  1. Just a recap of the Brewer off-season. Renfroe and Wong plus their $20 million in salaries have been replaced relievers Junk, Peguero, and Seminaris. Outfielder Jesse Winker and infielder Abraham Toro and a savings of around $8 million. Good trades. Bring on the winter meetings. I hope some teams overpay for a couple of Brewers.
  2. Brings up a good question. Why do players and fans feel they deserve this money? The owners are the ones who take the risks not anyone else.
  3. If the rumors are true and Adames is wanted by other teams, they should be willing to overpay.
  4. Adames is peaking trade him now at peak value. There are plenty of shortstops. Houston just won the world series with Jeremy Pena who is in his first year.
  5. I wouldn't go getting attached to anyone. This is what leads to the Yelich contract. Just because you were good doesn't mean you will be good in the future. Baseball like any sport is a team sport. Let Arnold do what is best for the team not the player.
  6. Sorry to change the subject but did anyone see Jaire Alexander celebrate a play then two plays later give up a touchdown. Why do players feel the need to celebrate every good play? A lot of the celebrations are borderline unsportsmanlike. I feel these celebrations put more importance on the individual than the team. Maybe this is why the defense is regressing all anyone cares about anymore is how an individual does, not the team.
  7. Why do fans want to keep a .250ish hitter? Just because he is the best on the team? Not really a good argument. Why shouldn't the Brewers FO try to improve the team? Did the 2022 Brewers win the World Series? Did the team even make the playoffs? I don't get the argument that keeping Renfroe made this team better when the results of one year with Renfroe say exactly the opposite. People look at homeruns, RBI's, and OBP skills to determine the quality of baseball player. How about looking at the contribution to a good team. Once again a good team wins the games not an individual. This trade improves the Brewers weak minor league relief pitching. Play ball
  8. I am really excited about the Brewers trading Renfroe. Renfroe was never a core piece. He hit some dingers and had a cannon for an arm, but he was on the wrong side of 30. So trading him for three relievers in their mid-twenties is fair in my mind. I hope the relievers can contribute to the big-league club next year. The Brewers are a small market team. Best not get attached to any player. All are tradeable. Trading one non-core asset for 3 young non-core assets makes a lot of sense. Good trade!!!
  9. Isn't Kelenic an outfielder?
  10. We're clearly going to...I think it's just a question of when Frelick comes up. It's both hard to justify not breaking STing with him, but...also, small market team, extra year of control vs 6 weeks of not having him? Cleveland made it work with a very young team last year, so...no reason we can't. We need some more BP help like Uribe coming through or...I don't know, a FA. The guys I thought might be expensive, but in or price range turned out to be more expensive and signed immediately in Montero and Suarez. I agree. A good thing about a small market team is the rapid change over in the roster, next man up mentality. No team ever stays together very long. Puts an emphasis on trading/developing talent. But I am very surprised at the cost of talented relievers this year. Looking at what Suarez and Montero received things might get costly for the Brewers to rebuild the bullpen this year. I think the Brewers might sign a lot of reclamation projects. I hope it works out.
  11. An outfield with Frelick, Mitchell and Ruiz in it could lead to the resigning of a Burnes, Woodruff, or Adames. Could also include Turang replacing either Wong or Urias. Free up lots of money for a few years.
  12. Promote the youngsters. Remember there is a guy in double AA that could pick up any outfield short comings. Depending what the FO thinks of Chourio's performance this year, he might be the reason why Renfroe is traded. Wiemer gets a year to prove himself and if not Jackson Chourio is next up.
  13. I like the Kwan comparison to Frelick. I hope Frelick gets an opportunity next year. I am all for an outfield of Renfroe, Mitchell/Taylor, and Yelich/Frelick. With Wiemer being groomed for Renfroe's free agent departure next year. There is nothing wrong with depending on young players to produce. Some will ultimately fail but others will make it. This is how many small market teams operate. Keeps the roster young and cheap. The next two years are going to be nearly a complete revamp of the offense. Going to be a lot of home-grown talent on the field.
  14. I don't like Luis Urias. Luis seems to breeze through the minors on his talent but now that everyone is talented Luis seems unable to adjust, plus is very short for a third baseman this is a liability on defense. I would like to see what the 22 year old can do.
  15. I think speed is an underutilized, undervalued, under-evaluated aspect of baseball. I know this comparison is not apples to apples but should open some eyes to the value of Bryce Turang not only as a fielder but a speedy hitter. I compared Bryce's total bases per at bat with those of the current major league starting infield. I didn't include going first to third or second to home on a hit and I did not include runs scored but I looked at total bases per at bat. This included things such as singles, doubles, triples, home runs, walks, and stolen bases. I collected the information rather quickly so my numbers might be lacking. Wily Adames At bats 563 total bases 315 bases per at bat 0.56 Luis Urias At bats 406 total bases 215 bases per at bat 0.53 Kolten Wong At bats 430 Total bases 248 bases per at bat 0.58 Bryce Turang At bats 532 Total Bases 310 bases per at bat 0.58 If the Brewers are worried about run production and offense Bryce Turang should be inserted for Luis Urias. Kolten Wong has the highest total bases percentage per at bat on the infield excluding first base. I wish Bryce played more 3rd base last year.
  16. I guess the Brewers are going to find better than Brad B. for $2.25 million or less. Let's see.
  17. Moneyball seems more focused on tomorrow rather than today.
  18. I think the Brewers should go all out the next few years. Re-sign Burnes, Adames, and Woodruff. The young talent in triple A and the projected stud in double A are too good to pass up. I think it is safe to say that the only other team in Brewer history with this much talent is the '82 Brewers. Think about it the Brewers have Mitchell, Frelick, Wiemer, Ruiz, and Turang joining an already solid squad. I know the major and minor leagues lack relievers but the Brewers have lots of 4/5 starters. Trade them, sign Bieber, and go for it the next few years. If the payroll goes to $150 million is a problem for Attanasio sell the team. There will never be a better time for him to sell. Can you imagine the Brewers trotting out Burnes, Bieber, Woodruff, Peralta, and Lauer/Houser. The NL central is wide open the Brewers should take advantage. This should make a GM salivate.
  19. I would actually try to buyout the next three years for Burnes something like 3 years $60-80 million dollar range. Also try to extend Woodruff with a similar offer. I doubt the Brewers would ever receive fair value for either in a trade so might as well hang on and be a playoff team for a couple of more years.

  21. The Brewers have zero starting pitcher prospects but multiple position players in triple AAA. Arnold needs to replenish the minors with impact pitching. Stearns showed a blueprint of how to win with impact pitching and defense, less than a week after replacing the GM articles are appearing saying to trade the winning pitchers for position players? Has anyone watched how the Brewers won the last 4 years?

  23. Anyone who thinks Brian Cashman is worse than David Stearns as a GM must not judge longevity or world series as metrics for quality. Seems argumentative to say the least. Personally, I think David is burnt out. His trades in 2021 at the deadline were questionable especially relievers and this year his trades were definitely questionable. I hope the new GM is up to the task. Maybe GM and POBO should be split just some food for thought. I hope this new GM makes trades an offseason priority and not during the season.
  24. The San Diego GM has balls of steel trading away his top prospects the last two years for a few core players.
