  1. Surprised Smoltz is still there. Thought he might leave early to beat traffic.
  2. I would have to believe the top seeds would be questioned by the media as to the reasoning of their pick. And I would assume that the answers would mostly be based on logic - like picking the team where the previous series took longer or the team that took longer to clinch the WC spot with the assumption that they had to use their best pitchers for those recent games. Having said that, I could see the Brewers avoiding the Cubs in an attempt to avoid their fans from snatching up a good portion of the tickets. Which could back fire in a big way if they then had to play them in a subsequent series.
  3. I use to feel this way also when this would be brought up in the past. Since the steroid era messed up many of the records anyways, I don't care as much. I always thought the idea of shortening the regular season was to avoid the late October / early November games. But sounds like all they are doing is creating more off days and expanding the playoffs. The whole proposal will actually make it more likely that there are games in November. Yeah....not sure I'm in favor of that. The idea of top seeds picking their opponent is intriguing.
  4. Frustrating that MLB has not published the start times yet at least for games one and two of each series. There is only one game on Sunday and they know were it will be. What's the hold up? They also know the location of both games on Monday. Should not take this long to get the times out.
  5. Hey Craig, maybe if your team played up to it's payroll expectation you would not have to worry about any of this. Also, so far no plan in Philly for those games. No double header today. Based on the forecast I don't see games being able to be played on Saturday or Sunday in Philly. Pittsburgh is on the road and there is no rain forecasted there. Why not move the games there (at least Saturday and Sunday's games)?
  6. Why are they not showing the Cubs Atlanta score in the upper left? We are also still battling Atlanta for a 1st round bye. Or, on the other side...could be cheering for Cubs to lose HF advantage in the WC series or, less likely, miss the playoffs all together. Edit: nevermind...that game has not started
  7. How is it Brewer announcers don't seem to know how Magic numbers work or games ahead work. Levering just said that Brewers have a two game lead on the Dodgers, but its really like 3 because they have the tie breaker. No. If the The Dodgers win the next 3 games and The Brewers lose the next 3 games, Dodgers have a one game lead, tie breaker or not. You can subtract a game from the Magic number, but you can't add one to the games ahead because of the tie breaker.
  8. ?? They are the Brewer announcers. They should know what the magic number is. The math really is not that difficult.
  9. Sorry if this has been discussed before. Magic number is 9, not 10, since the Brewers now own the tie breaker. No? If true, how are the broadcasters unaware of that?
  10. Unacceptable Contreras! Its Mid August and the Brewers still have no plan for how they use thier challenges.
  11. But also, that's all he said....he could have also explained why they retained it. Would have avoided a lot of confusion.
  12. Someone on the broadcast can't get a confirmation on the challenges left??
  13. Was just coming here to say how much I enjoyed Fitzpatrick in Peaky Blinders.
  14. I think the best part of last night's game was how Woody, and basically the whole team, just ignored Willson. They kept their focus and exacted their "revenge" by winning. Hoping to see similar behavior tonight if he tries to stir things up again. Although, hard to ignore if he's charging full steam at you.
  15. Maybe this is the "Go ahead and suspend that guy" lineup. Not Miz though!
  16. So MLB is ok with players threatening other players in post game interviews? Trying to think of another situation where a player has said something like this. Are the umpires going to issue a warning before the game starts? This is basically why warnings are issued in games, when they fear there will be "retaliation". Which would not be great for the Brewers. Miz lets one get away from him and he gets tossed.
  17. Should we be concerned that Turang is not in tonight's lineup?
  18. How was Willson Contreras allowed to stay in the game last night after that slide and how has MLB not suspended him yet for those comments after the game? Or is this just the world we live in now? He's just being a "man".
  19. So, for some reason they are going to wait until opening day to activate the channel. What could go wrong?
  20. So far, Spectrum 308 off to a great start! Today's game supposed to be on.
  21. With the cable channels yet to be announced, any word on if cable subscribers will have to pay more to have access to those channels. I already have a sports package added to my Spectrum subscription (which is a extra monthly fee). Wonder if it will be included within that?
  22. Ok. Thanks! Hopefully this is accurate. Any link you can provide where this is reported? The "help desk" at MLB that I spoke to seemed to have no clue. edit: Ok, they just mentioned it on today's broadcast...that cable options were coming.
