  1. Or 1B. Hart is a below average outfielder, at least in my view. Braun surpassed him as a defender a few years ago.
  2. Here's what I would (try to) do, if not what I think the Brewers will do: Sign Clint Barmes; if he's unavailable, sign Ramon Santiago as well as Jamey Carroll or Nick Punto.Attempt to re-sign both Saito and Hawkins and hope one of them does re-sign.Attempt to re-sign Jerry Hairston; if he doesn't want to sign, sign Kevin Kouzmanoff or Nick Punto (if you haven't signed him already).Platoon Hairston/Kouzmanoff/Punto with Green at third base unless...McGehee shows something in camp, because he's coming back next year. Sign Reed Johnson, Cody Ross or Josh Willingham to platoon with Gamel in RF and be a decent bat off the bench. Then, obviously, move Hart to 1B.Don't mess with the pitching staff too much.Option Estrada to AAA to get him and keep him stretched out.My roster would be: Position players: Lucroy, Kottaras, Hart, Weeks, Barmes, Green, two of Hairston/Punto/McGehee/Carroll/Santiago/Kouzmanoff, Gamel, Morgan, Gomez, Braun, one of Willingham/Ross/Johnson.Pitchers: Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Wolf, Narveson, Axford, one of Saito/Hawkins, Stetter, Parra, Loe, Kintzler, de la Cruz.
  3. Win. I'll go with Jean-Marc Chapus or some other member of the ownership group that no one has heard of.
  4. I didn't watch most of the game, so I can't comment on Braun this game, but he's at least an average defender in left. I think people really rag on him still for his time at third. He takes average routes to fly balls now, and he has an above average arm.
  5. I care about resultsNot for long, you wouldn't.
  6. Sign Josh Willingham and have him platoon with Gamel. Or, ditto for Cody Ross. Or, ditto for Reed Johnson. Or, ditto for Juan Rivera.
  7. After posting an 871 OPS / 2 bWAR season in 2008 with the Reds (297 PA), Hairston garnered a 1 year/$2M deal. The most he's ever made is $2.3M and he's going to be 36 in May. Older, non-star vets haven't fared particularly well the past few offseasons, so I guess I don't see Hairston getting a significantly higher AAV than he's gotten so far in his career. I'd be happy to have him back, though.
  8. I haven't physically seen any Cardinals players eat any babies.
  9. I bet Bob Brenly is having a drink or two. Because it's a weekday.
  10. The song that plays when the Dbacks score a run reminds me of wanting to never listen to that song again. Ungodly annoying. Sounds like a song from a bad Japanese baseball game from 1993.
  11. Didn't Braun have a boxing-style title belt after they won the division?
  12. I started the year at 247 (I'm 6'6) and felt sluggish and bloated. I was somewhere around 20% body fat. I've always had a pretty thin build, so all the extra weight sucked to carry around. I had persistent back and knee pain and my energy level was sapped. My goal at the beginning of the year was to get down to 185, which is about middle BMI for my height. I'm now down to 193 and my body fat is down to 11%. I had never run so much as a 5K before this year, and now I run 10Ks pretty easily at a decent pace. I was keeping track of what I was eating pretty religiously at the beginning of the year, but as time has gone on, my mental calorie calculator has become pretty good and all the exercise has boosted my metabolism back to where it was 5 years ago. I'm really not on any sort of diet... I just eat smart, I guess. So I have 3 months to lose 8 pounds and I'm pretty amped about reaching that goal and moving on to bigger and better goals next year.
  13. I did not know that Chris Pratt was cast as Hatteberg. I don't think I could take that character seriously, I'd keep having flashbacks to Parks and Rec.
  14. In trading for Morrison, the Brewers would be able to shift someone to his *better* defensive position. A rare defensive win for this organization. I love the idea, and he may well be available if the Marlins go on a spending spree. Wouldn't cost close to Braun or Gallardo... what?
  15. Although I can't think of m(any) off the top of my head, there were quite a few name changes. Most came along with an age "update" as well, obviously.
  16. Neither of which won the World Series. So there you go.
  17. Phenomenal bunting posture by Surhoff. Guy has a surprisingly awesome career... 134th most hits in MLB history is nothing to sneeze at. Oh... http://www.premiermlbsale.com/upfile/20110611/MLB%20New%20York%20Mets%205%20Wright%20White%20Premier%20Jerseys13301.jpg This is the first thing that comes up when I do a Google image search for "Brewers number 5."
  18. Well, all of Milwaukee is still judging Prince Fielder for going ape-crap on Guillermo Mota two years ago... wait.
  19. Why? If he doesn't earn it, he doesn't earn it. The team shouldn't take his option status into account when considering what is best for the player. They don't need to be overly aggressive with him, they have more than a whole year to let the situation work itself out. The only way I'd say he definitely, without a doubt gets assigned to AAA is if they move him to the bullpen. Which might be his long term home anyway.
  20. Nice work. I'll have the "official" Brewerfan early, early, early 2012 roster projection in a few weeks. A few thoughts: Maysonet is a free agent. So are Statia, Gonzalez and Machado (and Lopez and Sanchez). It's pretty likely the Brewers will sign a few minor league FA middle infielders to replace these guys. They don't have the organizational depth in the upper minors to cover these spots right now. They also might re-sign some of them (coughStatia).I wouldn't be surprised if Halton, Haydel and/or Wheeler start in AA. It's almost impossible to guess the AAA pitching staff this far out. They almost always sign a half dozen or more AAAA-type pitchers to compete in camp. I don't know if they'll stick with Merklinger as a starter in AAA, and I don't know if Scarpetta will earn a promotion.
  21. Josh Wilson.
  22. That's actually how Josh Wilson dresses most of the time. I like Counsell's shirt. Would work great with a Nudie Suit. Gram Parsons is jealous, somewhere.
  23. Alright, who had Moeller, Gerut and Kottaras as the next three Brewers to hit for the cycle in the office pool after Molitor hit for the cycle in '91?
