  1. This does not bode well for Torres to get chances for his first base hit of 2025. He is 0-for-23 in five games with the Timber Rattlers and four with the Shuckers. He has walked three times, scored a run, and notably, has only struck out twice!
  2. Nashville Press Release: The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the following moves that impact the Nashville Sounds roster: ADD: RHP Alexander Cornielle transferred to Nashville from Biloxi REMOVE: 1B Rhys Hoskins returned to Milwaukee from rehab C Nick Kahle placed on the Development List The Nashville Sounds roster currently sits at 28 active + 3 Injured List + 2 Development List
  3. I never quite know what to do about promoting affiliate jersey auctions. At one point I was directing to folks to all mentions (in prior years), but it became too overwhelming. If that's your interest, please follow the affiliates socials best you can and take part in the future.

  7. Sunday 9/7: Latest Milwaukee Tailgate Podcast - "Spencer was in for a home renovating Paul this week and we discussed a frustrating Phillies series, a Pirates series that got even better after we recorded, how things are setting up for October and the ongoing bullpen injury apocalypse." Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "The Brewers swept the Pirates and pulled closer to their goals, where it appears a playoff berth and first-round playoff bye are looking inevitable. Brewers reporter Curt Hogg and host JR Radcliffe explore the severity of the recent rash of bullpen injuries (and Christian Yelich), the likelihood of Quinn Priester as the No. 2 starter in the playoffs, the breakthrough performance by Jacob Misiorowski on Sunday and what type of extension would make sense for white-hot second baseman Brice Turang, who has become one of the team's most indispensable bats. Will Jake Bauers make the playoff roster? Is Brandon Woodruff all the way back? In Three Up Three Down (35:15), they ponder the elusive concept of the check swing, Aaron Civale's new landing spot and a late-season promotion for Jesús Made. In Remembrew When (53:15), George Scott hits a homer to break up a 1975 no-hitter with one batter to get. In Curt Blanche (58:15), Curt yells at clouds as football returns. Then, JR sits down with Brewers reliever Craig Yoho (1:06:00), whose role in the bullpen could get a bump after the rash of injuries. They discuss his crazy injury history -- including Tommy John surgery before he even became a pitcher, the development of his changeup, his unusually small signing bonus and his quick journey to the big leagues. 9. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: RHP Grant Anderson assigned to Nashville for MLB rehab LHP Nate Peterson transferred to Nashville from Biloxi. OF Jimmy Herron back to the Nashville Development List as the 29th man. Congratulations to Peterson, the Crew's 8th round pick in 2022 out of Illinois-Chicago, who has been utilized as a swingman in each of his three pro seasons thus far. Final: Nashville 7, Norfolk (Orioles) 6 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Cameron Homers, Provides Three RBIs in Sounds Win - Stallings Spins Second Straight Quality Start in Winning Effort As the linked game summary details, Daz Cameron's AAA season has been tremendous, .594 SLG in 56 games. The Sounds posted video of Saturday's home run here. Cameron's MiLB Player Page reminds us of his career differential as a minor leaguer vs. his various MLB stints. Yet, he's one of 55 players to don a Brewers uniform thus far in 2025, so he'll be among those fitted with a championship ring (no such thing as a jinx, folks). Brandon Lockridge is a very classy name, very Hollywood-ish. Even better? Cameron Lockridge, seen in the first two spots in the Nashville lineup. (Yes, you can tell Link Report season is winding down...) RH reliever Will Childers turns 25 in November, and the Brewers still have four additional years of team control. Picked up the save here and should be a staple of big-league camp invitations with a potential future as an optionable bullpen arm within the next few years with Milwaukee. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Biloxi 5, Pensacola (Marlins) 3 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Clutch Hitting, Elite Defense Lead Shuckers to Comeback Win - Shuckers tie 2016 team for 3rd-most home wins in a season, record two outfield assists Enhance that game summary write-up with upwards of eight video clips from this home game via the team's 'X' feed. Biloxi was outhit 12-6 so this wasn't an offensive breakout. The Shuckers were given four free passes, two of which were plunkings of Darrien Miller (hello, fellow human magnet Luke Adams). Through six seasons, the 24-year-old Miller carries a .372 OBP despite a .218 career batting average. Miller should find interest on the minor league free