The Brewers were always going to be extra-cautious after the April 22nd incident in which Pena lost consciousness, and yes, a full month had passed since that date. One can imagine the number of tests that have been run and the amount of monitoring to have taken place since. Luke Roupe, drafted in the 17th round last summer out of a North Carolina high school, had his professional debut delayed a bit, but he joined Pena on the field Friday night. In his two prior appearances, RHP Garrett Stallings started and worked 12.2 scoreless innings with only two walks. On the surface, it seems he would still be needed in a starting role, but he came up big in the 8th here: The Nashville rotation may be the most in-flux thing in all of the Brewers system, understandable given the vagaries of the Sounds-Brewers mound relationship (certainly paying off at the big-league level). If Stallings is temporarily back in the pen, you've got Friday's starter Coleman Crow (88 pitches to get through 4.1 innings, 3 ER), plus RHP Tyson Hardin (one start since his call-up from Biloxi), LHP Thomas Pannone, and seemingly struggling RHP Carlos Rodriguez, who has worked in long relief as of late, comprising part of the Sounds' rotation, along with any rehab efforts from Quinn Priester. Yet the club has won 10-of-11 games! LHP Rob Zastryzny's latest rehab stint began on May 14th. Not a lot of room in the MLB pen, and Rob Z. has been lights-out in four appearances since: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K. How long will he be strung along before activation? Nashville drew ten walks, so the number of times players were on base was significant: Wilken 4, Matos and Greg Jones 3, Cooper Pratt, Luis Lara, Jeferson Quero twice each. Whenever Luis Rengifo has a miserable MLB night (as he did Friday), we glance Jett Williams way - 0-for-5 here, one K. Postponed, rain: Birmingham (White Sox) at Biloxi Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives The teams are still trying to complete the 11th inning (and possibly beyond) of their Thursday game (box score), discussed in Daniel's fine Link Report yesterday. As of right now, Friday's game is not scheduled as a make-up (yet), as Sunday is still listed as a single game. We wonder if the game will be made up in Birmingham with Biloxi as the home team during the June 9th - 14th series. Also, early in the game this defensive play occurred: Adamczewski walked twice in addition to his two-bagger. We're 33 games into his season, and he's still sporting an incredible 1.024 OPS (.322/.441/.583). Young Josh also stole his 7th base in eight tries. Our swooning continues. CF Josiah Ragsdale singled three times, fanned in the other two plate appearances. The K rate is high at 28.2%, but he's also walking in 19.3% of his plate appearances for a .417 OBP. Night off for Braylon Payne. RHP Travis Smith was very solid in five of six swing-role outings to begin his season. In his most recent appearance before Friday, he did allow four runs in a five-inning start with five walks, so that was a bit of a stumble, but not a blow-up. Unfortunate that his outing here went very sideways, but kudos to Jack Seppings for saving the bullpen in what could have turned into another game in which a T-Rat position player was needed on the mound. Wilson Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Wilson 7, Delmarva (Orioles) 2 Box Score and Game Log Wilson Pitching Stifles Shorebirds; Big Eighth Secures Victory - Warbirds Don't Allow an Earned Run in Win Check out 18-year-old Brady Ebel's April vs. May splits, then admire: Ebel also doubled and singled, such a promising turnaround - it's so easy to focus on early numbers because they're the only figures we have at the time, lesson for us all. Wow, Jarrett Bonet, and the Brewers' Organizational Pitcher of the Month for April's line of 6.1 scoreless innings, 1 H, 1 BB, 2 HBP, 6 K, 93 pitches included this: DH Jadyn Fielder walked three times to lift his OBP to .412. The Warbirds were handed (or better said, earned) ten free passes. Final: ACL Brewers 8, ACL White Sox 6 Box Score and Game Log Juan Pena's evening, not surprisingly in the designated hitter role for his first game back: Walked on five pitches after getting up in the count 3-0 Stole 2nd base Advanced to 3rd on a wild pitch Scored on the front-end of a double steal with OF Kenny Fenelon Walked (again) on five pitches after getting up in the count 3-0 Advanced to second base when Brailyn Antunez was HBP, then stranded Sent a 77 MPH grounder to 3rd base, reached on an error Advanced to second on a Fenelon walk Scored on a two-out CJ Hughes 96.8 MPH line single to right Leading off the 6th, Pena is hit by a pitch, remains in the game, does not advance Is pinch-hit for in the 8th, seemingly unrelated to the HBP You'll also be able to track Luke Roupe's pro debut via the top of the 1st game log. Only 16 pitches thrown, five batters faced, two outs secured, one run allowed, and a shoutout to catcher Freider Rojas for nabbing a baserunner at 2nd to end the inning after Roupe's exit. The A-Crew trailed 3-2 heading to the bottom of the 4th before rallying for three runs, some of which described in the Pena recap above. Utilityman Roderick Flores doubled in a run to tie the game. Flores has seen very limited action, but has contributed in all five games he's played, all at first base here in 2026, four of eight hits the XBH variety, 1.363 OPS (.727 OPS in his first Maryvale season last summer). Flores, a right-handed bat, then homered in the 5th, but it wasn't your garden variety. He pulled a 96.7 MPH ball to left field but circled the bases when White Sox left fielder Christian Gonzalez (not currently in Pipeline's Chisox Top 30) suffered an injury that forced him to leave the game, hopefully will be OK. A Fenelon RBI triple and Hughes RBI single capped the scoring in the 8th, set up by opposition errors to break the 6-6 tie. 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Ismael Yanez is the designated closer and did his job here. Earlier in the game, 20-year-old Dominican RHP Cesar Espinal stranded two runners for Roupe, and added a quiet frame of his own, fanning three total. RHP's Caleb Nieman and Hayden Vucinovich surrendered runs but each managed three innings of contributions. Stud RF Alexander Frias last played on Tuesday, now missing two games since his mid-game exit on that day, no apparent reason. Standard Saturday day game for Maryvale, we'll see if Luis Pena plays on the quick turnaround time. It's all-evening action for the full-season affiliates, with the Shuckers hopefully rallying in extras to complete their suspended game. Have a great day, folks. Marco Dinges hasn’t played catcher since exiting the May 5th contest early (9th straight as DH). Friday marked game #10 as DH-only. Any insights into what the organization is monitoring?

