  1. Well you can only go up from there!
  2. So Clayton Andrews pitched tonight. He also pitched last night. He's the first Sounds pitcher to pitch on back to back days this season. Maybe there is nothing there, but I feel like minor leaguers rarely pitch back to back days. Could be the Brewers trying to get him comfortable with a more MLB type bullpen schedule. I probably am just reading way too much into it though.
  3. Just lacks experience over there as well. He should have just held onto the ball on that play. The throw wasn't going to beat the runner.
  4. Incredibly silly that this stuff is being tested in affiliated ball especially in AA.
  5. I feel like he hasn't looked as sharp the last two outings but he continues to get whiffs and strikeouts. Just a very good pitcher.
  6. I very much disagree that DW's fastball isn't good. It also isn't straight as an arrow. His 4-seam FB this year is 1.2 inches better than league average in vertical movement and 2.9 inches better than average in horizontal movement (9.8 inches of break). Combine that with his 100th percentile extension and that FB is a good pitch.
  7. I said they don't catch. Not that they don't play lol. Brewers have a full-time DH on their roster in Winker. It's not as easy to just play Contreras at DH when he isn't catching when they need to get Winker consistent ABs.
  8. Regarding Contreras use, I will say this. He should absolutely be playing in all 3 games of the Angels series with 3 LHP on the mound for them. I think Counsell will have Contreras catch the 1st and 3rd game with Caratini catching Burnes in the 2nd game with Contreras DH'ing.
  9. I've been paying a lot more attention to his on the broadcasts this year. Sometimes those strike zone boxes are not remotely close to being the knee to the belt so the pitch doesn't hit the box and people complain about the call when it was actually a strike.
  10. He's set to pitch tomorrow against the A's. We are scheduled to face 3 LHP in the Angels series though so not much better.
  11. The double in his first AB was off a slider (granted it was a hanging slider) but still good to see.
  12. Especially with him playing at Coors in that time. The average batting line at Coors in the late 90's was insane. HoF level hitting splits being the average hitter splits there.
  13. Caratini bomb! Maybe Counsell knows what he is doing!
  14. Adley and Contreras have both caught 17 games this season. Seems like they both are getting plenty of games off behind the plate. Realmuto has been catching 140 games for over half a decade he is used to it. Contreras has never caught 100 games in his career and he only caught 68 games last season. He's on pace to catch 111 games this season.
  15. Catchers rarely ever play day games after night games. Why do you continue to ignore that?
  16. Someone at the game said EBJ is sitting on the top rail of the dugout with no ice on his face. Seems like a good sign it was just precautionary to take him out of the game!
  17. Nice to get an early lead. Hopefully BA can push it to 3-0 here.
  18. Which again comes back to you wanting to give up on Winker 25 games into the season. We got Winker to be our every day DH against RHP.
  19. Both were accidents. I don't think it looked that terrible in terms of getting hit in the face so fingers crossed he won't miss more than a couple of days.
  20. Would be nice to have a single game thread this season where people aren't complaining about Counsell's lineups.
  21. Contreras played 97 games in the MLB last season and 13 in AAA. He's on pace to play 15 more games this season than he did in the 110 games combined last year. Winker had a day off 2 days ago and was pinch hit for yesterday. He's also being exclusively used as a DH so he doesn't need "rest days" when he isn't playing in the field.
  22. Eric Brown Jr hit in the face with a pitch in the 1st inning and was removed from the game. Very scary moment.
