  1. I'm holding off on anything until I know what it is. I'm not a GoT fan, though my wife is and may be into that. If it's a bobblehead I'll probably go because all the theme nights were announced awhile back, and this one could certainly slip through the cracks, and I'll cleanup.
  2. Nothing sickened this old Milwaukee Brave fan more than to see photos of Warren Spahn and Eddie Mathews plastered on the wall at Turner Field. Spahn never wore an Atlanta uniform and Mathews did only briefly. Not to relive the whole horrendous stealing of the franchise, but stuff like this just pours salt in the wounds that never heal. A lot of old Milwaukee Braves fans had allegiances before the Braves arrived and got over their leaving, but for us baby boomers born between 1947 and 1956, the Braves were our first baseball love and Mathews our first hero. It still hurts. By the way, the Burdette honor was long overdue. I see the argument, but Atlanta should have retired Spahn and Matthews and I'm glad they did. Jackie Robinson never played in LA but his number was retired there, and he absolutely deserved that. I'm sure there are other similar cases, but that one stands out to be obvious.
  3. That wall of fame is a joke there is obviously players up there that belong, but it was mostly set up to add an attraction to Miller Park. The Brewers don't have a rich history like the Yankees, Giants, Dodgers, or Cardinals, so they created one. I'm not complaining, but when you take it for what it is, it doesn't really matter who made it up there in front of someone else. At least the Walk of Fame is preventing players from getting in. And yeah, Jenkins should probably be next, but I'd still think he's borderline. Out of curiosity, what are people's thoughts about Ben Sheets on the Walk of Fame?
  4. As long as money is to be made, it won't change. This holds true moreso with the NFL, but MLB makes money off Spring Training, too.
  5. For what it was, it was fine. There was really nothing creative about it though.
  6. Pretty sure his "vegan" stint lasted about six months.
  7. I'm surprised to hear that didn't happen, as it always seemed a draw. I'd guess opening day tickets weren't going to be as hard to come by as many people most likely dropped their 10 or 20 packs through the rebuild. Not that we were planning on camping out, but 6 of the people in my normal group all won the lottery to buy tickets, making me think they were able to draw more names than years past.
  8. No expectations here. Bought my wife a 53 cent card from the dollar store, and I received nothing. Its just another day. That's what I thought too. But apparently that changed between last year and this one.
  9. Valentines Day and all the expectations that come with it.
  10. Guys were only able to sign one item.
  11. Bratwurst Stitch N Pitch. Turbo must be doing cartwheels down 41 South!!! I can't tell if there is even a Brewers logo on the Iron Man bobble.
  12. Seemed like attendance was down. I mostly go for autographs and memorabilia, so I didn't pay much attention to the other attractions, though it seemed people were enjoying themselves while walking around. My day went like this: I got in there hit the rummage sale first. They scaled back on that, much of the better gamer stuff you could normally find for cheap was moved to another area where jerseys of guys like Maldonado were being sold for $150 and up. I got a #99 jersey with no name on the back for $25. They had a handful of other no name jerseys, along with coaches and other players whose names I haven't heard. Not even sure what year they were from. Also picked up a brand new St Patricks Day fitted hat for $10, a barking hank bobble for $10 and two Hank bobbles from the Marathon for $10 each. My wife will be thrilled to put one on her desk at work. It was now about 10:15. From there I went to the prosepects line to stand in line for Brinson, Hader, and Phillips. There wasn't any schedule for them. We stood in line for 20 minutes before finding out they were part of the game show and wouldn't be signing till at least 12:45. I left the line and roamed around. Went over to the memorabilia area. Lots of the same stuff you'd expect. Signed photos, cards, 80's giveaways, tons of bobbleheads, etc. Picked up a Jean Segura All Star game ball for $10 and a pair of game used Aramis Ramirez signed cleats for $50. At some other booth I picked up an Italian bobble to make up for the one I accidentally sold while cleaning inventory a few years ago. Went back to the prospects line, stood around there until Brinson and Cordell started signing. Got Brinson on a ball, got Cordell on their 5x7 card. Got back in line and was able to get Hader on a ball and Phillips on a 5x7 card. From there I took one more lap around the memorabilia area, got a few slices of Palermios, some chocolate milk, and samples of brats and 4 cheese sausage. By 2pm I was on my way to the car. With only one All Star whose auto I've gotten 6-7 times over the years, and getting Villar last year, there wasn't anyone I really cared about getting, so my day was pretty easy. Hope everyone else enjoyed it, too.
