Hope this move for Jansen can get Contreras a chance to heel his wrist and the other ailments catching causes. Giving him a long weekend off wouldn't be a terrible idea,or a week of DH-ing.Will need his bat come September/October. We all have seen the major drop off stats in offensive production from catchers after the all star break with Cal Raleigh's daily critique from media outlets how Judge will runaway with the AL mvp in the 2nd half

Priester is 8-0 since his last start in May, and the Brewers are 10-0 in his 10 starts since then(54/11 k/bb in that stretch),so should b a great match up! But then again Peralta/Priester/Woodruff/Miz have a combined 21-2 record since last week in May(201-47 k/bb in that stretch), complete dominance!! Team is 27-5 in these 4 starters appearances since last week in May.

Momentum is huge, your 100% right! Any worries of Misiorowski throwing 18pitches(1inn.) in all star game july 15th, 64 pitches(3.2inn.) on July 22nd for a total of 72 live pitches since july 8th going into tonight? Or am I so used to being disappointed that I'm looking for excuses? Because Miz rebounded after Mets loss, and then again after a leadoff homer to Ohtani to dominate. His mental game has been straight money so far imo.

I would love to see a move for Abrams, but it's a pipe dream for a couple of reasons. The Brewers organization have consistently made tier3/tier4 type of player moves at the deadline for the last 6 years or so that they were contenders at the break. Trading multiple high end prospects is a major gamble for a small market team like Milwaukee. They have to maintain a low payroll and the only way to do that and stay competitive is promoting quality prospects to the big league squad and the team controlled contracts Also the Brewers and P.Murphy tend to create a team that gels on and off the field. Abrams was sent down to the minors in august of 2024 for lack of hustle/commitment, the final straw was after an all nighter at a casino gambling, ending 5.hrs before 1st pitch of a day game. I know he is young, and most likely learned from his mistake. Also the Nats have high end prospect Seaver King(ss) excepted to reach the majors the same time as c.Pratt. so maybe Quero/Myers/Meccage type of trade.

Game 17: Bears @ Packers - Sunday, Jan. 5th 12:00 PM
B.F.-rakes replied to duewizard's topic in Other Sports
I agree,I have a problem with the 3rd down call of the packers running it right into the line.Other then that,MLF made the right call, Fg was good, we took the lead with 54sec, and bears only had 1 timeout. kickoff places them inside there own 20,then, a fluke horse collar, next play is a perfectly placed pass to Odunze for roughly 15 with him toe tapping, and then we miss about 3sacks on Williams if u include the horse collar play, and the oh so close grounding penalty, or should have been a sack. Then a bad timeout to set up there final play b4 kick imo, Brars have choked all year in high pressure situations, don't let them set up a play, and give them a breather imo,oh well! IM a die hard packers fan, but this team doesn't have that bond, and togetherness a team needs. Seems like a split locker room possibly, no leader -
Williams is an elite closer who missed roughly 100games due to stress fractures in his back and returned in last week of july and had era of 1.25,saved 14 of 15 games to end the year in a bullpen that struggled around him when he returned, they were lights out prior to his return, but fatigue/injuries,and most seeing career high in innings pitched just fell off.Williams has a career era of 1.81,almost 4/1 k/bb ratio and still is only 30,not old for a closer.Plenty of teams will pay for an elite closer, and price will go up if u can gamble, and unload him at trade deadline.Hader,Williams,Clase,Iglesias,Hensley types r rare imo.Williams just had a horrible ending to 2024,as we all know,it happens, and sucks to live with all offseason. And half the league would love a closer, because as we know, especially u gamblers,at least 50% of all games r a 1-2 run difference in the 9th and also not a coincidence that Brewers have the majority of there playoff appearances over last 6-7 years in club history with the help of Hader&Williams,,
-
U can't blame Williams for the bullpen era rise in 2nd half of season,Williams came back in last week of july, had a 1.25 era,was 14/15 in saves.Megill&Hudson combined for 96 innings prior to Williams return, and only 24 combined innings after his return because of fatigue/injuries.Means gave up 13runs in 19innngs,Koenig 12runs in 23 innings, b.Wilson 15runs in 29inning,Milner 14runs in 27innings after Williams return(last week of july-end of September). I'm definitely for getting a nice return in trading Williams, but Devin is an elite closer, and I don't think that's debatable.Really sucked the Brewers season ended on William's rough outing, but closers blow saves, just horrible timing.

