  1. Transactions: Catcher Brett Sullivan and OF Korry Howell sent to San Diego's system in the Victor Caratini acquisition Infielder Hayden Cantrelle and RHP Alexis Ramirez head to Miami for additional catching depth in Alex Jackson LHP Clayton Andrews placed on Nashville's 7-day injured list (injury not revealed) C Brian Navarreto transferred from ACL Brewers Blue roster to Nashville (paper move, as Navaretto was likely with the team since spring training camp broke and was needed after the Brett Sullivan departure) RHP's Moises Gomez, Matt Hardy, and J.T. Hintzen were placed on the Nashville "Development List" - this could mean they are still in Maryvale or are on a taxi squad of sorts and are with the AAA club *** Final: Durham (Rays) 9, Nashville 4 Box Score / Game Log Via the Sounds' site, game details: Singleton Homers Again but Sounds Fall to Bulls - Nashville First Baseman has Homered in Both Games of 2022 Among those making their 2022 debuts - 2B Mark Mathias (2-for-4), 3B Andruw Monasterio, and the entire starting outfield - LF Dustin Peterson, CF Jonathan Davis (on base three times), and RF Garrett Whitley (single, HBP). So all the Sounds but the newly-activated Navarreto have now seen action. Except for the fifth pitcher of the night RHP Peter Strzelecki, no ERA's went unscathed. The middle relief crew didn't have each others' backs as all three runners inherited scored. *** Very good video highlight report via WXXV on Biloxi's exhibition game against William Carey University, and the NAIA school more than held their own against the pros. Jeff Haeger of WXXV does a nice job on the Shuckers beat, as evidenced in his video report earlier in the day: Notes via the Voice of the Shuckers - *** It was a "Get To Know You" day in Appleton, and our Kyle Lobner was all over it: *** Bobbleheads (and Chris Mehring)! *** *** VIDEO via WBAY: Manager Joe Ayrault *** I know which section of the Media Guide I normally flock to each year, and that's the Minor League pages, and we're left with disappointment this year. The Brewers have scrubbed the injury histories from each player write-up. Each spring, we would collect all the notations from the guide, and those updates would fill in the gaps as to why players missed time during the prior season, or would even tell us what surgeries they may have had in the just-ended offseason. Now, we are left to wonder when players are missing in action. We had wondered each year (wondered out loud, perhaps we shouldn't have done that), as to why the Brewers (thankfully for us at the time) would be so up-front with surgery/injury details, listing specific dates and surgeons. Why be so tight-lipped during the season - unless an injury is clearly an on-field incident with video and such, you'll never see the organization or the affiliate announcers acknowledge the specifics of an injury. Heck, this is how we learned of LHP Antoine Kelly's Thoracic Outlet Surgery in November of 2020. We get it - HIPPA and all, but it leaves us guessing moving forward. *** One more night in the spotlight, Nashville, as RHP and 40-man roster member Dylan File toes the rubber: Thursday 4/7: Organizational Scoreboard including starting pitcher info, game times, MiLB TV links, and box scores
  2. The Brewers made news that impacted their minor league rosters on Wednesday. The Sounds continued to have the game spotlight to themselves, although the Shuckers played an exhibition (highlights forthcoming!), the Timber Rattlers were busy in an introductory way, and oh, there's a change in the Milwaukee Media Guide that will disappoint prospect followers. 7. Final: Nashville 5, Durham (Rays) 4 Box Score Nashville Site Game Summary: Sounds Score Walk-Off Winner on Opening Day - Corey Ray’s Infield Single in the Ninth Wins it for Nashville We'll build off the always-detailed game summaries (definitely suggested reading) with nuggets and observations, and please add in your own thoughts by commenting on our daily posts all season. Wait, we can embed tweets now? Thank you very much, site upgrade! Jon Singleton kicks off the game's timeline. Nice to have home games on the docket for the higher quantity of video content. We always thank the production crews at each affiliate for providing these highlights, and Voice of the Sounds Jeff Hem is in fine Opening Night form. Reminder - Brice Turang will be 22 years old all season long. In nine Nashville starts in 2021, Ethan Small posted a 2.06 ERA but walked 21 and struck out 24 in 35 innings. So perhaps the note on his strikeouts here isn't as surprising as one might think initially. Keep in mind that both highlights you are about to see happened in the top of the 6th within moments of each other. Despite allowing line drive base hits to the first three men he faced, RH reliever Hobie Harris escaped with a scoreless inning and no doubt treated Corey Ray to a cold one after the game. Now remember, it's called a walk-off because the losing team walks off the field. The winning team tends to bounce off, high-five off, etc. Brice Turang and Jamie Westbrook on base thrice each. All nine lineup starters played the entire game. Your Opening Night bench: C Brett Sullivan, INF's Mark Mathias and Andruw Monasterio, OF's Jonathan Davis, Dustin Peterson and Garrett Whitley. We're all Luke Barker fans, but the two runs he allowed in a save situation set up the final dramatics: Ground ball single, wild pitch, walk, line drive single to load the bases, ground ball RBI single, sacrifice fly, then nice work to preserve the tie. Bookmark this for future reference if you wish - Sounds Media Guide (wow, 234 pages) *** Elsewhere on the farm: If your bosses are only going to give you two minutes to file a TV news report previewing the local squad, this is how you do it, nice job Michael Dugan - hear from Garrett Mitchell, Joey Wiemer, Thomas Dillard, Lucas Erceg and Manager Mike Guerrero Voice of the Shuckers Garrett Greene included detailed entries for each of the 2022 members of the initial Biloxi roster in his press release *** Wisconsin Opening Roster Press Release Carolina Opening Roster Press Release *** We'll be posting the next day's schedule at the base of each daily report. Hortonville, WI native and UW-LaCrosse product, RHP Caleb Boushley (Boz-ley) is scheduled to start for the Music City Crew. Wednesday 4/6: Organizational Scoreboard including starting pitcher info, game times, MiLB TV links, and box scores Enjoy your day, everyone!
