Your whole argument has been shown to be nothing but a strawman...I, and everyone else, all posted that we expected him to be a below average SS. And now, in addition to your strawman, you are just making stuff up to try to cover for your baseless arguing. Pathetic.

    Sorry you feel that way. Most of my posts have just stated that he isn't average like some people like to pretend he is. In fact he is well below average. I didn't trash him every single day but you are entitled to your hyperbole. Hairston was an option at SS after he was picked up. I put that on the manager though. I believe a left side of Hairston Green would have been better than Hairston and Yuni. No one....meaning not anyone believed him to be average. No one has ever disagreed that he is below average. If the reason you have been repeating the same posts over and over all season is to disagree with those who believe Yuni is an average player...well...your posts have been directed at an audience of 0 people. You've been fighting a strawman this whole time. Unless, you too were using hyperbole there. If it wasn't everyday, it was most days, if you count the game threads, and that isn't hyperbole.

    Replacement level is still 2 wins below average. I figured he would be close to replacement level. Close is a subjective term but the average MLB SS hit .262/.316/.378/.695. Betancourt .268/.271/.381/.652. I guess .381 is above .378 so sure his SLG is technically above average. Of course we wouldn't have gone any further with a replacement level SS. I didn't want a replacement level SS, I wanted an average one. To be honest, he hit even worse than I expected. Or 1B.Even Money said Gamel was okay at 1B this year. I'm pretty sure from the start you claimed he would be below replacement,(I'll have to dig back and look for specific quotes when I have the time, I'm fairly certain they exist). Fact is, he wasn't below replacement. Add to that that there were no "average" SS available in the past offseason, and I guess it just illustrates why some of us got so fed up with the over the top negativity...where many were stating that replacement level would be an improvement...it wouldn't have been. And 0 legitimate alternatives were ever discussed apart from the mythical "average SS", whoever that might be. This next year, there are a few better FA options at SS. I hope the Brewers make every effort to pursue those options.

    He really wasn't. He was one of the worst hitting SS in baseball this year. Well below average. He was above replacement level on the season, which is better than you EVER gave him credit for. He didn't get on base much (but not many shortstops do), but he was above average at slugging. His offense was close to league average simply because the SS position is somewhat down from previous seasons. No one wants him back next season, but I don't think we would have gone any further this season with the mythical replacement level SS you were clamoring for going into the season.

    I think Marcum is capable of throwing a decent outing. It was either him or Narveson, and I guess I'm not so sure I want the Brewers season resting on our #5 pitcher. Marcum has the stuff, we just need him to bring it for 1 game.

    I'm out...I'm not going to say game over, a comeback wouldn't be impossible. I'll just have to be pleasantly surprised when I open the Sports section tomorrow. There are better ways to spend an evening than watch the Brewers defense play so pathetically.

    Now wishing I hadn't spent all day waiting for this...Milwaukee's defense has choked this game away. This deficit is on you, Weeks, Hart, Hairston.

    You are defending Hart's defense. I bet 3/4s of RFs get that. Hart didn't have to move much. He just didn't execute. He did a horrible job of getting into position to make the play. I hope the Brewers consider moving Gamel to RF and Hart to 1b next season. Because I don't know how much longer Hart is going to cut it out there.

    Hart was playing back...he didn't have to go back too far to get it. Watch the replay...he most certainly should have had it. Hart is absolutely horrible at tracking the ball while going back, and this game wasn't the first time it has cost us in this series.

    It´s hard to understand how Hart can be this bad. I mean, yes, I understand he´s never been much of a fielder. But the guy had nearly 30 HR in a season where he spent a month on the DL. Where is the bat? Why does he have to suck at the worst possible time. /rant

    Not a chance. Greinke has a career ERA in the mid 2s at Busch, and the fact that he is undefeated at home has a lot to do with luck. Win tonight and you only have to win one of two at the Keg to go to the World Series.

    In the history of baseball the team with homefield advantage in a tied series wins about 55% of the time. Also, be honest, who would you rather have pitching for your team in game 5. Greinke or Garcia. I pick Greinke. Finally, Greinke's career ERA at Busch is in the mid 2s. Lots of reasons to believe the Brewers could be heading back to Milwaukee looking to pick up one final win to go to the World Series.
