  1. From what I have heard there has been some serious griping during the last couple years from relievers and bottom-end of the rotation guys about Macha's style. If I had to guess I'd put my money on this move being about cutting loose a guy who is considered more trouble than he's worth when he starts complaining.
  2. JJ seems to have developed quite a sense of entitlement. I guess that's the risk you run when you hand over a position to a guy before he earns it. His attitude makes me think giving him a dose of humility might have factored into the demotion in the first place. I don't know if Melvin screwed with his service time on purpose or not, but I don't care. We don't need to spend a lot of effort to make sure somebody who is under-performing and replaceable doesn't get his feelings hurt. If Melvin was trying to stick it to him, that's fine with me. It might have given him more trade value, which is probably what Melvin wants to do with him. However, Melvin is still not forced to do anything. That's the way it is when you control somebody's rights. If JJ doesn't like that he can cry to the union.
  3. When I first heard this story, I thought it was kind of funny. The guy wanted a bunch of free crap. Har har har. That doesn't mean I respect this guy's hobby, though. Yeah, people are different. Some people like collecting balls or beanie babies or my little ponies. The fact that there are people weirder than this guy isn't going to stop me from making fun of him. Really the only thing that bothers me is how he gets all sanctimonious. First of all, if you're a cop and you want respect, you don't get to whine about how someone not kissing your ass means it has something to do with your job. You're better off just shutting up and doing your job the way you're supposed to instead of reminding everybody what a great guy and selfless public servant you think you are. Secondly, wow at this dude's blog. I think he spent a little bit too much time on that. This guy needs a hobby or something. Oh, wait..
  4. The gold glove at 3rd base in the NL basically belongs David Wright unless he gets injured, whether he deserves it or not. Even if Hall actually had a superior year, the award is handed out based on reputation and he can't compete with Wright there.
  5. Why does Paulino keep throwing over to 1st with Hardy on? And a pitch out? I seriously think the Astros might have gotten their scouting reports on Hart and Hardy mixed up.
  6. I think the bit about Berkman was a joke, the problem is that Justice is so clueless that it's hard to tell if he's being sarcastic or just slightly dumber than usual.
  7. Apparently they don't like the look of the VDSL cabinets. Please...) They had some similar kind of argument in Madison a couple of years ago. Apparently some people haven't noticed that there are already electrical boxes that look just like them all over the planet.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eyes.gif
  8. Buster Olney says the Yankees opening offer is around $140 million. So long, CC.
  9. 93.1 actually just went out of business. Who would've ever thought the classic rock market could get too crowded? That's probably good for the new "lake" though, because otherwise some people in the western Milwaukee metro area could have picked up 3 different "lakes" with 94.5, 93.1 and 96.1 from Lake Geneva all having the same name.
  10. This is what I was going to say. My sister's cat had the same issue and it turned out it had particles in the urine or something. The prescription was a special brand of food. But that stuff's kind of expensive, so letting it run away might be a better idea.
  11. I don't see how this is bottom-line newsworthy because it remains to be seen how competitive the offer will be. It could just be a PR move by the Brewers to make it look like they are trying no matter how serious they actually are.
  12. Either the sound is muffled in the press box or Bob Ford is a complete idiot; his article is ludicrous. Not only was game 3 the loudest game I've been to at Miller Park by a mile it was also louder than any game at Camp Randall. Really, at times I thought it was loud enough to be more irritating than cool.
  13. Don't get your hopes up. Remember that Braun's $45 million deal was the biggest in team history. CC will get twice that and maybe 3 times that amount.
  14. Wow, what an original idea! Do the Brewers really deserve to have their fans put paper bags on there heads? Usually this happens to ...Yeah that doesn't seem quite right. He should go to the game with a noose around his neck instead.
  15. Dumb pitching by Suppan against Duke cost him 3 runs. Fastball fouled off because he swung late. Fastball looked at for a strike. Breaking ball down the middle? You don't throw slow stuff over the plate to a pitcher who can't hit your fastball when it's 0-2.
  16. Haudricourt wrote a blog piece about his article about this where he talks about his conversation with Boras. It's not really interesting or anything, Boras thinks it's nobody's business and TH was a little queasy about doing a story that was mandatory and kind of makes himself look like a wimp who cares too much about not falling out of favor with somebody in the clubhouse. The thing that gets me is the comments after the blog where people think it's "not news". One guy says he's canceling his subscription. Are you kidding me? Agreeing with Boras is just asinine. It's not a "personal matter", hence the reason it appears in court documents which are publicly available. And since when are pro athletes' finances ever private? If TH didn't write anything he would be the worst hack in the universe.
  17. UW didn't recruit Maymon because he has a lot of baggage. He has some work to do to be academically eligible and he's got a headcase stage dad who demanded that he start and had previously stated that schools offering Jeronne would also have to give his less talented brother a scholarship. That's why his other finalists were Iowa State and Baylor.
  18. Normally I'm not a big bunting guy, but a 0-0 game in the bottom of the 8th with nobody out is a pretty good time to do it.

  20. Exactly. The "the same people..." argument is annoying and totally non sequitur. Also, BA made it sound like a double steal, although I don't know for sure. It was dumb whoever's idea it was.
  21. You are 100% wrong. Double steals only come from the dougout. The runners took off at the same time, it would be pretty stupid for the guy at 1st to do that on his own.
  22. Terribly stupid double steal attempt with one out and Sheets on deck. Yost gets lucky that Hardy struck out so he doesn't look quite as dumb.
