  1. so we're supposed to answer you without using the obvious reason? ok i'll take branyan with bases loaded and 1 out anyday over 1 on and 2 outs, regardless of inning.
  2. i really would have like to have seen yost be more aggresive earlier on and gone for the big inning with branyan. instead he seems to just be hoping we're close near the end. that decision changed the complexion and the tone of this whole game. batting magruder is what you call playing not to lose.
  3. oh man, this inning is like messing yourself in a room full of dinner guests
  4. yes, and because of that, we're tied rather than giving ourselves a chance to break the game open.
  5. i don't agree with this theory to save your best pinch-hitters until the 8th and 9th innings. how about when you have the best opportunities to score? there's no guaruntee we'll get another bases loaded, 1 out chance in the later innings. break the game open when you have a chance (and a certain righty matchup for branyan) rather than saving everybody who can actually hit until it's too late.
  6. my goodness look at that 'fro.
  7. whew. that was close. nice catch brady
  8. 12 in a row!! i think now might be a great time to start checking the phillies board!! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  9. i had forgotten how dominating geoff jenkins can be. great series.
  10. wow. these last 2 comebacks coming after game 1 have been impressive
  11. i hereby take back anything i've ever said about jenkins being a choke artist. donnelly stinks though
  12. 19 scoreless innings and counting!!! a shutout today, and we will match jenkins 0-28. you can do it guys!! there's a soft-tossing lefty tonight. it's a perfect opportunity. just keep your focus on continuing to not work the count, swinging at balls low in the zone, making baserunning errors, not being able to bunt properly, having the catcher bat second, and making sure magruder gets a chance to bat in a key situation. just do all those things, and the shutouts will continue to take care of themselves!!
  13. why did hall get pulled? i missed it. was it errors?
  14. i don't like this idea. ned's gotten himself in trouble before trying to stretch out a starter's innings with a lead (and this is not a comfortable lead considering the opponent)
  15. yep. and it looks even weirder than you'd imagine, because when i saw him, he had no tan on his head, so it was much whiter than everything else
  16. nope. he's completely clean. he even shaved his head
  17. agreed. if the same situation had come up 3 weeks ago, i would have said leave magruder in. but jenkins is white hot. i wouldn't have even given him the day off though either.
  18. if you think that aces are supposed to never give up any runs to #1 offenses in order to be true "playoff calibur aces", i think you're expectations are a little off
  19. yes. 3 weeks ago he was hitting like crap. now he is hot. what exactly is it that's confusing you?
  20. are you aware that we were facing the cardinals? trust me, i'm not one to make excuses for this team. sheets was pitching great. 7 k's, no walks. only 78 pitches, but he had to be pulled early beacause this team can't score runs
  21. you must be joking. one homerun was an eye-high fastball that a guy with no major league homeruns miraculously got on top of. the other was pujols. other than that, he pitched great. get real.
  22. was yost not aware that a. jenkins was raking against ray king? b. jenkins is white hot? c. magruder looks like he's swinging opposite handed from the left side??? i'm normally somewhat of a yost apologist, but that was pathetic. leave your hottest hitter on the bench because you're so terrified of a lefty-lefty matchup. just sad, scared managing
  23. people can throw as many numbers around as they want that claim clutch hitting doesn't matter. what we are witnessing right in front of us is, in fact, a loss due to inability to get a hit with risp
