  1. I'm going to a game in St Louis with two good friends of mine who root for the Cardinals - we'll be at the August 1 game. I showed the video to both of them, and they think it's hilarious. St Louis has a great baseball tradition, which is well-earned, my guess is a lot of them, subconsciously, don't want to see change, because it is change. The whole "unwritten rules" ideology is on its way out, whether they like it or not, I suspect they see meaningless, but different, things like this video as some sort of threat. They're among the best, the old way, so they want to keep the old way. It's not a threat. Relax, St Louis, you're still a great fanbase, with a great franchise, even if the game is going through some changes. When "Saturday Night Live" was new, the establishment absolutely hated it...now they embrace it. St Louis, is absolutely part of the establishment in MLB...I'd bet they join in the fun somewhere down the road.
  2. Tweet I got when I asked about Yamamoto... Brewers Player Dev ‏@BrewersPD 50m @bballintheblood we don't announce anything until players pass a physical. I think we're still talking with him
  3. BraunyBoy, this was posted a few posts back, but check it out....the team is currently under slot for the first ten rounds. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisMLB 7m ... @Brewers saved on picks in rds 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 for a total of $946,900. So still under bonus pool for top 10 rds.
  4. Here you go, TooLive... Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisMLB 7m ... @Brewers saved on picks in rds 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 for a total of $946,900. So still under bonus pool for top 10 rds. Jim Callis ‏@jimcallisMLB 9m Pick value at 12 for @Brewers was $2,805,700. Top 3 picks cost them $6.13 million, pick value was $5,290,900. Diff of $839,100
  5. Tweet from Jonathan Mayo... 1st rder of @Brewers has signed. @kodi_medeiros gets $2.5 mil plus 240k for school.
  6. Gatewood and Harrison will be taking BP with the Crew today at MP. Harrison has joined Twitter - @Team_Harrison3. Medeiros is also at MP, he has agreed to terms.
  7. Tyler signed his contract today, he's ready to roll.
  8. Chad Reeves has signed - Round 33
  9. Law is right on Harrison's floor, almost any HS kid could not make it out of A ball, but he's wrong on Harrison's ceiling. Harrison has a chance to play at an All-Star level in the major leagues. Monte is a project, because he never focused solely on baseball, but he's also a stud because he never focused solely on baseball. He's my favorite Brewers draft pick in years, even if he doesn't make it, I love the selection.
  10. Cre Finrock, Round 26, will not sign.
  11. The Brewers say earlier reports from Hawaii that Medeiros had signed are not accurate. I don't sense any trouble, but if the team says they're still working it out, then they are...I took Medeiros back out of bold font in the signings thread.
  12. Radio interview with Eric White....
  13. Reports started to come out saying Medeiros had agreed to terms, with a specific dollar amount attached to them, the same people who told me that, then said the team had asked them to hold off and allow the team to make the official announcement. I believe it, and I expect the announcement soon. One thing to keep in mind...Medeiros is from Hawaii, he bounced around to some workouts, then went to NY for the draft, so I'm sure he's a little frazzled, and he probably wants to get his family together for this huge event in his life. It may be taking an extra day or two just to sort out the logistics.
  14. Eric White is positively thrilled at having been drafted, but he tells me he hasn't made a decision yet.
  15. It sounds like Yamamoto has agreed to terms, but I haven't confirmed it yet.
  16. I showed Troy Stokes this forum, specifically this page...I think he's looking in tonight.
  17. A nice write-up on "The Man." One correction to this article, for those who want to know - his father, Matt, had a stroke in early '09, recovered, and was in a serious car accident just before Thanksgiving in that same year. After six major surgeries, and months of "touch and go", Matt was finally discharged from the hospital, and sent to a rehabilitation center, for physical therapy - he was on schedule to go home April 9th. While at the rehab center, Matt contracted a bacterial infection, which his weakened body could not defeat - the infection attacked his heart, killing Matt in March of 2010. He was a great friend of mine, who had helped me out when I was down in 2002, so naturally, when I realized Tyler might have a shot at pro ball, I stepped in and helped every way I could. I'm networked throughout the baseball industry, though I've never worked in the game - I did that via social media. I reached out to scouts, writers, coaches, retired players, and ultimately an agent as Tyler's college career was nearing its end. This is Tyler's story - he did it - and it didn't come easy. I'm just happy to be in the supporting cast, and I'd love to be talking to his dad about all of this right now. http://newyork.mets.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20140607&content_id=78747444&notebook_id=78747474&vkey=notebook_nym&c_id=nym&tcid=tw_article_78747444
  18. Jacob Gatewood has agreed to terms with Milwaukee - 1.83M, per Adam McCalvy
  19. The Brewers have agreed to terms with Monte Harrison...1.8M, per Jim Callis.
  20. In two days, Tyler goes to Florida for his physical, then he'll pitch for the Mets' club in Brooklyn. His agent lives right next to the field in FL where the Mets will bring him, and his family lives on Long Island, so they'll all be able to watch him this summer. There are many happy Badamos right now!
  21. The Mets have followed Tyler the longest, starting his senior year in HS. The teams that had taken him the most seriously were the Mets, Yankees, Reds and Phillies, with a second group of Seattle, Toronto, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and the two LA teams...the Mets nearly took him a year ago. I haven't talked to Tyler yet, but his mother is losing her mind.
  22. Cleveland just took a pitcher from UW-Stevens Point.
  23. Tyler wasn't picked today, which was always the most likely scenario. There are many teams interested in him, everyone involved is convinced he'll be picked tomorrow, but beyond that, this could be round 11, or round 40. I'll say more after the draft.
  24. I talked to him a little bit ago, as you can imagine, he's pretty antsy right now. The kid who beat him for the Brett Tomko Award, (best D-II pitcher), went in round 5 to Seattle, trust me, he saw that!
  25. Bombers, I wish I had tried to rank the top 20 or 30 guys, to really illustrate how fluid all of this is...names in, names out, all season long. Gatewood fell because teams think his swing is too long, they all love his power, but they aren't sure if he'll make enough contact to truly realize his potential. Burdi fell because teams decided he's a reliever, not a starter, and the other three stayed up near the top of draft boards, until Beede fell some in recent weeks. Rodon at 3, Jackson at 6, Beede at 14, Gatewood 41 and Burdi 46. This stuff is fun to watch.