I agree,we will still have a plethora of speed, and a coach that will utilize that. Turang, Chourio, Mitchell, Black, Frelick ,Ortiz & Yelich we have for the long haul. Contreras and in 2 years tops Quero.so really only need to add right handed hitting 1st baseman down the road and maybe a shortstop when we lose Adames&Hoskins. And that's if Adams(1b), brown jr(ss), Wilken possibly at 1st don't pan out,but then we have a **** load of top tier prospects coming in '26 in Pratt(ss,3b,2b,1b),Boeve(3b,1b)& Bitonti (ss,2b) all with power. A ton of speed and contact guys who play in the middle infield and outfield coming in 2026-2029.So imo that window doesn't shut for a while, unless u trade a bunch of it for short term rentals at the deadline which is a horrible gamble for any small market organization. We r officially the Tampa Bay rays national league team who has made the playoffs 5of6 years and r getting stronger. I honestly would prefer to sell a Megill or Koenig as they r at there peak value and going to b 31 at start of 2025 season. Even Rea who is 34 and again, at his peak value, obviously if we could get a nice return. Have d.Williams,Uribe, Hudson, Paredes, Peguero, Meyers, Hall, and Miley, Gasser, Woodruff in 2025

Brewers (Rea) vs Rockies (Hudson): 7/3/24, 7:40pm
B.F.-rakes replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
Wasn't a plan, but good to get Capra some play at short, he looked good. The Brewers minor league system/coaches deserves a ton of credit, because the majority of call ups in 2024 have been guys ready to go and obviously very prepared and poised. It's also crazy that I expected the crew to add on runs in the spots that they didn't, last night, a feeling I never had in previous 5 years with the lack of offense w/ risp under counsell and the poor contact hitters we had then. This team is fun to watch on both sides -

I was 9 in 1982 and my dad got transferred to South Florida, so we moved down there in august of 82 from Brookfield, wi.In 85 or 86 my parents let me and my brother(15mo. Younger then me) come stay with my uncle&aunt for the summer in west allis. We lived at county stadium and didn't miss a game, autographs b4 and after every home game, batting practice, exploring area's of county stadium that we snuck into. and my Uncle wasn't strict at all,so we were in heaven. We came up every summer till we moved back in 1992..Caught alot of Molitor's hitting streak in 87,,was at filming of Major League movie, Cal Ripken cursing out my brother for him accidentally spilling soda on him as he got into a cab as we swarmed for his autograph. Wade Boggs walking to cab with his mistress, which at the time was big news nationally. Was at Nolan Ryan's 300th win. Was a blast and when Brewers were competing for division the crowds were loud and rowdy, especially the bleachers. Sorry for post, u got me reminiscing

Brewers (Rea) vs Rockies (Hudson): 7/3/24, 7:40pm
B.F.-rakes replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Archived Game Threads
I 100% agree,he's locked in and has 1 strikeout in last 34ab. Unless he requested it,doesn't make sense Unfortunately the depth in the outfield could cause issues with the development of Mitchell, Frelick, Chourio, Perkins and Black. I personally would like to see Black take over Bauers spot and have a bench guy to pinch run, bat in a sacrifice spot, etc. They used him in 9th Saturday against loss to cubs, but he sat for 6 days without an at bat,or appearance. If he struggles then send him down, but 1 at bat a week is counter productive imo, but I know the Brewers staff is alot smarter then me, or are they showcasing Frelick or someone else for trade bait? -
That makes sense now, sorry! People that give Attanasio grief have no idea how good they have it.Obviously the wildcard has helped with the Brewers playoff appearances,,but all we had for a long time was the 1982 squad to celebrate, and they "lost",That team was obviously special ,but all I want b4 I die is a world series champion, and with no salary cap in mlb,the owner we have now is a godsend compared to past ownership imo and has rebuilt the entire organization with great hires all over the place and gives us at least a fighting chance. But thank u for the Eldred post, brought back alot of memories
-
Was such a promising year with the unbelievable starting pitching, but was sad because it was last year of Molitor in Milwaukee, Gantner retired. So many years of Yount,Molitor &Gumby
-
What was horrible?I see that u have Bando in parenthesis
-
Crazy that we don't play the Cubs after July 24th. Will play 19 games against current playoff teams and 28 more against teams within 5 games of wildcard spot in August/September

