  1. It's really not a matter of "locking him up". Rosenthal stated that it's either 4 or 5 year. As has been mentioned, only the 5th year is a FA year, they already have him "locked up" for 4 years. This sounds like more of a bet that Lucroy would cost them more in the arbitration process than they would have to pay him through a LT deal.
  2. It's not like the first time they have done this. I actually like the thought of wathcing baseball at the breakfast table before I go to work.
  3. I was actually thinking about this same type of scenario a while ago. Not so much the angle of the parent/son situation, but just possibly Braun coming across as arrogent to the tester and that ticking the tester off. There was some story posted on here from some sports writer mentioning about how Braun complained about having to do a drug test right after or before a playoff game (whenever it was). If this was noticable enough for a writer to take notes on, perhaps he also made some "rude" comments to the tester/escort. edit: Thinking about this a little more. Perhaps there were witnesses that heard the escort say things as he left the clubhouse like "What a 'donkey'" or other rants about Braun.
  4. I hate it when I go to a sporting event (or any spectator event) and I get to my seat 30-60 minutes before the event is going to start and then there is a person 1 or two rows in front of me that also has arrived at the event early and decides that he/she is going to just stand there until the event starts. I realize nothing is going on yet (althought sometimes there is something like batting practice, etc), but I really don't want to sit there and stare at this persons backside for 30 minutes. What is the deal? You have a seat, take it! This is just one example out of many I see on a daily basis of people just being completely oblivious to anyone around them.
  5. Whatever they do, I hope they stay in AZ for a number of reasons. 1) How relatively close all the parks are in AZ (especially now that there are no teams in Tucson) and how easy it is to get to any one of them. My understanding is that this is not the case in FL. 2) Watching Philly, Yankee, and Red Sox preseason games on TV, I don't think I want any part of that. I think it was a Yankee game I was watching where the outfield just looked like a quilt with people sitting on top of one another. One of the things I like about the ST games in AZ is how usually you have plenty of room to spread out on the OF berms. 3) Average rainfall in Phoenix in March: 1.13 inches. In Orlando (just picked a central FL city): 3.77 Also, could not find it anywhere, but I'm guessing, on average, there are more sunny days in March in AZ than in FL Other than that, I have just always enjoyed our AZ spring training trips and I have gotten use to the layout down there. I like going out to eat in places like Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler and I also like the Mountains as a backdrop.
  6. I was really confused when I read this. It states A)Lohse will serve as the Card's opening day starter and B) Westbrook will start against the Brewers on April 6. So, I'm thinking, ok, who is it? Lohse or Westbrook? Then I looked at the Cards schedule. I had no I idea they were playing one game in Miami before coming to Milwaukee. Very odd. I know the Marlins have a new park and everything, but I don't ever recall a special "one game series" to open a new ball park. Also, why would they not start Wainwright for their first game? With Carpenter out, isn't he their best pitcher?
  7. Oh yes, blue screens of death still happen. I was getting them all the time on my 2 year old lap top. I got so frustrated that I backed up everything and just rebuilt my laptop from scratch. However, I ran into problems rebuilding it and realized (with the help of our IT guy that we use at work), that if I removed one of the two 2MB memory cards from my laptop that my rebuild would work and my computer would run smoothly. I have since replaced both 2MB cards with 4MB cards and my laptop is humming along with no problems now. So, I think I could have skipped the rebuild and just replaced the memory and that would have probably solved my blue screen problem. Not sure how much memory you have or if you have two slots for memory, but if so, I would open up the compartment for your memory (usually just involved removing a cover on the bottom of your laptop), and taking out one of the memory cards (start with the top one - if, like me, you have two 2mb cards, you can remove one and the computer should still function fine, just perhaps a little slower.). If that does not work, remove the other card and put the "top" one in it's place and see if that sovles it. If your laptop runs better without "blue screens" when one of the cards is removed, you know that there is an issue with the card that is removed and you just have to replace it. They are relatively cheap. Hope this helps.
  8. I have the Ball and Glove logo with 19 HOF. Got it when the plates first came out and I wish I would have tried for something different. Too many people don't get it. They think it has something to do with Trever Hoffman.
  9. "Lawyered up". When did that term originate? Is that from NYPD Blue or were people actually using that phrase before then?
  10. Ok, I've read this 3 or 4 times now and I don't get it. "And honestly, if some of the things came out, it would be a lot more negative than positive. There are reasons." Huh? This almost makes it sound like if we knew the entire truth it would make Braun sound more guilty than innocent....especially the "it would be a lot more negative than positive".
  11. As Bad as that is going to be, I have to say that the Zoo interchange is in despereate need of an overhaul. Anyone that drives through there on a daily basis (especially on I94 EB during morning rush hour) should understand. It basically goes from 3 lanes to 2 lanes and then back to 3 lanes. Bottlenecks and accidents are frequent there as cars speed down the "exit only" left lane and then attempt to cut in at the last minute.
