Sunday 7/13: Postgame analysis after the 8-1 sweeping win over Washington: Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast with Curt Hogg & JR Radcliffe: "What an incredible week for the Brewers. Milwaukee went 6-0, sweeping the mighty Dodgers in the process, got some remarkable all-star news and won twice via walk-off. Host JR Radcliffe and Brewers reporter Curt Hogg discuss the shocking news of Jacob Misiorowski getting added to the all-star team (coincidentally after dominating the Dodgers?), the news that Trevor Megill is headed to Atlanta for the showcase as well and another strong start from Brandon Woodruff. Now 16 games above .500, the Brewers hit the all-star break on a high. Plus: Andrew Vaughn arrives in a huge way, Pat Murphy's decision to openly bench Joey Ortiz, Sal Frelick's injury and walk-off winners from Jackson Chourio and Caleb Durbin. In Three Up, Three Down (40:30), they talk Jesús Made in the Futures Game, Andruw Monasterio's heads-up baserunning, last year's No. 1 pick having a moment and ... Adrian Houser? In Remembrew When (54:30), JR revisits another week that could be considered the greatest in franchise lore, and Curt Blanche (1:00:15) tackles one component of All-Star Weekend. Then, JR interviews two Brewers players, including Andrew Vaughn (1:05:15), who had a sensational first week in Milwaukee with a home run in his first at-bat and game-tying hits in eventual walk-off wins twice. He also chats with Anthony Seigler (1:10:15), another newcomer who has the unique distinction of being able to throw with either hand. Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: Nashville Sounds sent RHP Carlos Rodriguez on a rehab assignment to ACL Brewers. Carolina Mudcats placed RHP Jack Hostetler on the full-season injured list. Futures Game Box Score / Log Jesus Made was called out on strikes in the first inning by the switch-pitcher the Brewers drafted but didn't sign: In the bottom of the 4th, Made singled on a ground ball to second base, deflected off White Sox LHP Noah Schultz. He would score on this HR. Made lined out to center field off Royals 2021 7th overall pick LHP Frank Mozzicato in the 5th inning of this seven-inning game. He would be replaced in the field to begin the 6th inning (Made played second base without any chances). Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Nashville 13, Durham (Rays) 1 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Nashville Slugs Their Way to Series Lead Over Durham - Sounds Collect 13 RBI on Three Home Runs Including Cameron's Grand Slam I had to check this note from the game summary: "Cameron's five RBI game gave him his 27th RBI in 14 games with the Sounds." The Nashville staff included three RBI with Milwaukee, so the number is actually 24 RBI in 14 games, but still... Last three starts for Logan Henderson - 15 IP, 1 BB, 15 K. We see you, Jeferson - If you're going to earn a Golden Sombrero, the time to do is when your team wins in a rout. This player has been excellent in 2025, so unless you click the box score, he'll remain anonymous. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Birmingham (White Sox) 9, Biloxi 5 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Lara Reaches Base 3 Times in Shuckers Loss to Barons - Brewers No. 20 prospect extends league lead with 23rd double, becomes 3rd Southern League player to 50 walks Friday night's Link Reporter wrote: Cooper Pratt has now missed a full week of action (last played on Friday July 4th), and with the All-Star Break looming, it would be almost shocking at this point to see him back this weekend. Well, consider that Link Reporter pleasantly surprised. When it comes to trying to predict player status during absences, we shouldn't be shocked that speculation is misguided more often than not. Pratt was the DH and walked and struck out one time each in five trips to the plate. A year ago, to the day, he was in the Futures Game. We will never tire of the Beach Chickens logo - To see players doing positive things in a down game scoreboard-wise but looking fantastic uniform-wise, visit the team's "X" feed this AM. We really have to appreciate what Luis Lara is doing at age 20 and go far beyond a rudimentary .714 OPS. Javik Blake did so in the Media Notes linked above. On the flip side, we miss 2024 K.C. Hunt. Just the one strikeout in four rough innings here. There aren't a lot of "went backwards" stories in the pipeline this season, here's hoping things spin around promptly here with the talented arm. Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: Wisconsin 3, South Bend (Cubs) 2 Box Score and Game Log Rattlers Bite Back with Late Homers - Pérez & Nicasia go deep in seventh to push Wisconsin past South Bend Is it still the "Timber Rattlers" if every Saturday home game is played under an alternate identity? I don't see the auction link for the "One Night Only" Frozen Pizza jerseys yet, but considering the proceeds go the T-Rats Giving Foundation, we'll link to that in the comments later tonight. Looking forward to getting RHP Tanner Gillis further stretched out each time out. Beyond the two huge home runs, Wisconsin had only two baserunners, both on singles. Making the most with what you have on the day. Not sure if we've seen Jadher Areinamo and Blake Burke hitting 1-2 very often, but it's a wise initiative. The question remains if it'll still be viable - are roster shakeups forthcoming this week? Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Carolina 5, Fredericksburg (Nationals) 3 Box Score and Game Log Payne Home Run Vaults Mudcats to Victory Seems fitting that Braylon Payne gets to celebrate exactly one-year after celebrating his status as a first-round pick and the $3.44 million that came with it. Awesome Bryce Meccage outing - only 81 pitches needed to get through six super-effective innings. His game log indicates a bit of an "every other start" vibe, no pressure, but we'd love to see this doubled up after the break. The nice crowd of 4,107 (awesome giveaway!) was treated by the Crew's top picks in the 2024 draft, for sure. Not to mention, using Craig Coshun's favorite phrase, "this guy": See you in next year's Futures Game, Luis! Final: ACL White Sox 6, ACL Brewers 5, eight innings (scheduled for seven) Box Score and Game Log After winning a wild 13-12 game in walkoff fashion on Friday, this one was a tough defeat of the walkoff variety. A-Crew led 4-2 heading to the bottom of the final scheduled inning, when RHP Carlos Carra's throwing error leading off the frame would eventually have two unearned runs (both on sacrifice flies) tie matters. A shame, because Carra was excellent, tossing scoreless ball in the three-prior innings. Frederi Montero's single scored the ghost runner, but that was all the good guys could muster. Back-to-back doubles off of RHP Argenis Aparicio put a quick end to the game. Burying the lead, Brewers 40-man roster RHP Carlos Rodriguez (flexor strain in right arm) made his first rehab appearance - 2.1 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 K, 1 HR. C-Rod retired the first six men he faced, then his 3rd inning went HR - double - popout - single - single before he was removed. Josh Adamczewski did not play. Hopefully we see him after the break. Final: DSL Brewers Blue 12, DSL Dodgers Mega 8 Box Score and Game Log Just your typical trailing 6-3 heading into the top-of-the-final-inning, then score nine runs (on two hits!) totake a 12-6 lead and survive 12-8. DSL baseball, baby! Needless to say, I'll allow you to pore over the minutia. At this point, Dominican box scores and game logs kind of blend into this very odd concoction, no? And isn't it presumptuous to call one's team "Mega"? Final: DSL Athletics 10, Brewers Gold 8 Box Score and Game Log As we were saying about baseball on the island, this game was 3-2 Athletics after seven innings. Then DSL stuff happened. Four-run Athletics 8th, oh no, this one's over, Golden Boys down 7-2. No wait, a six-run Golden 8th inning (featuring four actual hits, including 17-year-old Matthew Moses' 2nd pro home run, a three-run shot). Moses, like every other international position player signing (those that bat right-handed at least), is listed as a shortstop, but has only played first base in his 17 games. No wait again, Gold defense had a passed ball and two errors within a three-run 9th for the let's-not-say-Sacramento farm team. Somehow, all three runs were "earned". Bottom of the 9th - the G-Crew managed one baserunner