  1. Should the Brewers move one of their infield prospects to the 40 man roster? Does Hamilton’s recent injury illustrate the need for this? Seems they’re a little exposed right now if there is a more serious injury.
  2. I don’t think you can trade Peña anymore this year because teams will want to be absolutely certain about his health. You’d be selling low, I believe. I’m not too unhappy about that because I believe his upside may be even better than people think. Same problem with Williams… You’d probably be selling low right now given his performance recently. I think now is the time to make a decision on Lara. If the Brewers don’t think that profile will really work for them or if they feel they already have the same player with Sal in right field, then sell high on him right now. I am a fan and would hate to see that move, but it would make some sense.
  3. He JUST KEEPS GETTING MORE EXPENSIVE!
  4. They have the best record in all of baseball against teams over .500. Not sure what more they need to do.
  5. Very different teams...they don't get it done the same way. That's not my point. I'm referring to the overall demeanor and how the previous year affected both teams and expectations. Most here don't remember it, but in '82 a deep playoff run just seemed inevitable. It was really a little bit weird. No one questioned it. That, I think, is the reason Buck Rogers was given a shorter leash than he might have been. They were going...period. Same thing this year...whether they get there or not only time will tell, but it just has the same feeling and it looks to me that's how the club sees it. They're a mature, seasoned team, despite their relative youth.
  6. I’d love to know if others are seeing this, but it just seems like this team has an air of unfinished business. The demeanor of the team seems a little bit more hard-core and business like this year. You don’t see the fun celebrations with the weird hats and necklaces after Home runs… It’s just let’s get back to business. as an older fan, I see some parallels between the 25/26 Brewers and the 81/82 Brewers. Situation was different and the playoff structure was different, but the 81 Brewers lost to the Yankees in the playoffs and learned a great deal. Most importantly, they learned that they were an elite team and belonged. The following year it was as if they expected to be there and just needed to go out and get the job done. Kind of the same feeling this year. They are no longer grateful to be in the playoffs… They expect to win the division, expect to be in the NLCS…anything less than a World Series appearance I think will be a disappointment to this team and this organization. That is a huge step forward.
  7. I'm not on the Jett bandwagon...not for this year anyway. I think you could bring him up, but he'd be "a guy". You bring up Fisher for a cup of coffee and if he's difference maker, he stays, otherwise he goes to Nashville. That's a lot of pressure to put on a guy who just came up from high A, but he seemed to handle it well during the WBC. You probably don't even look at this option until early Aug, and see where he is. The point might be moot. The platoon the Brewers have right now at third looks like it might be pretty productive. It won't give you any power, but effective nevertheless. Darn good defensively, too.
  8. You have to feel bad for the guy. I hated to see him leave, but that was his dream job. I think most Brewer fans understood that and wished him well. It’s definitely not working out and Milwaukee‘s recent success isn’t making things look any better. Having said that… Much of what we have today was done under his leadership.
  9. Ya...I get it. Maybe we need a pitcher just as an insurance policy. Odds are one of our 3 aces is going to get hurt to some degree. That's just the nature of things. Having said that....we really need a bat at 3rd. ;) Not to win the division, but to win it all. Some of this depends on Yely. If he's hitting, this is a pretty good offensive lineup as-is. His inconsistency makes decisions difficult. This may sound a little nuts, but if Fisher keeps raking in AA, would it make any sense to bring him right up for at least a cup of coffee. I say that only because he saw higher level pitching this last spring and did ok.
  10. I wonder if we won't see some high school players electing to play in Japan or Korea for a couple of years? I'm assuming they have some sort of developmental or minor league system. Of course I'm sure the teams over there don't want to devote resources to players only to see them move back to the US after 2 or 3 years. And...a lot would depend on the kid and maturity level.
  11. That's the first I'd heard about any surgery. That's rotten news, especially given that he was playing the best ball of his MLB career. Hope that end of July is accurate! I'd assume mid Aug after a rehab stint.
  12. Things have been pretty quiet regarding Frank Cairone. Any updates? I don't see any stats, so I'm assuming he's not in game shape yet. Any idea how he's looking?
  13. Halfway through the season; hitting .313. Two for Four in game one last night with a double. Game two was suspended after 3 innings and he was 1 for 1 with a triple.... just say'in :) Oh by the way... 33 SB (8 caught); OBP .429. Lets keep sleeping on this guy!
  14. Wagoner should be on there. I think he'll be in Nashville shortly. Also Dubanewicz and Ibarguen.