Player has likely been in Maryvale working with training staff there who are most familiar where the player is in the rehab process, and are best suited to monitor the player's return to action and to see how the body responds.

OF Mark Coley exited in the 4th inning after fielding a double in right field, so we’ll have to monitor his availability. *** MiLB goofed up on the game archive of this suspended contest, as if they had written over the original copy, a la the old VHS days, so for once, my paid subscription won't assist with more analysis here.

It's likely too early for ARobs to join in here, although LHP Tate Kuehner's 7-day IL stint did become official. Wednesday's Nashville game archive for those with subscription rights Regarding Kuehner's 3rd inning exit, go to the 01:56:00 hour/minute mark. Kuehner walks a man, time for a catcher visit, but he's trying to get comfortable, kind of shimmying his shoulder, making some telling facial reactions. Then allows a lined RBI base-hit on a 1-0 count. Makes three more pitches to old friend Raynel Delgado, then calls the training staff to the mound. They quickly call it a night. Difficult to discern to be honest, it's an upper body issue, and seemingly left side of the southpaw's torso. Could be anything from shoulder to side.

From the tail end of Monday's Link Report: "Both the Sounds and Timber Rattlers play at 10:05 Central on Tuesday, so I'll be sampling some Jeff Hem and Chris Mehring during my four-hour drive to a New Hampshire getaway" This was wild. I jumped on board just in time for the final two innings of the T-Rats drama, and then immediately transitioned to the hold-your-breath 9th inning with Nashville. A wonderfully entertaining 45 minutes or so, though I'm guessing I was the only person in the White Mountains to pull up Chris' and Jeff's calls today. Sounded great, guys!

Corbett, 29 years old, was signed in February and had split 2026 between Nashville and Biloxi. A 10th round pick by the Rangers in 2019, some background on that winter signing by the Crew can be found here. As for Quezada, it was quite a week, and we spotlighted that within our Minor League Forum's Transaction Thread. It's not a new transaction, but we are blessed to have a source to provide various Brewers organizational injury-related updates, and we learn more about Nashville corner infielder Luke Adams' still-pending status here. Each day, we kick off a discussion thread, almost an "as it happens" thread, on our Minor League Forum. With the usual light Monday schedule of only rookie-level games (Dominican Summer League yet to begin), that thread is often brief. The latest Monday thread contained updates on the Nashville stolen gloves situation, and yes, even pre-season Dominican action. Final: ACL Mariners 11, ACL Brewers 8 Box Score and Game Log The 4-8 Maryvale club scored eight runs for the 2nd time in three games, but are now riding a three-game skid, though it was a lovely 84-degree evening temperature at first pitch, It was an interesting pairing to begin the game on the mound, two 20-year-old's working their way back from summer 2024 Tommy John surgeries. RHP Hayden Robinson, drafted in the 14th round in 2023 out of a Louisiana high school, dazzled in six Maryvale appearances in 2024 before suffering his elbow injury, and somewhat remarkably was pitching again for the A-Crew just a touch over 12 months later, leading us to believe that he underwent the still very serious but less invasive internal brace form of TJ, making seven brief starts in 2025. This was his second start this summer, and the stat line shows Robinson will need to push forward past early results, as assuredly he will. LHP Joey Broughton tore his UCL just prior to the 2024 draft, allowing the Brewers to pluck him with a 13th round pick out of a Michigan high school and ink him to a well over-slot $535,000 bonus away from a University of Pittsburgh commitment. Broughton, unlike Robinson, did not pitch in the regular season last summer, making his pro debut on May 5th. This was his 3rd appearance. After a superb pro debut, 19-year-old RHP Ma'Kale Holden has walked eight and plunked another one over 6.2 innings in his two follow-up appearances. 20-year-old Venezuelan RHP Ismael Yanez is a 4th year pro and a rare 3rd-year Arizona League Brewer. The pair wrapped up mound work in this game, as your box score review showed. Maryvale baserunners were successful on seven of eight SB attempts, with RF Alexander Frias leading the way with three without being caught. Frias was able to run wild because of a double, single, and two walks. Frias was replaced defensively in the bottom of the 8th, after he had just contributed in a three-run Maryvale top of the inning that closed the gap to what would be the final 11-8 score. No indication in the game log that this was injury related. Nine of Frias' 17 hits thus far have gone for extra bases; he'll be playing in this beast mode all season at just 18 years old. It's notable that Frias' mid-level bonus of $350,000 is shaping up as a bargain. More expensive to sign, CF Brailyn Antunez ($900,000) and LF Kenny Fenelon ($1.3 million) each had two base knocks that included a double, for Antunez, his 1st two-bagger (his other two XBH's are home runs), 4th double for Fenelon (6th XBH). $1.1 million infielder Cristopher Acosta shifted from short to third base, he singled and walked as he tries to overcome a dreadful start at the plate. Review the error section of the box. Both teams were sloppy leading to unearned runs, with the Crew more heavily penalized. The team is in action again Tuesday evening, along with the rest of the organization.
