  1. I've really slowed down on it since I was able to get pretty much every Brewer possible through the mail, but yes, Sportscollector.net is a pretty good starting point. I was trying to get each players first Brewers card, and I still would like to aim for that, but I'm starting to think I should settle for any card, especially since modern cards have so many different set options and it's hard to pinpoint a players actual first card. A few quick takeaways from what I've experienced: - Start with the 70's teams. You never know when someone is going to pass away. - Miller Lite put out a card from every Brewers player from 1970 to 1994 (I believe), you should be able to find them on eBay. There's a good amount of players that only had a cup of coffee who will sign in the mail and these Miller Cards are the only cards they ever had. Layfayette Currence, John Poft, and Ray Peters comes to mind. -Collect at your own pace. It's easy to want to get every player possible as fast as possible, but I go in spurts. I started a new project and now that that one has slowed, I'll probably go back to this Brewers one and see what's still out there. You don't wanna burn out one what should be something you're doing for fun. -You can usually get away with sending a few cards to each player so that you can trade with others. -Spring training is the best way to get current players, and really, that sucks too. -If you're not worried about the cards condition, it won't matter, but invest in card savers to mail out. -You can see which guys charge for autos on sportscollectors.net, it's usually worth looking up autos on eBay, sometimes you can snag a cheaper one. -COMC.com is a great site to find cards, you can go through the inventory and only pay shipping once. It might cost a little bit more than you'd like to pay, but after my experience digging through boxes of commons at card shops, I'd rather just spend the extra then waste my time. -I'll gladly make a trade with you if we can help each other out. I have lots.
  2. The rear latch on my Prius hatchback has a rubber handle. It's basically completely melted off and it makes opening the trunk difficult at times. The place where I got it from gave me a replacement rubber piece, but I basically need an allen wrench style screwdriver to get in there and remove it. Very annoying on all accounts.
  3. I don't know how stingy various bars are to underagers, even with families so I'll try to keep it to those limitations as it differs from place to place. I know Leff's Lucky Town on 72nd and State allows families in there. I'm pretty sure they DO NOT have a shuttle (if that matters). Steny's does have a shuttle (if that matters), and also allows families in there, though I believe at a certain time they limit it to 21+. There is also 4th Base that was the dive bar that was used in the filming of Major League. I haven't eaten there, but it seems much more high scale than it's appearance: http://milwaukeerecord.com/food-drink/4th-base-west-milwaukee-bar-from-the-end-of-major-league/ I'd also second the Old German Beer Hall. The Brat House is right next door, but I like the vibe more in OGBH.
  4. Just to touch back on the high pants / brown shoes thing. I was at my high school reunion last fall and the biggest d-bag from high school was wearing that crap. I laughed so hard to myself, but wondered if he was now part of a yacht club (which also wouldn't surprise me).
  5. Anyone else somewhat baffled that Opening Day is on a Thursday? I know MLB doesn't really care about how the fans reaction to that is because people will show up to most stadiums either way, but it'd be great to have a three day weekend, and not take a day off mid week.
  6. I'm interested too. Using black sharpie though? Brutal.
  7. Agree with the rest of you. I'm all set.
  8. I’m taking offers on any and all of these. I’m just looking to clear space. PM me if you are interested. I’d prefer to do local pickup in the Milwaukee area, but lemme know. I have cubes - asking you add a buck onto your offer if you are interested. I’ll be throwing these up on a facebook group too, but wanted you guys to get a crack at em also. All balls are OMLB on the sweet spot in pen unless noted. Thanks! Jed Bradley (w/1st Round Draft Pick inscription) Russell Branyan Hiram Burgos Dave Bush Kentrail Davis Doug Davis Carlos Delgado (OLB) Johnny Estrada Eric Ferris Mat Gamel Alex Gonzalez Taylor Green Tony Gwynn Jr Jim Henderson Zack Jackson Jason Kendall Corey Koskie (not on sweet spot) Dave Krynzel (not on sweet spot) Jeff Suppan (batting practice ball - has grass stain and hit marks) Martin Maldonado Gary Matthews (black sharpie - not on sweet spot) Keith Moreland (not on sweet spot) Hunter Morris Nyjer Morgan (w/ “T Plush” inscription) Chris Narveson (w “Narv Dog” inscription) Dan Patrick Mark Rodgers (w/1st Rd inscription) CC Sabathia (w/ C.Y inscription, fading) Lonnie Smith (completely yellowed - blue sharpie) Carlos Villanueva (fading at end of signature) Warren Spahn (VERY faded)
  9. We've been watching the following: Westworld Crashing Shameless (though we're in the middle of season 6 and we're beginning to lose interest) Atlanta Game of Thrones Flint Town The Deuce Everything Sucks Home Improvement (We always have a "mindless" sitcom series on when we wanna watch something light)
  10. Try craigslist or possibly a card show or card shop? Though the card show/shop route won't land you as much as you'd like to get.