agent market this fall as a youthful LH bat who has made strides defensively behind the plate in recent seasons, though not yet a standout in that regard. Whether an MLB appearance eludes players with that profile or not, the MiLB landscape will pretty much guarantee employment to those of that ilk. Although starting RHP KC Hunt only walked one (seven K's), he needed 89 pitches to navigate 4.1 innings. RH reliever Abdiel Mendoza has been super solid since the calendar flipped to June, and he stranded two runners for Hunt in this one. Marlins' first base prospect Dub Gleed has picked up internet recognition steam in recent days due to his unique moniker but let it be known his actual first name is William, so there's that. To be honest, you could pair any first name with "Gleed", and you'd still have a cool full name. Final: Wisconsin 6, South Bend (Cubs) 4 Box Score and Game Log Rodriguez Strikes Out Eight in Wisconsin Win at South Bend We have officially reached the portion of our report where the word "penultimate" makes its appearance, with both the T-Rat and Mudcat season finales set for Sunday. And what's this, a 3rd straight win within this report? Nice... Not so nice? This nugget from the linked report above: Dinges was sidelined from June 30th to August 8th (see below) with a similar injury, hopefully last night's is less severe and he'll be able to fully participate in upcoming fall instructionals and such, although a potential Arizona Fall League stint may have to be ruled out (not that we're aware it was imminent). Ho-hum: A couple of other clips at the team's 'X' feed, including the elusive-as-of-late Luis Pena base knock, one of two for him in the game. Thank you, Manuel Rodriguez, for being you. Just 20 years old as of a month ago, the native of Mexico was effective as nearly always (meaning outside of his uncharacteristic first two outings in August). This is the second consecutive season he'll finish with a WHIP under 1.00, coming off his 2024 campaign with Carolina. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Fredericksburg (Nationals) 5, Carolina 0 Box Score and Game Log Mudcats Shutout at Fredericksburg With no momentum generated after Friday's walkoff playoff elimination loss, Carolina could muster only four base hits, with the lone XBH a Braylon Payne double (as in, maybe Payne should have been in the lineup Friday). 18-year-old RHP Tyler Renz deserved better (still find it incredible every time I type "18-year-old" for any player in full season ball), as Renz allowed only one hit - a two-run home run - in 4.2 innings. Another run was charged to Renz when it crossed the plate after his departure. 2025 Supplemental first round pick Brady Ebel, the designated hitter for this contest, was hit by a pitch in the 6th. He did remain in the game and ran the bases for himself; however, he was pinch-hit for in the 8th. Being the dedicated veteran ("old") Link Reporter that I am, I did tune in to the game video archive (MiLB TV subscribers can go to the 02:26:40 hour/minute mark here). It was an awkward situation. Ebel, a LH bat, was drilled on the back of his left elbow, which would be his deeper elbow in the batter's box. The initial view was pretty scary. After being visited by team Athletic Trainer Lauren Gottschall, Ebel, as noted, seemingly shook off what the Fredericksburg announcers surmised may have been one especially painful funny bone situation. Hopefully that's the extent of things, as we may not learn more for quite some time unless Ebel shockingly sees action Sunday. We'll get to see standout but on opposite ends of the age scale pitchers Tanner Gillis (25) and Melvin Hernandez (19) in the respective Wisconsin and Carolina finales Sunday. Nashville plays a matinee while Biloxi and starter Tyson Hardin get underway at 5:00 CT if you need an early evening baseball fix and a break from the NFL Red Zone (football, what's that?). 15. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: RHP Carlos Rodriguez recalled to Milwaukee from Nashville OF Jimmy Herron reinstated from the Nashville Development List Final: Norfolk (Orioles) 3, Nashville 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Winning Streak Halts at Six with Loss to Tides - Patrick totals seven strikeouts, Martinez Jr. hitting streak up to six games Considering Brewers necessary call-up RHP Carlos Rodriguez was initially Nashville's scheduled starter, Sounds pitching held up pretty well. Jeferson Quero's sacrifice fly in the 1st drove in the Sounds' lone run. Quero would be robbed later on, and Brandon Lockridge's attempt at a double was also foiled: With only three hits (the Lockridge knock wiped out as you saw above) and four walks drawn, Nashville did not have a single at-bat with a runner in scoring position. Rick Sweet's roster options on the position player side are many - 16 to choose from (including rehabber Rhys Hoskins, who was idle here). Bench players for this one - Ernesto Martinez, Jr., Ethan Murray, Steward Berroa, Oliver Dunn, Eric Haase, Jimmy Herron, Hoskins. There's a 13-man pitching staff. RHP Easton McGee will be optionable again in 2026, and with another strong showing here, seems a very strong candidate to maintain his 40-man roster spot through the coming offseason. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Pensacola (Marlins) 5, Biloxi 0 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Shuckers Drop Friday Night Matchup Against Blue Wahoos - Burke records multi-hit night, Peek, Bowman combine for 3.2 scoreless relief innings Like their AAA cousins, the Shuckers didn't have a worthwhile highlight to post on Friday night. Their opponents, however, had good reason to: As noted in the linked game summary, the Shuckers did record five singles over the final three innings, to no avail of the zero in the run column. Biloxi is 26-35 in the second half, and to be honest, it feels as though that's understating the malaise of a team that is getting healthier but not more productive. There are individual performances to celebrate, as you can read about here (Pratt, DeBerry Sweep Brewers Minor League Awards for August) and here (Burke Named Southern League Player of the Month for August). Jaron DeBerry muscled through 5.1 innings (98 pitches), touched for ten hits, also all singles. All 12 Blue Yahoo knocks in this game were of the one-base variety. Only eight regular season AA games remain before Biloxi is going to have to flip the proverbial switch. And by the way, someone will be waiting for them in that playoff matchup. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 9, South Bend (Cubs) 2 Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Blow Past Cubs with Late Rally - Wisconsin scores nine runs in last four innings for victory Well, at least this Cubs South Bend affiliate is also not playoff bound (congrats, Marlins and Beloit Sky Carp). What a pleasant surprise to see Luis Castillo in the starting lineup and contributing. On August 23rd, I watched Castillo tumble badly in a play described here by a fan on-site that night in Beloit. Seeing him back just two weeks later must be huge for the young man's psyche. 2-1 deficit through six innings? Chris Mehring's linked recap above provides plenty of detail for the subsequent eight Wisconsin runs. 22-year-old RHP Patricio Aquino isn't particularly adept at limiting base hits (74 in 67 IP, 1.51 WHIP), but only two balls have left the yard. Aquino was stellar in relief here. .310/.390/.451 through his first 18 games, nice: Kay-Lan Nicasia was 0-for-15 heading into August 31st's contest. In the five games since, he's 9-for-16 with two doubles and two home runs. Luke Adams just can't help himself, plunked by pitches twice in this game, three times since beginning his Wisconsin rehab, and now 24 times in 65 games in 2025 (after 61 HBP's in 2023 and 2024 combined). Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Fredericksburg (Nationals) 5, Carolina 1 Box Score and Game Log Fredericksburg Clinches Division with Win Over Mudcats The odds were stacked, but it would have been so sweet to have the second half division crown come down to a winner-take-all game between these clubs on Sunday. A win then would have extended the life of the ballpark in Zebulon, perhaps culminating in a magical championship run. Alas, it wasn't to be: Four Mudcat hits, all singles. Didn't take advantage of six free passes, 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position. Yes, it would have been fun to have seen the likes of Jesus Made, Luis Pena, Josh Adamczewski and Marco Dinges in the Carolina lineup, but we all know that's not how minor league seasons flow. Braylon Payne played all of both doubleheader games Thursday (the second as the designated hitter) and didn't play Friday. Having RHP Miqueas Mercedes make the start in a must-win game was a choice. Mercedes, just 19 years old as of July, had been hit hard, putting it mildly in his first four Carolina League appearances (game log). Mercedes sparkled including this: Groundouts-flyouts: Mercedes 10-0 It's a shame that fellow 19-year-old RHP Jayden Dubanewicz was the pitcher victimized in the clip above. It took until his fourth inning of work. Dubanewicz has been such a stud on either side of his season-long piggy-back starting/bulk role. Handelfry Encarnacion's RBI came on a groundout, meaning the only runs scored on the Brewers farm Friday by way of base hit came in the Wisconsin game. Only two Timber Rattlers games left. Only two Mudcats games left. The Shuckers have another week-plus to right their listing ship. The Sounds still have two-plus weeks remaining as all AAA teams stay active in case MLB help is required. Technically, it's still summer. Enjoy your day, all!
