Bill and Daron keep saying that Sheets had a nasty curveball yesterday. What did he throw, about 7 good ones? Uecker was calling it "so-so", which is about a million times closer to the truth.

You have to pitch a whole inning to get a save unless the tying run is on deck, batting, or on base.

Not even we can blow a 7 run lead in the 9th. So there is NO WAY you use your best two relievers. It is just dumb, dumb, dumb for so many reasons. I pointed out a couple. Maybe in a normal game that would be true, you don't want to waste your best pitchers in a blowout. But we're 2 days away from the all star break and both of those guys can pitch about 4 days a week. If they don't care about the end of the bench guys getting work in (which they don't), using Wise and Turnbow is the right call.

Maybe those beers are mellowing me out, but I don't know why you guys are jumping all over Yost for this one. We don't need DLR to get any work if we've decided that he's only on the roster because he has no options, which I think we have long since done. The nightly fascination with him around here is just bizzare. Wise was the best guy to pitch the 8th if you didn't want to take any chances. He pitches two innings all the time. He had a bad inning. I don't think that's going to crush anybody's confidence.

I've given up caring about De la Rosa getting any work. The coaches have probably decided that they aren't going to use him when it matters and that he can get work in at the Mexican winter league or wherever he goes.

It's not technically a rain delay. They have been trying to put that dirt-dry stuff on the field for about a half an hour. They don't want to bring the tarp out because the Braves lose if it's called.
