  1. In two years in the lower lower minors Jackson Chourio has hit .290 with an OPS of 0.867. In 144 games he has 559 at bats with 162 hits of which 68 were extra base hits. In Double AA Jackson has .087 AVG with an OPS of 0.284 and you think this is worth more prospect capital than Frelick, Wiemers, or Mitchell? Huh
  2. If the Brewers were to trade Garret Mitchell or Jackson Chourio who which one would have the higher trade value? Jackson's rating are based on public opinion as of now. He will get his chance to cement his prospect rating these next couple of years. I doubt he is in the Mike Trout category. Might want to withhold judgement until he proves himself.
  3. I would be careful in anointing a prospect as can't miss based on one year of experience. Even high school and college players have more experience with the mental rigors of baseball. Yes, his skills are good but what happens when he is challenged, how does he react to this sport becoming a job rather than a sport. Baseball like every sport has a mental aspect to it and Chourio has no experience with it. There is a history of baseball getting over excited with many poorly researched hence unknown players, most fail to live up to the hype. I wouldn't assume anything with Jackson. He is a lottery ticket. I don't understand how a person with one year of experience is a team's best prospect. His numbers are pedestrian at best. The only reason to hype him is that he was young for his league when he put up those numbers. The fact his numbers decreased at every promotion is very suggestive. Mitchell, Frelick, Wiemers, numbers have improved with increased competition that is what you are looking for in a good prospect.
  4. Seems the team has been overweight drafting and signing position players the last few years. I hope this trends moderates. Pitching is also important.
  5. Ok, who in the last ten years did the Brewers allow to walk away that you would have resigned. You can't say Woodruff or Burnes since both are still in Milwaukee. I agree Yelich was a foolish signing probably the worst contract in baseball, not because of the money but because of the longevity. Did the team make a mistake by letting Prince Fielder or Zach Grienke go, did they make a mistake by resigning Bill Hall or Ryan Braun? Use specific examples of Milwaukee being cheap with its cash and letting quality players walk. How did you feel at the time the Brewers resigned Yelich? Did you think maybe the Brewers should have saved that cash to extend a young Brandon Woodruff or an up and coming phenom in Corbin Burnes? Maybe the Brewers should start thinking about tomorrow instead of today? Gosh isn't that what David Stearns has been saying?
  6. How many Braves, Astros, and Dodgers were free agents signees? The only homegrown Brewers players are two starters and 1 reliever. I think drafting and developing are the major reasons why the teams you pointed out are better than the Brewers, not the money! This money fixes everything paradigm is a short-sighted fallacy. I promise you the teams that spent big money the last few years on 2 or 3 players are not going to be players in free agency for a long while.
  7. I like the list but why isn't David Stearns the collector of all this talent omitted?
  8. There are a lot of fans on this website and in general that judge a team by the amount of money spent on roster construction. Not by wins and losses. Completely baffling!
  9. Don't forget Mark A. has revamped the minor leagues which comes at a cost to the major league team. The Brewers are also more active signing international players. But if the middling salary means the team will be more active trading for players rather than signing free agents I am all for it. I like trades a lot more than spending vast amounts of money on names. No one player has ever won a World Series. Today's teams seem to have forgotten that.
  10. I hope and pray that the FO in Milwaukee is done signing players to long term contracts over $100 million.

  12. You think Raphael Devers is worth more than $30 million a year? You can't be serious. With what you just said the Red Sox have signed him not to a 11 year deal but more likely 7/8 with 3 years deferred money. We are going to have to agree to disagree. We are getting off subject.

  14. Cain's contract is why the Brewers traded Hader and signed McCutchen. Cain's contract alone was $15 million dollars and McCutchen was $8 million so yeah, the Brewers spent $23 million for a part time outfielder last year. That did limit the Brewers signing of free agents last year and forced the FO to focus on cheap ways of lowering the team salary. In the end it cost the Milwaukee Brewers the playoffs and trading away a season and a half of Hader, that is a pretty big deal. The front office shouldn't sign anyone to more than 2-3 years with options. That way if a player should play below his contract the Brewers will be free of any long term problems. I seriously hope all of MLB looks into the way contracts are written. Nothing wrong with writing in option years after a short term contract, force those players to earn that money.

  16. I think there is a size difference in footballs from college to the NFL. So I like QB's with bigger hands, I think college QB's arm strength translates better. I think Hooker is a really good project.
  17. Offensive lineman, defensive lineman, wide receiver, running back, and tight end. Plus a kicker! 6 positions. Not a lot of glaring holes but better depth is needed.
  18. I really like the Winker trade. He is motivated being his contract year, coming off of injury, and playing in a hitter friendly environment. All for the cost of a Colton Wong, I think this was a great buy low trade.
  19. The Brewers can start whomever they want whenever they want.
  20. The Brewers can start whomever they want whenever they want.
  21. Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta, Miley start every five with a Lauer/Ashby as your 5. Houser becomes the 8th inning guy. Then if Gasser or Small play well, trade Lauer for the best offer come the deadline. I really am not a fan of trading for an outfielder when 4 of the top 5 Brewer prospects play outfield. I don't think you are going to find an infielder better than Luis Urias available on the market. I think the Brewers are pretty much set. The Miley signing was something I didn't anticipate. But was really smart signing. The Brewers win the Pennant this year:)
  22. I hope the Brewers sign no one for more than 3-4 years. Yelich and Braun and even Lo Cain are examples A, B, and C.

  24. Let's use your system. I want to debate you on why you closed the Trevor Bauer thread because one poster had a problem with it. Does every thread need 100% approval? I thought the question was extremely valid and comments were rather interesting. Milwaukee Brewers 2023 salary cap is very limited and the team could add a CY young award winning arm for league minimum. You close it because one commentor takes it personally that is up to him/her. If I have a problem with a thread or comments made by posters I stop following. How come that is not the rule, but canceling others thoughts are the rule? Baseball like anything else in this country is run by a democracy which is rule by the many, in sports every single expressed idea will have a counter idea by someone somewhere so are we not to speak if our ideas are controversial will you close every thread if there is a counter position? Again, this was not a personal comment made to anyone anywhere I simply stated the LA Dodgers will most likely cut Trevor Bauer should he be picked up by the Brewers. All of a sudden I am seeing pictures, texts, and comments about his personal history. Instead of closing the thread you should have made a comment about keeping this a baseball matter and not a personal issue and any commentary will be expunged.
  25. Yelich is making $27 million I will attach a site that details his contract. Deferred salary counts!!! Also Mitchell/Frelick are first round picks with major league contracts doubt they make league minimums as is Taylor who is entering his 3rd year. Also don't forget the dead money of the Boxburger buyout and the Wong buy in. Plus the money traded for Toro. How come you don't include the salaries of Luis Urias, Devin Williams, Rowdy Tellez, Lauer, Houser? Besides all three of Woody, Burnes, and Adames will get more than those low numbers especially Burnes and his 200 plus inning and league leading strikeouts.
