  1. I think we see Ortiz have a very good season (.260+ BA, .345+ OBP, 750 OPS), while being a gold glove finalist.
  2. I took the completed trades Matt Arnold has been a part of since taking over as GM, pulled data on the type of offensive profile and defensive profile they seem to go after both via trades and in the draft, ran the synched data against/across the other 29 teams, and keeping only those that play 3B, 2B, or SS and ran that data through stat cast to see how they profiled defensively in the Majors.
  3. Blue Jays: Will Wagner Diamondbacks: Geraldo Perdomo Marlins: Otto Lopez Rangers: Josh Smith Rays: Taylor Walls Royals: Michael Massey Tigers: Trey Sweeney Twins: Edouard Julien White Sox: Bryan Ramos Yankees: Oswaldo Cabrera The above list, per a few criteria, (years of control remaining, defense is at or can be a + skill based on age, height, weight, and standard minor league skills available via data collection and also cost to acquire taken into consideration. The top 3 options for me: Michael Massey, LHB, 4 years of control, Statcast shows elite range at 2B, and is improving. Royals will want young prospects/bullpen help based off need Otto Lopez, RHB, 5 years of Control, baserunning, and defense are at elite + levels, bat is surprisingly crossing into promising territory. Marlins will want lower level (AA or lower) prospects Geraldo Perdomo, Switch-Hitter, 3 years of control, the William Contreras-lite special (under the radar bat, promising defensive skill set, but Perdomo offers baserunning skills that are already borderline elite) D'Backs will want young but close to majors pitching (Gallen in walk year), or infield prospects (Naylor in walk year)
  4. There's one pitcher I'd move Mis + for, it's Skubal. He is not just dominant, it's effortless dominance to the point it appears he's playing with his food. A lefty with this type of stuff, with the years of control is such a coup, you make that move every single time it's in front of you and if it doesn't work this year or next, move him ala Burnes with a year before free agency to recoup some of the prospect talent you shipped out. You build up a farm system to help supplement the Major League roster and to make moves to help the Major League roster, this would be such a monumental win to that clubhouse, you'd imagine those players would do the opposite of Hader and could spurn a deep playoff run.
  5. I think we still see an SP upgrade at the deadline, I think the pieces teams would want are on the 40-man already, and a prospect like Tyler Black would draw some interest. Black reminds me a bit of Joey Ortiz before the Burnes deal from a prospect eval standpoint, so Black + Frelick(?), and an additional prospect in the back half of the system should net you a SP with 1.5 + years of control IMO.
  6. I think we see Frelick moved at the deadline if Mitchell comes back and stays healthy, Black + Frelick, and maybe a fringe prospect should net an SP with some years of control and I am hoping that particular deal can be found.
  7. 100% agree and this notion they won't be aggressive seems odd considering they have been aggressive every year they needed an ace from CC to Greinke to adding the bats when they needed it. It's not a FO mo either its an org way of going about adding when they need a position.
  8. I prefer an acquisition that feels like an upgrade and not one for the sake of adding one, for me personally.
  9. Crochet and Quantrill would be fascinating. One high upside, ace-like talent with an innings eater who is a solid 4 in the rotation. With Crochet’s name floated as available, and with Passan seemingly indicating the Brewers are looking at a LHP ace ala Luzardo or Crochet, this could be the making of a very fun deadline for the Brew Crew.
  10. Lists quite a few interesting names available: Garrett Crochet (FA after the 2026 season) Cal Quantrill (FA after the 2025 season) Austin Gomber (FA after the 2025 season) Luis Severino (FA after the 2024 season, would have $4m left on current deal) Nick Pivetta (FA after the 2024 season) Jack Flaherty (FA after the 2024 season) Aaron Civale Brewers excerpt: "Few teams have as good an understanding of who they are and where they exist in their contention cycle as the Brewers. Two years ago, they got filleted for trading closer Josh Hader while in first place in the NL Central. Well, the main pitching prospect in the deal, Robert Gasser, has been Milwaukee's best pitcher since debuting May 10. And outfielder Esteury Ruiz, who arrived in the deal, was later flipped in a deal for William Contreras, who should start at catcher for the NL All-Star team. Gasser reporting soreness in his elbow after his last start doesn't exactly buttress the idea that the Brewers should go for it, but with a top-end starting pitcher joining Freddy Peralta in a playoff rotation, Milwaukee would cement itself as an even greater threat to Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Atlanta. Garrett Crochet certainly fits and is what they hope DL Hall -- whom they got in a deal for Corbin Burnes, the sort of ace they really could use now -- can be: a lefty with obscene stuff who can head a rotation. Same goes for Jesus Luzardo. Milwaukee has the system to land one of them."
  11. Bleacher Report for what it's worth says the following offer for Luzardo: Milwaukee Brewers get LHP Jesús Luzardo in exchange for IF Tyler Black (No. 43 on B/R Top 100), OF Luis Lara, RHP Logan Henderson, 3B Eric Bitonti I would do that deal
  12. Luzardo this season has only pitched 3 games away from home, 16.2 IPs with a 6.48 ERA compared to 35.0 IPs with a 3.09 ERA at home. The 3 away games though have been - 6 innings, 3 earned runs against SD, 6 innings, 2 earned runs against CHC, and the lone blow-up was against the Yankees in New York on 4/8 at 4.2 innings and 7 earned runs. He went on the IL back in late April and returned on May 11th, since his return he's looked very good - 25.2 innings, 1.75 ERA, 2,21 FIP. All of that to say, the Brewers historically (albeit with different people running the show) go after the stud ace at the deadline if they are both in it and need an SP 1 (or SP 1b to Freddy's 1A) - I think acquisition cost as well, we can compete with most teams farm systems in my opinion and would be open to moving Jacob Misiorowski, Luis Lara, and two lesser 11-20 and outside the top 30 prospects. I would offer something like = Joey Wiemer, Jacob Misiorowski, Luis Lara, and Bradley Blalock.
  13. Typical Brewers move to trade for a position not necessarily seen as a need at current. I would be open to moving Wiemer, Turang and two other prospects for a sure fire controllable 2B, if it meant we could sign Adames to a condensed extension. It feels like this trade deadline will be rather interesting with the impending exodus
  14. Matthew Wood is another who has come on strong this season and could be included with one of the names you mentioned.
  15. Before the collision/injury, with Seattle's placement in the standings, not a bad shout. Might not cost Black, as France has 2.5 years of control left. Seattle is 5 back in the Wild Card standings and a bad showing this week could push them to sell