but drop the contest. So, here's how the upcoming schedule rolls. Full-season teams only on Sunday. Rookie Complex League teams only on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. No games at all on Wednesday (well-earned day off, @Joseph Zarr!). Have a great Sunday and All-Star Break, everyone, go Brewers! A former co-worker of mine had recently moved to Philly from Massachusetts and offered us his apartment (and shower!) for that night. Thank goodness, because we didn't have money for a hotel anyway, ha. To answer your questions - no, the shirt isn't worth all that much today, and no, it doesn't still fit me. I'm thankful for Sirius/XM radio as I'm still trapped in that MTV era of music. Keeps the memories alive.

Image courtesy of BrewerFanatic Transactions: Milwaukee Brewers recalled RHP Tobias Myers from Nashville Sounds (LHP Aaron Ashby to Paternity List) Milwaukee Brewers sent CF Blake Perkins on a rehab assignment to Nashville Sounds. Nashville Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Durham (Rays) 5, Nashville 4 Box Score and Game Log Via the Sounds, game details, and we encourage readers to review affiliate write-ups as part of their Link Report routine: Sounds Fall in Walk Off Fashion Friday in Durham - Patrick Tosses Quality Start in Return to Nashville Homer-fest in Durham, and that was a particularly strong game summary you just read, linked above. As was noted, this was only Tyler Black's 2nd multi-hit effort in 20 games with the Sounds. This was a bomb, and in the moment, huge: Speaking of bombs, my goodness, this was the blast that tied things for the Bulls in the 8th off of Will Childers. This was Childers' 2nd Nashville appearance since his promotion, but his first in a full week's time. No idea how this reach out of a swing managed to pull the Elvis Peguero pitch for the walkoff loss - Rehabbing CF Blake Perkins K'd four times in an 0-for-5 night. His 26-man MLB roster spot is not a guarantee once he's healthy. It's been a long time since Manager Rick Sweet had such a full complement of players for a full bench, Perkins' rehab presence adds to the raw numbers - this game saw Daz Cameron, Bobby Dalbec, Ernesto Marinez, Jr., Jimmy Herron and Jorge Alfaro relegated to a night off. Workmanlike outing for Chad Patrick, we'd expect nothing less. Over time, we'll let our Statcast analysis folks here on the site determine the extent he's "working on things" to enhance his future big-league opportunities. Biloxi Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Birmingham (White Sox) 6, Biloxi 2 Box Score and Game Log Catch up with the latest Biloxi pre-game audio interview archives Shuckers Fall to Barons on Friday Night - Bullpen allows one unearned run across 5.0 innings in 6-2 loss Cooper Pratt has now missed a full week of action (last played on Friday July 4th), and with the All-Star Break looming, it would be almost shocking at this point to see him back this weekend, allowing for further recovery time. Recovery from what? It's possible the Voice of the Shuckers Javik Blake has slipped in a mention, but it's hard for us to be hinging on every audio call. We know they're Link Report fans, so we'll put the Bat Signal light out here to the Adam McCalvy / Curt Hogg duo to please do a reach-out to front office folks, thanks. Go figure, the absences of Pratt, Brock Wilken and Luke Adams are impacting the offensive performance of the first-half champs. Luis Lara walked three times and was hit by a pitch. He never scored, which the box score zeroes beneath him will indicate. Lara's OBP is .361, I've always treated the .360 mark as a take-notice figure, especially in this case for a switch-hitter that won't turn 21 years old until November. One might think this was Tyson Hardin's roughest outing of 2025, but that would be this Timber Rattlers start on June 5th. None of his other 14 starts this season approach any level of difficulty. He's just fine, but how can workload concerns not be an issue fairly soon? Wisconsin Pre-Game Media Notes (download link) Final: South Bend (Cubs) 6, Wisconsin 2 Box Score and Game Log Cubs Stop Rattlers - Rojas homers twice to lead South Bend past Wisconsin It's getting more difficult to mine positives from this 2025 