  1. This is a topic about pitchers. Regardless... Which FA outfielder is out there next year that the Brewers would realistically have a shot to sign, that is better than Lorenzo Cain? The Brewers seem to think it is, or they wouldn't be dedicating resources to his pursuit. I'll defer to their opinion of plausibility.
  2. Which FA pitcher is out there next year that the Brewers would realistically have a shot to sign, that is better than Yu Darvish?
  3. The Brewers passed on Groome in the draft for reasons other than baseball talent. I doubt they've had a change of heart, but it's possible. Puk I'd absolutely be on board with. Don't know if the A's would be though.
  4. It’s not just news, it’s capital-N News.
  5. Bauer would be a good pickup for the Brewers. Don't know about the clubhouse stuff. He's not a FA until after the 2020 season. That said, BREWERWORLD IS A PARODY ACCOUNT. OMG.
  6. Either Trevor Bauer trade, or 24 hr deadline... or both. http://rs270.pbsrc.com/albums/jj88/BlckRose270/377442591.gif~c200
  7. I actually don't think that's true. There are a number of people demonstratively opposed to trading Burnes in any deal for Archer, full stop. I followed Corbin Burnes intently this past season, and made it a point to watch him pitch when I could. He's a competitor with good stuff, but IMO he's not so can't-miss that you pass on getting the guy you hope Burnes turns out to be in a few years. There's risk in Archer underperforming, but that same risk is that much greater with Burnes. The odds are, I would say, heavily in favor of Archer outperforming Burnes over the remainder of Archer's contract. Or Burnes' contract for that matter.
  8. This was my first thought as well. I wonder how much they have left to give? It seems like they've given half of the teams in the league international money.
  9. If the Brewers deal for Kipnis, you'd have to think that even with the low-ish payroll they have now, the Brewers would still want Cleveland to kick in some dough. $30 million is too much risk for the season Kipnis had last year, injuries or not.
  10. I look at it as, how is trading a guy you hope might turn into Archer, actually turning him into Archer, an inherently bad trade?
  11. Kipnis, when healthy, is one of the best hitters in baseball. Problem is the health thing, and he's owed $30 million through the end of 2019.
  12. If the Brewers get Archer and Cobb, it’ll be too bad that they didn’t get Tommy Hunter as well. Rays North.
  13. Do you think we end up with a second arm? A FA maybe? Yes. Could you handicap who you think the Brewers get via free agency, if it isn’t Darvish?
  14. Has it tho? viewtopic.php?f=82&t=6641
  15. Just imagine if he could be a battery with PALMSO!!! Missed opportunities Wasn’t it PALSMO? I’d have to look.
  16. I feel as though we need to have a sticked post to note this: BrewerWorld is a parody account. Not serious. Don't take the account seriously.
  17. A little surprised it wasn't Bandy instead. The two have roughly the same talent level (IMO), and Susac has an option remaining while Bandy does not. Both were/are longshots at this point to make the MLB roster out of spring training. Oh well. Hopefully, he clears waivers and gets another shot with the organization.
  18. I just don't think the Indians are going to trade Mejia. Since the Lucroy non-deal, he's upped his value to the point where I doubt the prospect of getting Santana and/or Shaw is enough for the Indians to move him. My issue with saying that Salazar is better than Suter/Guerra/etc, is that while it's true (when he's healthy), the Brewers shouldn't be trading a couple of mid-20s .360+ wOBA guys for an upgrade over Suter. You can go out and get Patrick Corbin for that. For Santana and Shaw, I want a pitcher that's an upgrade over Jimmy Nelson and Chase Anderson. FWIW, it also would seem to run counter to Stearns' MO to package Santana and Shaw.
  19. Braun isn’t being paid $20 million this year. It’s $15 million. Salary is $19 million but $4 million of that is deferred.
  20. $1 million is deferred each year, to be paid 2023-2027. So 2018 is essentially $14 million, with $1 million of that deferred until 2023.
  21. Somewhat surprisingly to me, Corbin has allowed the Brewers to hit .314/.390/.445 when he's on the mound. That Brewers 835 OPS is the highest mark off of Corbin by any National League club. I say it surprises me because I seem to remember him pitching well against Milwaukee - apparently not. Regardless, he would be a solid get, even though he'd only be around for a year.
  22. In other words the Brewers have about $5 million more to spend that I thought they did. Nice!
  23. Really late to the party, but I like the deal for the Brewers. In a way, it hedges their risk by turning three guys that might turn into Yelich, into Yelich. It's highly likely that 1 or 2 of the Brinson/Diaz/Harrison group don't amount to anything at the MLB level, and the odds of two of them turning into assets as productive as Yelich I'd have to think are pretty long. Not saying all three of them couldn't make a huge impact at the big league level, but the odds are against it. As for Yamamoto, I've generally been kind of "meh" on him and in the end, I wouldn't consider him a huge loss with all the other similar pitching depth the Brewers have in the minor leagues (Ponce/Jankins/Perrin/Derby/Williams/Brown/Webb/Herrera/etc). Though he did seem like a great kid, and I truly wish him nothing but the best when he's not pitching against Brewers.