  8. The Nashville Sounds were placed in the spotlight Tuesday evening, thanks to the big league season's one-week delay. With the Brewers other affiliates set to debut this Friday, the men at AAA will be the primary focus of the daily report for a bit. The entertainment factor turned out to be high on Opening Night! 9. I completely went through my Costanza-sized wallet and broke it down to the bare necessities. Most liberating thing I've done in years, highly recommended!
  10. Initial post in thread is up-to-date, check out the link as the latest Tampa and Cleveland deals have been posted. *** These trade partners were removed / updated: Rays (05/21/21) -- Acquired SS Willy Adames and RHP Trevor Richards in exchange for RHP JP Feyereisen and RHP Drew Rasmussen Indians (11/20/19) -- Acquired INF Mark Mathias in exchange for C Andres Melendez
  11. 2021 a tough year for the Mary Tyler Moore show cast - Cloris Leachman, Gavin MacLeod, and Ed Asner. Bubble wrap Betty White.
  12. RIP Markie Post of "Night Court", 70. Never had looked up her first name was Marjorie. Another bit of my 80's TV history memories gone.
  13. We see you, Reese Olson
  14. Initial post in thread is up-to-date.
  15. This deal: Mariners (12/05/19) -- Acquired C Omar Narvaez in exchange for RHP Adam Hill and future considerations (2020 Competitive Balance Round B draft pick - RHP Connor Phillips, currently #11 on the Mariners MLB Pipeline list) Was replaced by this one: Mariners (05/02/21) -- Acquired C Jacob Nottingham in exchange for cash considerations *** Visit the initial post in this thread to see the last trade with the Rays prior to the Adames/Richards for Feyereisen/Rasmussen deal today.
  16. Blue Jays (11/04/19) -- Acquired 1B/OF Chad Spanberger in exchange for RHP Chase Anderson This was replaced by the Derek Fisher acquisition in the initial post in this thread.
  17. This trade partner relationship with Colorado is by far the longest dry spell currently for the Brewers, as seen in the initial post here. It's ten and a half years longer than the next longest drought (St. Louis). Even though this was one of those quick same-day Rule 5 draft trades, it's still sad to note that Carvajal passed in January 2018 at age 33. Former pitcher Marcos Carvajal dies in Venezuela amid lack of medication for pneumonia NOTE: This past spring MLB.com wrote about the longest current MLB trade partner droughts for each team. Brewers-Rockies is the 7th longest drought, and no drought pre-dates the year 2000. Bumped this post and this thread because Kyle Lobner continued his remarkable This Day in Brewers History series today, and I realized that on this same day five years earlier in 1999 the two teams were involved in a major (yet lackluster for the Crew) three-team trade. Haven't researched if the teams had dealt with each other between the '99 and '04 deals. P.S.: I am aware that in the initial post of this thread many of the Baseball Cube Player Page links need to be updated. Apparently the Cube changed all their links some time ago.
  18. I enjoyed AMC's Quiz. I've copied and pasted this disclaimer -- If you don’t remember the details about the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? fraud scandal that happened in the early 2000s in England, don’t go to Google before you watch Quiz. The fascinating three-part (each one hour) limited series, which first aired in May in the U.K. and debuted earlier this month, is compelling regardless, but may be best appreciated by those who come to it with as few preconceived notions as possible.
  19. Here are the prior deals with these teams: Now the Jordan Lyles acquisition for Cody Ponce, but previously: Pirates (12/17/15) -- Acquired OF Keon Broxton and RHP Trey Supak in exchange for 1B Jason Rogers *** Now the Drew Pomeranz / Ray Black acquisitions for Mauricio Dubon, but previously: Giants (03/24/19) -- Acquired INF C.J. Hinojosa in exchange for C Erik Kratz *** Now the Jacob Faria acquisition for Jesus Aguilar, but previously: Rays (06/10/18) -- Acquired IF Brad Miller and cash in exchange for 1B Ji-Man Choi *** Now the cash acquisition for Marcos Diplan, but previously: Twins (08/03/15) -- Acquired cash in exchange for LHP Neal Cotts

  21. We lost Ken Berry of F-Troop, Mayberry RFD and Mama's Family at age 85 Saturday. LINK Friend Larry Storch (Agarn on F-Troop) still with us at 95. You may remember this episode of the Brady Bunch with Ken Berry which was aired as a pilot for a potential new series had it been picked up. It would have been ahead of its time in some regard if it had (four years before "Diff'rent Strokes).
  22. From 2013's post -- Both gone now, as we lost "Mrs. Oleson" this week at 93.
  23. This got swapped out quickly: Yankees (05/25/18) -- Brewers acquired C Erik Kratz in exchange for cash considerations now reading: Yankees (06/15/18) -- Brewers acquired RHP Chad Whitmer in exchange for international bonus pool money
  24. Sunday's Brad Miller acquisition replaces this most recent "trade with the Rays": Rays (07/10/16) -- Brewers acquired cash in exchange for RHP Jaye Chapman
  25. This was the prior trade with the Yankees before today's acquisition of catcher Erik Kratz: Yankees (07/13/17) -- Brewers acquired LHP Tyler Webb in exchange for 1B Garrett Cooper