Rattlers club. Mother Nature's constant interventions don't help, which Manager Victor Estevez touches on in the podcast linked above. As Voice of the T-Rats Chris Mehring and Estevez rightly noted within the pod, kudos to RH reliever Stiven Cruz for his mid-inning efforts. Infielder Juan Baez and his .245 SLG (not a misprint) batted cleanup Thursday night. He batted in the five-hole Friday. That gives you a sense of the current state of the position player roster. Catcher Blayberg Diaz has had to step up in Marco Dinges' absence, and he doubled, singled and walked here, and threw out one of the three Cubs attempted base stealers. Mehring tells us in the video package above that Diaz has a lot of family in town, good for him. You have to listen to Chris' opening comment regarding Wisconsin's pitchers as the video package begins. The immediate corresponding lowlight encapsulates things perfectly. Carolina Pre-Game Media Notes Final: Fredericksburg (Nationals) 5, Carolina 3 Box Score and Game Log Fredericksburg Turns Back Mudcats Four Mudcats errors led to four unearned runs. Do the math vs. the final score. Sigh. By far, the most encouraging aspect of the organization's affiliate play of late has been the fantastic performances of the 2024 high school arms now excelling in both Carolina and Maryvale. The brilliant, continued pairing of 19-year-old RHP Jayden Dubanewicz and 18-year-old RHP Ethan Dorchies combined to walk one batter and strike out ten. This is the second time in three games the combo has told the rest of the bullpen to take the night off. Dubanewicz was extended to 86 pitches here. Luis Pena doubled and singled. There's a close-up shot of him among the four videos at the Carolina "X" feed. Final: ACL Brewers 13, ACL Padres 12 Box Score and Game Log Walk-off ground-rule double from slugging RF Handelfry Encarnacion, now with 22 XBH's among his 45 knocks in 2025. It's one thing when you have a score like this and there's an accompanying game summary at the full-season level. For the complex leagues, we just settle down in a recliner, fire up our phone or laptop, and immerse ourselves in the line score, player lines, and play-by-play. Go ahead, I'll wait the 30 minutes or so you need. Rehabbing second baseman Josh Adamczewski reached base four times before being pinch-hit for by Jadyn Fielder in the 9th inning. Adamczewski played defense through the top of the inning, so no need to think this was anything but saying "enough" for the night for Josh, working through his return from troubles with his back. Demetrio Nadal, playing left field, was a home run shy of a cycle. Six of the 17 A-Crew hits were for extra bases. Big night for the 18-year-old 2nd year pro and 2024 signing seen below - two doubles, single, walk, two stolen bases: Three of the five Brewer pitchers threw well. LHP Enderson Mercado is better than this outing shows, but RHP Joshua Quezada, 21, hit three batters as part of his seven-runs-allowed single inning. Final: DSL Brewers Gold 7, DSL Astros Blue 6 Box Score and Game Log Brilliant managing? Check out the game log for the last-gasp Astros rally in the bottom of the 9th. Seems to me this defensive replacement with two outs was timely. Combined figures - seven errors. Thirteen stolen base attempts, ten successful. Seven wild pitches. A four-hour game. As wild as an occasional MLB game can be, the DSL landscape is just a different world. Final: DSL Brewers Blue 6, DSL Red Sox Blue 0, seven innings as scheduled Box Score and Game Log Nobody blue in the Crew's dugout! Check out this post from our forum Gameday thread for insights to this game's starter, Diustin Mayorquin. Mayorquin's fellow hurler for this one, RHP Steven Duran, is still just 16 years old. His first 11 eleven innings have gone very well. 17-year-old catcher Johanderson Tarazona has played in only 12 of the team's first 28 games. Two errors, two passed balls, thrown out six of 25 batters, all reasonable for the island league. But let's get this young man and his 1.025 OPS some DH at-bats as well! There's another seven-game package on Saturday with all teams in action. Is Henderson-Hunt-Gillis-Meccage a 2030 string of big-league Brewers rotation days? Save this post if so! Enjoy your day, everyone.
