up to the hype. I wouldn't assume anything with Jackson. He is a lottery ticket. I don't understand how a person with one year of experience is a team's best prospect. His numbers are pedestrian at best. The only reason to hype him is that he was young for his league when he put up those numbers. The fact his numbers decreased at every promotion is very suggestive. Mitchell, Frelick, Wiemers, numbers have improved with increased competition that is what you are looking for in a good prospect.
  4. Lots of fans are of the opinion that money grows on trees and everyone should always get what he/she wants. The Brewers are in financial straights given an impending bankruptcy and there are fans who are oblivious and think the Brewers should be spending hundreds of millions of dollars.
  5. You can't break down a simple article to find any supporting evidence? I hope you don't own stocks or run a business. Just shooting from the hip I would take the Packers reported revenues in 2022 of $579 million subtract the $309.2 million dollar contribution from the national revenue. Noting that national revenue is an equal share of the television and media deals means the Green Bay Packers received over $265 million from Wisconsin, Brown County, and Green Bay. It might be a broad paint brush but to think the organization does nothing but give to the city and the surrounding population is naive. The statistica link shows you a business that has quadrupled its revenue in 20 years while providing only one product. If the Packers generate around 40% of total revenue from local and state deals that means in 2001 of the $132 million total revenues the organization generated about $50 million. In 2022 that total is over $265 million. The Packers are a business and they don't care about anything but money.
  6. Do you think the Green Bay Packers will cut anyone or just restructure contracts and kick the can down the road?
  7. Here are a couple of sites for you. Want some answers do some statistical evaluation. Not here to hold your hand. Personally, I would make a note about the national revenue the Packers generate and the local revenue the Packers generate which can be easily deduced. Then I would look at the Statistica revenue and note the overall increase in revenue from 2001-2021. The Packers and the NFL in general should be ashamed of themselves. It is all about the revenues and not about the game anymore. Money talks and BS watches. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/packers/2022/07/22/green-bay-packers-revenue-profit-record-2022/10131171002/ Green Bay Packers revenue 2021 | Statista
  8. This is the only team in existence where front office salaries are not guaranteed. The front office needs to make more money each year or their salaries stagnate. Murphy isn't worried about football as much as he is worried about his job and his salary from year to year. Did you ever ask yourself why tickets, a beer, and a hotdog cost so much if there is no owner? Hint its not to pay players salaries. The Packers organization insists on taking a cut of all the earnings. The Packers were bailed out by the people during Curly Lambeau's ownership of the team. The people even built the team a stadium and then paid for a facelift a few years ago. What did the front office do to repay the people? Raised the price of everything. That is how business says thank you!
  9. Aaron Rodgers is the golden goose. The Packers are all about the money. Think of the organization as a ringleader of a circus, the organization thinks the people come to see the main attraction not the overall show. Aaron Rodgers is the main attraction this is why a team would give a 39 year old qb a $150 million contract. Big business has ruined football much like it has ruined travel, Las Vegas, the Dells, and everything else it has touched. It is all about the money, not the product. The Packers are a business not a football team. Mike Murphy's sole focus is to make more money every year. That is the truth. The Packers are not focused on the Super Bowl only the cash flow.
  10. Has anyone else noticed that nearly ever Packer starter is a high round draft pick or a free agent? Ever since GM Brian Gutenkunst took over the lack of player development is a glaring weakness on this team of old, aging veterans. I don't know if it is coaching or whether the GM is drafting rather poorly in the later rounds.
  11. Seems the team has been overweight drafting and signing position players the last few years. I hope this trends moderates. Pitching is also important.
  12. I wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers are leveraging Burnes' last two years of arbitration for one year of free agency to hammer out an extension. Earlier this year MLB sold an asset that will net the organization about $30 million. I am expecting something like 3 years at $60-70 million. But I do think in the end the Brewers will trade Burnes along with Woodward and Adames. Just not all in a 6 month window. I hope the Brewers scouting department can uncover a few hidden gems.
  13. How come such a low volume for Mitchell? Just curious.
  14. Does anyone know the win-loss record of the Brewers in the games Burnes and Woodruff pitched the last 3 years? Is the win percentage significantly higher than the other starters on the team? I don't think I have ever read any literature comparing win-loss records. I think that would be an interesting statistic that should be used in whether to resign either starter. Also, I find it a bit funny that the Brewers could sign Adames, Woodruff, and Burnes for about the same price as Yelich the past two years. I would use this argument to never sign players to long term deals again.
  15. Sounds plausible maybe 3yrs 70-90 million. Give Corbin a few more dollars in arbitration for one year of free agency.
  16. Ok, who in the last ten years did the Brewers allow to walk away that you would have resigned. You can't say Woodruff or Burnes since both are still in Milwaukee. I agree Yelich was a foolish signing probably the worst contract in baseball, not because of the money but because of the longevity. Did the team make a mistake by letting Prince Fielder or Zach Grienke go, did they make a mistake by resigning Bill Hall or Ryan Braun? Use specific examples of Milwaukee being cheap with its cash and letting quality players walk. How did you feel at the time the Brewers resigned Yelich? Did you think maybe the Brewers should have saved that cash to extend a young Brandon Woodruff or an up and coming phenom in Corbin Burnes? Maybe the Brewers should start thinking about tomorrow instead of today? Gosh isn't that what David Stearns has been saying?
  17. How many Braves, Astros, and Dodgers were free agents signees? The only homegrown Brewers players are two starters and 1 reliever. I think drafting and developing are the major reasons why the teams you pointed out are better than the Brewers, not the money! This money fixes everything paradigm is a short-sighted fallacy. I promise you the teams that spent big money the last few years on 2 or 3 players are not going to be players in free agency for a long while.
  18. I wonder if the players will continue to argue balls and strikes. Can the robo umps send players to the showers?
  19. I like the list but why isn't David Stearns the collector of all this talent omitted?
  20. There are a lot of fans on this website and in general that judge a team by the amount of money spent on roster construction. Not by wins and losses. Completely baffling!
  21. When he puts up the same numbers this year I will understand an 8 prospect rating until then rating don't mean too much. Ever heard of Victor Robles?
  22. When talking about the number 8 prospect in all of baseball?
  23. Don't forget Mark A. has revamped the minor leagues which comes at a cost to the major league team. The Brewers are also more active signing international players. But if the middling salary means the team will be more active trading for players rather than signing free agents I am all for it. I like trades a lot more than spending vast amounts of money on names. No one player has ever won a World Series. Today's teams seem to have forgotten that.
  24. I hope Jackson Chourio isn't the second coming of Orlando Arcia. I am half tempted to trade Jackson now with the helium he has been given. Yes, he is 18 but his stats are pedestrian. I hope he continues to develop.
  25. I hope and pray that the FO in Milwaukee is done signing players to long term contracts over $100 million.
