  1. They should be working in Mono Stereo and getting Outiz's "bat" out of the lineup. Joey is a slightly above average defensive player but he's massively below average offensively. Even pinch hitting for him in the late innings with one of our excess first baseman isn't enough.
  2. You aren't getting Lawler unless the Brewers give up something like Pratt, Misiorowski and Henderson. Or Pratt and Contreras. No sense in talking about elite prospects unless you are willing to make a huge offer.
  3. I like to think of stealing bases as SB-3*CS. That way, anyone stealing at over 75% success rate is helping the team score runs. By that measure, I think the 2024 Brewers may have been the best team in MLB history at base stealing.
  4. I think they will let him compete at 3B and see what he can do. They value defense though so he might not make it there. But I can't figure out why Jake Bauers would be the backup at 1B/DH when they have Black. It seems like Bauers has had his chances. He's 29 years old. Now THAT ship has sailed.
  5. "his ceiling would be akin to the 1987-1992 version of Paul Molitor." Mr. Black must live in a single-story house that is 50 feet tall, because that ceiling is impossibly high. You just compared him to a HOF'er at his peak? C'mon man, nobody is buying that comp. More realistic hopes would be .260/.350/.400 like a poor man's Shin-Soo Choo or something.
  6. Ortiz is already a make. He was 6th on the team in WAR last season.
  7. No player is a lock for 20+ HR considering injury potential always exists. But Chourio is in the top 20 most likely players in all of baseball to do it. To say he won't is a hot take. I would not think PECOTA is in the hot take business.
  8. Garrett Mitchell can replace 25 HR and 170 K's.
  9. He has a lifetime 99 OPS+ and last year he had a 96 OPS+. I would not expect much "bounce back".
  10. You think Sal Frelick has more trade value than Jeferson Quero? Not many teams have won with a slap hitter in right field.
  11. He's a very good player, but he won't be worth what someone will be offering him. Let that sink in.
  12. $5.5m for an innings eater 4th/5th starter seems like a decent deal if you think he can have an ERA+ of 90-100. I guess they don't feel he can do that again.
  13. He had an 85 OPS+ in 2024 to bring his career total up to 75 OPS+. Jim Gantner had a career 88 OPS+ for perspective. Turang is a classic good field, no hit. Though he does add the additional element of excellent baserunning.
  14. No. Just no. We don't need to repeat the Braun and Yelich blunders.
