  1. Doug Melvin, whom I tend to trust in such evaluations, although Doug has not been perfect (see: Brady Clark, possibly Turnbow). But that's the kind of thing small market teams need to do, sign players to extensions when possible, sometimes it works out sometimes not. Hall looks like he's about to go on a tear. He's always been a bit streaky. I tend to think he'll look much better at the All-Star break. I'd rather have Crawford than Hall. And I would give up Hall and Bush for Crawford if Villanueva continues to shine and Gallardo looks ready. No way would I trade Villanueva though
  2. The Tigers would only trade Verlander for a ridiculous package that no sane GM could turn down. Something like Fielder + Sheets + Weeks
  3. One can only imagine the line-up for this game. Maybe Estrada will be our lead-off hitter with Graffy batting clean-up. Maybe Suppan will be our DH.
  4. If the Brewers finish 3rd or worse, he's gone. If the Brewers go into a tailspin that resembles the 2nd half of '04 or even '06, he's gone. Mark A is many things but he ain't stupid
  5. I do think Yost is on thin ice. These lineups are borderline insane. I don't think he'll be fired until the end of the season though, and either Robin Yount or Cecil Cooper will be hired to replace him
  6. He lucked out with that lineup too
  7. Pathetic. I know Verlander is a great pitcher, but that's just sad. Yosted again
  8. Nothing like Counsell and Graffy to head up a lineup that gets no-hit
  9. I think Ned might be the one who needs a game or two off. This lineup is his most ridiculous yet!
  10. I'd love to have Kenny Lofton on the Brewers after the deadline if Hall doesn't vastly improve. CJ Wilson would be a big plus for our bullpen.
  11. Ryan Braun has amazed me with how he has just stepped right into MLB able to rake. The kid looks like he has astronomical potential.
  12. I like everything about Braun: his talent, his attitude, his confidence. The kid is one of my new favorite players. There has been nothing about his actions that I have found distasteful, although occasionally I wince in empathy for the hurt he puts on baseballs.
  13. Obermueller will either throw a 2 hit complete game or get rocked for 6-7 runs early. I hope Hart starts again.
  14. right now the Outfield (minus Jenkins who is hitting well and fielding like a Gold Glover) is our biggest weakness. I'm a big Tony Gwynn fan and even I think Gwynn should be sitting for awhile and Gross and Hart should get more time. If Hall continues to have problems and if Gross or Hart don't emerge as legit starters, the Crew will really need to trade for a legit MLB starting outfielder
  15. Imagine getting your 1st big league start against Greg Maddux. Wow
  16. He's got a .622 OPS this year in over 180 at bats which is no longer such a small sample. I'd be concerned about trading much for a 33 year old who is hitting like that despite his truely great past
  17. I'd prefer to see Gallardo, or have everyone move their day up, i.e. have Capuano pitch on Tuesday. Villanueva isn't stretched out enough and I'd rather not see Dessens in the 5th
  18. And Bill Hall doesn't have anywhere near the range or experience that Gwynn has in center. It is downright silly to have Hall in CF and Gwynn in RF
  19. by the way, how lame was the camera work during last inning's "incident"? Like we need to see a long shot of the bullpen jogging in as opposed to seeing what's going on between Fielder and Duncan
  20. I predict Fielder will either get hit by a pitch and start a brawl or will hit a HR in his next at-bat
  21. I love Prince Fielder. That kid is all heart. I'm thrilled he's a Brewer.
  22. Good to see the Umps get that right. I didn't expect them to reverse that
  23. yeah I don't get stretching out Villanueva here at all. We'll see how many innings he pitches
  24. Oh yes, Blue was intentional. I'm a Gwynn fan
