  1. Just for the sake of clarity, the surgeon who operated on Rogers is not employed by the Brewers. I have no idea whether or not he knew which medications are on the MLB banned list. You'd think the Brewers would have provided a list to him, but you never know.
  2. He was optioned in '06, '07 and '08. He's out of options.
  3. As of a few days ago, some of their fans were convinced that they still were.
  4. So are the Cardinals still in control of their own destiny, or has that changed yet?
  5. De la Cruz is out of options, and the Brewers wouldn't risk exposing him to waivers right now, I think. Dillard would be the guy more likely to be sent out.
  6. I believe he goes by "Junior." Slides off the tongue a little easier than Raphachel.
  7. Would you use one or more of those descriptors for Mike Cameron? Is Mike Cameron reckless, defiant, an addict, or stupid?
  8. Nashville turned the ol' 8-4-3 triple play in the bottom of the 3rd.
  9. ...is a ridiculous assumption. You have no evidence. You're just trying to make this fit your cause. It's asinine and defamatory. Of course you are. Otherwise, you wouldn't have brought it up.
  10. Fiers signed 6/14/09 as a 24 year old. The Brewers get 4 full years to evaluate him before he becomes eligible for the Rule 5 draft. Fiers won't be Rule 5 eligible until after the '13 season.
  11. I'd define a prospect as someone, who without any significant MLB playing time, could impact a MLB team. A prospect doesn't need to be a guy who could potentially hit .300/.400/.500 or throw 95 MPH on the black. Lots of guys in MLB do neither of those things. Minor leaguers who project as, or could potentially be, competent players have a lot of value. They don't need to have impact potential to make an impact.
  12. Helena's Ben McMahan is kind of an interesting guy. Hits line drives, but hits them hard. A converted catcher playing OF for the first time. Needs to walk more, but will only be 22 going into Wisconsin next year.
  13. There wasn't a gun reading mentioned, but it didn't look 98 to me. I would guess around 94, give or take 2 MPH, but that's just a guess.
  14. May I have a definition of the way prospect mavens use the term? I didn't know there was an exact definition. Baseball America and Kevin Goldstein are such casuals. They're so ignorant! Right?
  15. Brandon Williamson is pitching for the first time since being hit in the head with a line drive on 7/1. Good to see him back.
  16. He's had a number of early-count GB outs. I've watched almost every pitch of his tonight - he's definitely thrown too many un-needed pitches. I also don't think his high FB will get nearly the swing and misses at the MLB level that it does in AAA.
  17. Peralta has induced a lot of swing and misses on his high fastball tonight. I know he doesn't have any walks, but I'd still like to see his control refined. He's going to a lot of unnecessarily deep 3-2, 2-2 counts. When he pounds the corners, he's really, really good.
  18. I believe that Sthervin Matos has a sister named Sthefani (aka Mzz Cuchicuchi). Sthphantastic. Info you'll only get here, ya'll.
  19. I'm 80% sure about this, but he would be "recalled, not to report" and then placed on the MLB DL (be it 15- or 60- day). Teams usually try to avoid this with minor league players as the player accumulates big league service time on the Major League DL.
  20. Posted this on Twitter but forgot to do it here... RHP Mark Rogers goes to the 7-day DL in Brevard County. 1B/OF Chris Dennis activated from the Temporarily Inactive List to fill the spot. In Wisconsin, 1B Cody Hawn returns from the DL and IF Mike Brownstein returns to the DL with an undisclosed injury. Hawn had been on the DL since July 21st.
  21. IIRC, McFarland's bonus was slot value for the 103rd overall pick, which is in the early-mid 3rd round. If signability weren't a constraint with him, he would have gone in the top 5ish rounds, I think. Maybe Patrick can provide a better answer on that. How did 18 get more than twice that of 6 through 10? Much more so than the NFL or NBA drafts, players drop in the MLB draft because they're regarded as tough signs. A lot of this has to do with the lack of hard contract slotting in the baseball draft. First round talent can drop way past even the 18th round.
  22. The 18th round pick's price tag was listed because the 18th rounder just signed. Anyway, since you asked so nicely... 1a. Jungmann: $2.525M 1b. Bradley: $2M 2. Lopez: $690K 3. Gagnon: $340K 4. Ramirez: $213.3K 5. Reed: $500K 6. Keller: $150K 7. Goforth: $100K 8. Houke: $150K 9. Dowell: $100K 10. Strong: $25K 18. McFarland: $315K 27. Thompson: $100K That's all we know.
  23. Here's the link to the Bradley signing tweet. Tweeted by someone I've never heard of, so I guess it isn't 100% confirmed.
  24. Don't be nervous. 22 of 33 1st rounders still not announced as signed. I mean, you can be nervous if you want.