  13. It's been about 10 years since going to spring training, but I enjoyed being in the grass more than being the seats. If I remember correctly, Maryville's seats are pretty cramped. Drink a Kiltlifter, that was the AZ popularity equivalent of a Spotted Cow or Riverwest Stein when I was there. Stop at an In N Out burger, too. That's all I got.
  14. Burnzy, did you get it signed? Pics?
  15. I actually thought the line for Brinson moved faster then it did for Phillips and Hader, but I got em all. I totally understand if you want to get more than one item signed by a prospect. What I don't like is those kids (and moreso the degenerate ebaying adults) going up and asking them to sign a ball and then 8 cards. That's absurd.
  16. Is the bat authenticated as game used? Being Yount, it's probably worth it as it will instantly become a centerpiece of your collection, if it isn't already. Doing a quick search on eBay, game used signed bats for Yount are being listed at minimum $999.99. None of them sold, but that's what the listing minimum is. I looked at his SCP Auctions to see if there were any gamer bats up, but the only one was his 3000th hit, and it was the highest selling item. I'd say if you got the cash, go for it. But if your going to get him, throw down the extra $30 and get the HOF inscription too. Thats just my opinion.
  17. Looking to get Brinson, Arcia, and Hader. Maybe Phillips too. I don't mind them charging, as it does go to charity. What I enjoy the most is the rummage sale, however, last year it was pretty weak. I'm looking forward to Sunday, even if its just to get prospects (and Arcia).
  18. I had just posted this in the Trading Post forum too, if monitors want to remove mine, they may. That Yount line will be something, it wouldn't surprise me if people lined up for him Saturday night.
  19. https://brewers.mlblogs.com/brewers-on-deck-to-include-over-60-players-coaches-broadcasters-alumni-bcf0d7197ed2#.k5bu1qes3 Interesting that all autos will be first come first serve. That Yount line will be a doozy.
  20. email sent, and PM sent, too
  21. The TGI Friday's at Miller Park had (and may still have) Yogi Berra quotes all over, and at one point had a Cubs sign hanging up on their wall. Yogi Berra is looked at as a baseball icon, but c'mon, and the Cubs sign?! How any of that was approved is beyond me.
  22. I saw this thread and was like "HOLY CRAP!" then I found out this was originally from 2014. Still "HOLY CRAP!" but it's funny a post from two years ago popped up recently.
  23. Key broke off in my ignition last night while I was parked at the Pick N Save parking lot. Thankfully my mom's boyfriend was able to get it out since I couldn't. But he had to drive from Brookfield to Tosa to look at it. I was stuck there for about 90 minutes. I sat inside to keep warm as they blared Christmas music over the PA. It was brutal.
  24. rwa12, I've only heard part of the new Tribe album. I didn't wanna download it because it's coming out on vinyl next week (I think), and I'm sure that will come with a DL code. From every review I've heard from all my friends, it's the album of the year. Can't wait to hear it. Other than that, the only 2016 released records I got this year were: Descendents: Hypercaffium Spazziate Big Eyes: Stake My Claim I bought a ton of records from Dope Folks earlier in the fall, but they are all reissues of rare 90's underground hip hop. I didn't buy much from this year because there is so much great music from the past in general that I search out, it's hard to keep up with everything coming out today. I just don't have the time to do it like I used to. Youtube/Soundcloud also makes it easier to just listen to part of an album and dismiss it. When you used to have to buy physical copies of records, there was more of an obligation to give a record at least 3 or 4 listens since you spent the money on it. Also the price of vinyl has shot up so much lately, that I don't spend as much on records. My friends and I used to all buy vinyl when no one else did because it was cheaper than CDs. People would ask "they still make the vinyls?" (yes, vinyl with an "s") Now you can buy LPs almost anywhere and they are 20-30 bucks. Thanks Record Store Day! *Thumbs Down*
  25. My cousins and a lot of my friends grew up and went to school in Neenah. None of them ever really complained about it. The Fox Valley has grown a lot since I'd visit my cousins in high school. There's a lot more to do now than 20 years ago, I know that much. It's probably the area of the state with the greatest population increase in that time, though I could be wrong. The high school I work at is dead center of highest incarceration rate in the state. I promise you there is nothing in the Fox Valley that comes close to anything happening in Milwaukee, or even Racine/Kenosha. I'd feel comfortable anywhere at anytime in the Fox Valley. I'd even feel inclined to send my kids to West where it's more diverse. That's just me.
