  1. The only thing I would add is Rogers was a lot better than just a placeholder. Going back to 2017 when Hader entered the league, Rogers was in the top 10 RP in fWAR. He was meant as a slight downgrade from Hader innexchange for those longterm pieces. Bush and Rosenthal were there to make up the difference between Hader and Rogers. While neither Rogers nor Hader were good post trade, Rogers outpitched him. I would definitely make the trade again with everything in hindsight. The hindsight moves would be keepinf Lamet and grabbing another RP instead of Rosenthal.
  2. They were 6th in baseball in both 4+ and 5+ run games. They were T-9th fewest in games scoring 2 or fewer runs. It's hard to be much more consistent than they were.
  3. With the way Hader pitched with the Padres, there's little reason to think the Brewers get in if he pitches the way he did there with us especially the 2 week shutdown in August he had. Imagine the Brewers bullpen without being able to use Hader for 2 weeks because of his struggles and not because no save situation. Rogers was better than Hader post trade even though both weren't good overall.
  4. This is just the crapshoot that is the playoffs.
  5. Anybody with any knowledge on probabilities new that was the case. The worst team in baseball would be expected to beat the best team in baseball 1 out 5 playoff length series. Since the teams in the playoffs are much closer than that, it's basically 50-50 each series. A top 2 seed only gives you a 12.5% chance of winning the World Series compared to a 6.25% chance if you don't get the buy. It's better nabbing a top 2 seed, but you're still 87.5% chance of not winning the whole thing.
  6. Hasn't Baseball Trade Values only been a thing since 2019? As time goes on, it's certainly possible he gets snapped up by a front office somewhere if his system continues to produce accurate results. Sean Smith, Dave Cameron, and others have been snapped up by front offices in the past.
  7. Reducing payroll after this year would be a PR disaster. You'd hate to have a Cleveland situation after where the fans completely leave you after all the work to cultivate the fan support they have over the last 15 years. Maybe the Attanasio and the ownership group are fine with a Cleveland situation, but I'd bet against it.
  8. The Brewers OD payroll in 2022 was over $130 M and finished around 140 M. No reason to think they can't do that again in 2023.
  9. His 124 wRC+ was 8th and his 2.5 fWAR was T-9th amongst RF with minimum 400 PA. You're not going to find better on the FA market for $11 M.
  10. Davis definitely was a whole other stratosphere. I get with the number of OF we have that moving Yelich to DH makes sense, but I don't think it's the best way of improving on the offense because rookies don't always hit the ground running. There's a lot of 1B/DH bats available that we should be able to sign on reasonable short term deals. Jose Abreu and Josh Bell are at the top of the list for me, but we never know how hot the market will be.
  11. A -2 DRS and +4.1 UZR is bad defensively in LF? That seems pretty average out there. His arm is dragging his defense down, but he's still showing average or better range. We're nowhere near a Khris Davis situation where the arm eats up the average or better range making him useless in the field.
  12. It was a flareup of Raynaud's Syndrome. It has nothing to do with his pitching mechanics, and it's something that can be managed. Glavine was diagnosed with it in 1990 and pitched until 2008.
