    Word was Detroit wanted Henderson as part of the package for Skubal. I said at the time I wouldn't give Henderson straight up for him much less a package for that rental. I also don't doubt May will end up with an equal or better showing for the rest of this year. That's why I would never trade major comp for any rental. What we gave for May was plenty, too much really but not anywhere near what we would have had to for Skubal.

    I was dead against giving Woodruff a QO because I expected him to accept it. The Brewers I think were hoping he wouldn't. That with the injury was a disaster. Without the injury he's still not worth 20 million at this point with age and history the way I looked at it. Bauers is a different story. Young with no injury history. I would be far more happy with a QO made to him than I was with Woody but still a bit of a reach. I can see the reason for it though, far less risk than Woody was with great return potential. If he did accept it then hopefully we could get real return for Vaughn. If he leaves we still have Vaughn and I believe Burke would be up to platoon before long.

    Possible, but I see Fischer sticking at 3rd. Made, Pratt, Pena and of course Turang if he stays makes for a stuffed situation if that be the case.

    There are a lot of prospects I really like. With Made and Pena off the table for me in the past trade talks I would also have had guys like Burke and Fischer near off. All 4 of those guys figure heavily in the Brewers future plans.... Which one most likely traded down the road? Hopefully none but I would say Pena, positional duplication. Only with serious return and likely packaged if ever so...

    The key word in Murph's Yeli speech is "was". This is a game of high stakes and it is all about what you can do for me NOW. Yeli should get a little rest and extra time working in the cage with the instructors. He should be strictly platooned with match ups and moved to 7 or 8 in the lineup. I had recommended 5 or 6 earlier but that was out of loyalty. 7 or 8 and platooned until he has earned better. We have Lockridge and Frelick returning soon, once they knock some rust off they need to be made us of. The focus must be to play the best players we have at the very best spots in the lineup for the TEAM. It is all about winning and earning your place, loyalty is important but takes a 2nd row seat.

    It was a lot to give but both these arms will no doubt help the team right away and into the post season. I don't like giving up two valuable prospects for a couple of rentals, hopefully we have a chance at contracts with one or both. May likely turns down his player option and I don't think we risk a qualifying offer. We'll see. That's right, May doesn't qualify for the QO anyway....

    I've given up on Yelich. He should be strictly platooned and batting 7 or 8. What we need is Contreras and Chourio to get and stay hot. We need Bauers and Turang and Mitchell and Vaughn to hit like they have been and more. Vaughn just needs more at bats. Hopefully Frelick comes back healthy and can help. All the focus can't just be on the Dodgers. We have to get to them and then play lights out ball.

    I liked both of those prospects, saw Rags play in Appleton on a day he went 2-3 with a homer and a great defensive play. We had offered Pena and 2 other prospects for Skubal, that would have upset me far worse. I think we at least have a chance to sign May after the year is over which would not have been the case with Skubal. May and Romero definitely help this team and make us stronger for post season. No doubt. I don't like it, but I understand it. Glad we did not throw away top 10 guys. Not just Made, but Pena and Fischer were off limits in my book.

    I hate giving up prospects and I really like Ragsdale but both trades on the final day made total sense. We without a doubt improved our team as we ease into the post season without burning a present top 10 prospect.

    We have what, 3 hitting coaches and others who certainly know a little about hitting and related adjustments? They must have a theory and Contreras has been getting more rest this year than ever. Just like with Yelich, may have to move him down in the lineup as it sits right now. 5 or 6 for him and 8 or 9 for Yelich.

    The Brewers will no doubt make at least one move today, very happy they didn't overpay for some of the players already moved. Strategic and fair comp move or moves otherwise sit tight. No reach, no desperation, no overpay. That is what we need to do above all. To me Made is off the table but the likes of Pena and Fischer are near off. A few others are also very nearly off. Do NOT trade top prospects for rentals and in the case of Miller (who I would love to trade for) don't overpay with the supposed FOUR top prospects they are asking for.

    I expect he may very well be traded, but not before December and only then for a windfall.

    It has to be the move you make before the bigger move. Otherwise we traded 2 MLB usable depth pieces for 2 Triple A pieces. I guess I did like the Yoho potential more than most...

    Darrien Miller certainly could be moved up and added to the 40. Who do you remove to make room? Black and Rodrigues are two I'd like to see added to swing something for an example. I'd have more faith in adding a Eric Haase type than trading for Naylor if we truly have such a need. We'll see....

    Naylor a backup quality catcher has hit about .200 with a high strike out rate. I think Yoho if he stays healthy is going to be real good in his role. Perkins a gold glove quality defensive player and great club house guy. The reliever we got better have some potential. At least Naylor has options... This might indicate a catcher may be leaving us soon, either Sanchez or Quero....Just guessing. Can't see the gain otherwise with this trade..

    Need? I don't think they NEED anything. But it would be nice in a sensible trade to add an arm or two. If we could add a hitter with some power (Parades) it would be nice enough. Sensible the key word here.

    No harm in talking. Brewers have usually been very smart at this time of the year, please continue that. NO rentals unless incredibly on the cheap and don't overpay for anyone else either. We are fine as is with maybe a couple of minor addons when they make sense.

    Would love Miller on the team but no way going to overpay. Made off the table and a half dozen others near off.

    Being reported from some good sources the Brewers are trying (talking) to trade for Mason Miller. I think he's controllable through '29. I mean, great get but what would we have to give for him? I don't like the answer.

    Quero and a 40 man prospect we need to move (Black or Rodrigues) is the most I would give for Soriano and that's plenty.

    If we're going to add anyone of consequence I would think it would be an arm, either starter of reliever who would see a lot of work. If it were to be a bat someone that would fit like Isaac Parades makes sense as long as the comp wasn't too high. He may not even be available just a shot. Why would you pay premium comp for Abrams, we have the personnel as it sits. Ortiz works a gold glove at SS and 3B and of late his bat is red hot. Hamilton isn't a bad platoon at times. We're OK there. The near future has Burke and Fischer and Made and Pena and others all needing call ups infield wise. No way do I want to part with top prospects and especially so for a rental. If the Mets would unload Freddy P for very reasonable comp I'm all for it even if he's struggled this year and never been good post season. I'm thinking a guy we need to move off the 40 man anyway, say Black or Rodrigues? Maybe that's even too much....

    For the right offer anyone is available. I would actively listen to any interest on Sanchez, but the comp would have to be real. We're not gifting him to anyone.

    I'd like either of these arms added, but not involving a controllable present starter. We have prospects that have value I'd be willing to part with, a couple on the 40 that really need to go. Package kind of deal....may or maybe not for arms of this quality. But arms that could help.
