Ashby for the two inning save. I am sure this will be a low stress experience for all.

Yelich had two months of decent production before he became a shell of himself. Over the past 6-7 weeks he has had very few competitive ABs. Even by Seigler standards, he should not be playing.

I can think of two reasons, actually. But I really hope it's the reason you're referring to. Not that I want Ortiz to be hurt or anything.

I am confused: why not hit Ortiz for Hamilton here? You're going to be happy to have Ortiz's glove in there for the last three innings. Makes no sense to me.

I have been waiting for the day when someone introduces a metric to gauge the run or win differential involved in filling out a lineup card. I suspect I will be waiting for a while longer.

Safe to assume Shewmake/Shoemaker will be the casualty when Hamilton is done with his rehab? I can't see them carrying two spare IF guys, and neither Hamilton nor Shew have any real OF experience that I'm aware of.

I think it's more complicated than he forgot or his zone judgment isn't good. By the looks of his chase tendencies, his knowledge of the zone probably isn't as good as many good hitters. But for the batter everything happens so fast, you're tunnelling in on the ball as it leaves the pitcher's hand trying to pick up spin and all that stuff. When you misidentify a pitch or get fooled, as Chourio clearly did, it throws everything off--including your ability to judge where the pitch landed. The pitch bamboozled him, ended up doing something completely different from what he was expecting it to do, so why shouldn't he assume the ump got the call right? The whole thing was awful to watch, made Chourio look like an idiot, but I think that's more a reflection of a failure in pitch recognition and its downstream ripple effects.

In this day and age, it seems like every professional pitcher is one mishap removed from breaking. With fans, meanwhile, the less control we have over something, the more anxious we feel about it. It's like watching Giannis shoot free throws in game 6 of the finals. I've come to the conclusion that there is no point sweating the injury and bad breaks stuff. Enjoy the amazing performance runs when they come, find something else to do when things go south.

I think he was referring to their cautious approach and not alluding to some underlying, undisclosed injury worry. Miz wasn't on time with his delivery last night, maybe still dealing with the aftereffects of whatever caused him to miss his last scheduled start, and if he keeps pushing through when he's not quite right, he starts favoring and trying to compensate--that's when injuries become more likely. Like Bill Walton trying to play on a stress fracture in his foot and creating all sorts of new problems for himself as a result.

I guess there really isn't room for Vaughn if Chourio or Yelich are not sitting and you're committed to Mitchell because of platoon advantage and Lara because he's Lara. Seeing Jones is still a shock to the system. But I suppose they are unlikely to face a LHP starter before the ASB so if Turang needs a break it might as well be now.