What do the Brewers need to win the World Series
B.F.-rakes replied to titletownking's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
U are being the most realistic, Dodgers have Betts, Ohtani, Freeman, Smith, T.Hernandez and whoever they pick up at deadline. Plus Yamamoto, Glasnow. Phillies line up isn't any easier in Schwarber, Turner, Harper, Bohm, Realmuto, Stott, Castellanos and 4 really good starting pitchers.Obviously anything can happen in best of 5 or 7, but will need to win in innings 1-5, 1-6. Peralta is coming off of his career high in 23' in innings pitched, and if he stays healthy should b right around it come playoff time.Rea is 37 innings from his career high, which was also in 2023. So after all that I wrote, i 100% agree with u,lol! -
I will say 11-13. 6-6 at home, 5-7 on the road , but I haven't been close on Brewers predictions all year , they just keep winning and proving me wrong and I hope they continue to!!
-
Totally agree,we hit the halfway mark of the season with game 81 tomorrow afternoon..We just need him to eat up some innings.i honestly can't believe the duct tape is still working tbh
-
We obviously went into season without Burnes(trade),Woodruff(shoulder surgery),Miley(elbow surgery), for 2024.Havent had Williams,Mitchell for first 3months.Junis,D l..Hall,Ross,Uribe for the majority of the year.So 4/5 of rotation, set up man,and a world class closer of 2024 projections.Yelich has missed 25games,Hoskins 23,and oh yea,we have a 1st year coach because the all time winning coach in franchise history back doored us and went to r most hated rival without warning. So what does Pat Murphy do,he brings in Hudson(4-0)(0.86era),Paredes(1-0)(1.23era),calls up Koenig(6-1)(1.77era),Gasser(2-0)(2.57era)&Meyers(5-2)(3.12era).Thats a combined(18-3),172 innings,171k combined for 4/5guys that didn't throw a pitch in majors in 2023.only Hudson pitched in 2023,only 8.2innings for Oakland. Megill is 16/17 in saves, with a 1.85era(28.1innings).b.Wilson is 4-3 and has thrown 67.2innings Peguero is 5-2 with a 2.90era,Payamps 3.86era with the 2 combining for 17holds,5saves and 59innings(51k's).On top of all this Murphy&Co has to make sure there developing the 20yr old Chourio,23yr old Black, the two 24yr Old's in Turang&Frelick and the suprising offense of breakout in 25yr old Ortiz.Murphy& staff has team leading all of mlb in steals,13 games over .500,,5game lead over 2nd place team, and best of all 9game lead over Cubs, as we r only 3games from the halfway point of the 2024 season. This is one of the best coaching jobs I have ever seen by an organization. So don't get to critical when they fall apart because these pitchers that have been outstanding have very little experience pitching as many innings as they already have pitched.Need 2/3 of Ross,Junis or Hall to stay healthy and log some innings after all star break
-
We r all looking forward to Mitchell's return and once again the "outfield log jam issue" has worked its self out for the last 2years as Mitchell can't stay healthy(4months missed in 23)(3months so far in 24).Chourio has twice as many ab then Mitchell, and Mitchell was called up in august 2022,and with Mitchell's health, and Frelicks unproven bat, there trade value isn't that great imo, might want to move Megill,as every contender is looking for bullpen help,or Rea as there value is at it's max.As great as the crew is playing, can we really beat the Dodgers,Phillies powerhouse line ups?