  11. LOLZ
  12. I had/have a Fitbit, I was really into it when I first got it. I monitored my water intake online and tried everyday to get those 10,000 steps. But as noted above after some time the novelty wore off. I checked it, but didn't go out of my way to get to 10,000 steps. Whichever model I had the band was peeling and they didn't make a replacement. I was able to get a warranty on it, but the next one did the same thing within about 6 months. They wouldn't give me a replacement for that one because I was two weeks past warranty. I was super gluing it for awhile, but I got tired of doing that, and the glue was really starting to show. I didn't think it was worth it to spend $100 because the band wore out. I'm sure my average steps are down now, and I'm sure they've improved their wrist bands, but since I'm not a runner anyway, I don't think it's worth it.
  13. Miggs, I woulda done the same thing. I just had no idea it was happening. $25 is a steal for that many players, and Young was signing everything.
  14. How did the free line look after Yelich/Cain?
  15. How’d everyone do today? The rummage sale is no longer the treasure chest it used to be, but I got an older nameless jersey with #71 on the back. There was no shot at getting to Hader though. The free line was insane. Missed out on Arcia. Got Knebel, Plesac, and Shaw. Was able to get Woodruff, Wilkerson and Williams on postcards since everyone else was waiting for Yelich and Cain. There’s Yelich signed balls on eBay for 25 so I just ordered one off there. The Brewers coulda easily raked in a quick $5000 to Brewers Charity by setting up a stage for each guy. Got 6 signed cards for my 1979 signed Topps project, and took off. Debated seeing what the line was gonna look like after Yelich signed, but I was spent. How was your day?
  16. I had a couple silver sharpies I’m bringing. I got my Hoffman jersey signed with a silver sharpie and it looks pretty good. Though in hindsight it woulda popped more with a silver paint marker.
  17. Yeah, that line is gonna be insane. I got Cain years ago. Thinking it’d be easier to just get Yelich off eBay.
  18. Very late to the party here. We have 5 years with two guys. We still have Corey Ray coming up. And five years to restock the outfield. By the time these contracts are up, we should have 4-5 guys ready to come up and stay competitive. If we can win now, win now. We can't play for the future forever. If this squad gets a ring, we can play 60 win ball for the next 10 years for all I care.
  19. Double post.
  20. I wonder how many tickets are gonna sell between tomorrow morning and Sunday after today.
  21. I’m hoping that Waukesha Sports has Knebel balls for 15. 25 bucks cuz he was an All Star?! LOL for crying out loud.
  22. I got Corey Knebel's autograph, took multiple photos, and had a brief conversation with him last year since there was NO line around him when I visited. I was pretty surprised by the lack of fan attention, but it worked out for me! Yeah, last year he was just a reliever. But with him being an All Star closer now I'm sure it will increase somewhat. He obviously won't bring in the line of Robin Yount. Probably not even the line of Jimmy Nelson or Domingo Santana, but we'll see.
  23. Here is the full lineup: Players Jesus Aguilar Chase Anderson Orlando Arcia Jacob Barnes Jett Bandy Ryan Braun Lewis Brinson Keon Broxton Corbin Burnes Jhoulys Chacin Zach Davies Tim Dillard Oliver Drake Junior Guerra Josh Hader Monte Harrison Keston Hiura Adrian Houser Jeremy Jeffress Corey Knebel Jimmy Nelson Hernan Perez Brett Phillips Manny Pina Domingo Santana Travis Shaw Eric Sogard Brent Suter Eric Thames Stephen Vogt Tyler Webb Aaron Wilkerson Taylor Williams Brandon Woodruff Coaching Staff Craig Counsell Darnell Coles Marcus Hanel Derek Johnson Jason Lane Pat Murphy Ed Sedar Carlos Subero Lee Tunnell Matt Erickson (Class-A Wisconsin manager) Alumni Don August Jerry Augustine Jeff Cirillo Cecil Cooper Rollie Fingers Jim Gantner Larry Hisle Dan Plesac Ken Sanders Gorman Thomas Paul Wagner Robin Yount Executives & Broadcasters Matt Arnold Mark Attanasio Craig Coshun Lane Grindle Jeff Levering Sophia Minnaert Rick Schlesinger David Stearns Bob Uecker
  24. Do any of you guys have extras of base rookie cards for any of the prospects that you could sell me? I would imagine the base cards don't go for a lot, though I have no idea. Please inbox me, I wouldn't mind getting cards signed, but I'm pretty picky about getting baseballs signed these days. I'm currently out of room.
  25. I'll be there. I posted this also on the Trading Post forum. That post can be moved/deleted/whatever if this is a better spot for it. All good with me.