  12. So we are leaving Phoenix today, after being down here for a week. Some observations, - Every year that we come down the crowds seem to get larger. The first time we ever came down here we felt like we were the only Brewer fans here. In fact we used to be picked to be "contestants" for different contests they would have at Maryvale because we were one of the few families they could find that we wearing Brewers attire. Not the case any more. - Sat in the first row on the first base line last Sunday (first game). My son got Yount's autograph. Other than Aoki, he was the only one to sign that day. Again, in years past it seemed that players were alto more autograph friendly. We also sat next to Jim Gantners brother that game. Pretty interesting. - Only two road games while we were down here. While usually most of the starters don't make the road trips, in the past we have found that they usually bring 3 or so and that they usually rotate those 3. However, for the games we saw it seemed to be the same starters (Morgan, Weeks, Gonzalez). I hope they don't shelter Braun from road games the entire spring. Eventually he has to face the music...seems like spring training would be the best place to start. - Izturus has been brutal defensively

  14. Canal? Do you mean Miller park way? No real way to connect to Canal from greenfield. I live in Waukesha and work downtown. As others have stated....yeah, it's going to be bad.
  15. I loved that when they played "I'm a believer" after every home win. I was always wishing that would become their permanent "winning song". Although I guess it would seemed kind of shallow to play "I'm a believer" after their wins in some years, like say their 56th win in late September of 2002.
  16. Umm...ok...two friends posing for a picture?? Yeah, that's sickning.
  17. Why? Did I miss something?
  18. Yes, however, MLB in it's response stated something along the line of "Our system is not fatally flawed" in response to Braun's comments. I just have a problem with this position by MLB that with the exception of some small clarifications that they have to make to handlers regarding where and when to drop off samples, that their system is not only not "fatally flawed, but that it's basically air-tight and perfect. If you believe Braun has been using for years, then that's clearly not the case.
  19. I would say with the vitoral that MLB uses to defend it's drug testing policy and with player's livelyhoods and reputations at stake that yes, it is fatally flawed, or at the very least seriously flawed. If the policy is designed in such a way that it makes it incredibily hard for a player to prove his innocence then basically it's saying that there is no way we could ever produce a false positive. If it's that perfect then the system should also never produce a false negative either. It should catch every player that is using. If not then there has to be more burden put on the tester to prove that that there is no way a positive result was done in error. A system, one that claims to be perfect (based on the burden of proof placed on the player), that only catches one out of 50, 100, 200, or whatever the number may be, is seriously, or perhaps even fataly flawed imho.
  20. On the way home from work last night I was thinking that there are two facts we know: A) Every player on every playoff team knows that they will be tested at some point during the playoffs and B) MLB is still strongly defending its drug testing program as being the best in all of sports and "vehemently" disagrees that it is fatally flawed. So, based on these two facts, if you believe Braun is guilty you have to also believe one of the following: A) Braun first started taking PEDs late in the 2011 season. However, it was a pretty sure bet that the Brewers were heading towards the playoffs and Braun should have known that he would get tested at some point before the end of October. So, if you believe this, you would also have to believe that Braun is incredibly stupid to pick that point and time to start using PEDs. or B) Braun has been using PEDs all along and just happened to get caught now. If you believe this, then you have to believe that the MLB testing policy is fatally flawed and you can't possibly believe that Braun is the only one using PEDs. In fact, you would have to believe that PEDs are still being widely used in the sport.
  21. According to WTMJ, reports are that the "handler" (Dino Laurenzi) is going to release a statement today.
  22. Another point on this which came up in the comments section of the blog I posted earlier. Do we really have confimration that synthetic T showed up in the second test? The only source I am aware of for that statement is the original anonymous leak. If it didn't, wouldn't they throw the whole thing out? Isn't the 2nd test (of the same urine sample) to confirm that there was not a false positive in the first test?
  23. You missed it. xisxisxis and pebadger covered this. I think pebadger has a post on it on page 37. Edit: Being a Brewer fan and a baseball fan, I want to find every reason to believe Braun is telling the truth. Right now, what I'm pinning my beliefs on is the fact that the T levels were 3 times any previous result, or the 20:1 ratio. Having said that, Pebadger, if I'm understanding your explaination about about how synthetic T could be detected in the Urine sample it seems to me that it would be very easy to poke holes in that argument. My understanding is that as a standard procedure after a positive test for PEDs, they tested the sample again and came up with the same results. So, MLB does thousands of tests a year, as far as we know they have never had a false positive before for sythetic T, yet now, what you are describing above happened twice on the same player? Please let me know if I'm not understanding something completely, but if I'm being completely objective, this seems a bit far fetched.
  24. Wow, is this true? I didn't know this. This makes Braun that much more believable.
  25. It would make sense that the handler would only be provided with one "seal" for each sample and that it would be impossible to "unseal" it without it being evident. However, I doubt the players initial the seal since, as Braun stated, the sample is supposed to be completely annonymous when it arrives at the lab.
