  1. Turnbow likes to make things "interesting", so I like the bigger cushion for him today with all the balls flying out.
  2. I'd bring the Bow into the game even though its not a save situation. Anybody that can see the game know who is coming in?
  3. Oh well, nice day for Jenks today anyway. No complaints about a 3-for-4, 3 doubles afternoon.
  4. Alright, good inning. Could have been better, but we'll take it, especially considering the Cubs chose to pitch to Miller. But, I don't think 6 runs will hold up, so hold the Cubbies here and keep on scoring runs.
  5. Can we admit, if not for just one day, that the main reason our team sucks is because the players aren't doing their jobs? Well said. Managers and coaches can only take just so much of the blame. At some point major leaguers need to get a bunt down, field a ground ball, induce a ground ball, put a ball in play, etc.
  6. Bunting Hardy is one thing. Bunting by any major league non pitcher with 2 strikes is another You have to get the bunt down in that situation, plain and simple. If you fail with no strikes and fail with 1 strike, you still have to get it down with 2 strikes. Allowing a guy to fail at a simple fundamental, then "reward" him by allowing him to swing away is a chicken-turd concept most managers use. The whole point in bunting is to get the runner into scoring position with only 1 out without risking grounding into a double play. By swinging away, you bring the DP and the K back into the mix.
  7. You mean the Cubs scored the winning run without bunting a guy over?? Take notice Ned. Bunting with a runner on 1st and nobody out is still the right move, IMO. You can't fault the manager for expecting his #2 and #7 hitters to be able to get a bunt down.
  8. Hey cool... that's what a sac bunt looks like?
  9. I'd like to thank Neifi Perez for getting thrown out right in front of the hottest hitter on the planet.
  10. It looks like the Brewers just sent Brad Nelson down to AA. As expected with Cruz being promoted.
  11. TailGat0r, I hope you're right!
  12. Forgive me if I don't have much confidence in the 7-8-9 hitters tying the game this inning. Please prove me wrong.
  13. Holy Cow... a Brewers pitcher got Derek Lee out?
  14. In the top of the 9th, when we had a 2 run lead, why wasn't Overbay put in as a defensive replacement? First of all, its always easy to question this after the error. But, more importantly, Overbay is not that good defensively himself. The only advantage he would have had on that play would have been that the ball was hit to his glove side, whereas Helms had to play the backhand. Should Helms have played it cleanly? You bet. Have we seen Overbay make worse plays? Absolutely. I don't see where anybody can be blamed on that one ( not putting Overbay in as a def. replacement).
  15. Probably because nothing clicks all at the same time. Tonight we got nothing out of our 2-3-4 hitters and nothing I can remember from 7-8-9. Carlos hasn't done anything in a couple of days. Nobody on base in front of Hall's homers. Once Jenkins got on all three times, nobody could do so much as even move him over. Ugly. Again.
  16. Seeing the Yankees score 20 runs tonight on 23 hits (13 runs in one inning) makes you really see just how pathetic this offense (and team) are. Without looking it up, I'll bet we haven't scored 20 runs in our last 6-7 games combined. The Yankees scored 13 runs in one inning... I'm not sure that's indicative of, well, anything. (other than what a lineup consisting of Jeter, ARod, Sheffield, Matsui, Tino, et al can do once in a while).
  17. Somebody please tell Carlos we're not playing the Cardinals.
  18. Nice job JJ on the decoy! Get the bats moving now!
  19. Well, things have certainly changed quickly.
