  1. Final: AZL Athletics Gold 4, AZL Brewers Blue 3 AZL Brewers Blue Box Score Alex Hall tripled as part of a three-hit night and Terence Doston retook the AZL stolen base lead with two more base nabs, but unearned runs allowed in the 5th and 6th cost the Blues a chance at victory. Antoine Kelly started and while he allowed his first hit as a pro, Kelly struck out 4 and walked no one. AZL Brewers Blue Game Log
  2. Teams have pulled a lot of scouting resources out of Venezuela due to the country's political instability. There are almost no non-native scouts in Venezuela at the moment. Perhaps the Brewers thought it was a market inefficiency if most teams were unwilling to spend as much time scouting there, to double down on scouting there for themselves?
  3. Another NDFA signing for the Brewers, infielder Matthew Mika out of UCF.
  4. Anthony DiMeglio has been released. He made one appearance back on June 23rd.
  5. Final: AZL Indians Blue 6, AZL Brewers Gold 4 AZL Brewers Gold Box Score Corey Ray, out since the middle of May with a finger injury, began a rehab assignment with the Golds and contributed with a single and a double and two runs scored, but 10 more walks from Gold pitchers pushed the the Indians to victory. Andres Melendez and Jesus Chirinos both contributed two singles. AZL Brewers Gold Game Log It's Corey: AZL Brewers Gold Bottom of the 1st Odrick Pitre flies out to right fielder Julian Escobedo. Corey Ray doubles (1) on a ground ball to right fielder Julian Escobedo. Ashton McGee flies out to center fielder Will Brennan. Andres Melendez singles on a line drive to left fielder Cristopher Cespedes. Corey Ray scores. Fielding error by left fielder Cristopher Cespedes. Wild pitch by pitcher Diarlin Jimenez. Andres Melendez to 2nd. Jesus Chirinos hit by pitch. Roberto Molina called out on strikes.
  6. Final: AZL Brewers Blue 5, AZL Rangers 2 AZL Brewers Blue Box Score Cam Devanney and Thomas Dillard each had two hits (for Dillard, the first two of his career), Darrien Miller got a double in his pro debut, and Nick Belzer made another strong start to lead the Blues to victory. AZL Brewers Blue Game Log Dillard's first hit/Darrien's first hit: AZL Brewers Blue Top of the 1st Jackie Urbaez strikes out swinging. Alex Hall grounds out, second baseman Cody Freeman to first baseman Yaniery Guzman. Cam Devanney walks. Thomas Dillard doubles (1) on a fly ball to left fielder Angel Aponte. Cam Devanney scores. Darrien Miller grounds out, shortstop Osleivis Basabe to first baseman Yaniery Guzman. AZL Brewers Blue Top of the 8th Heriberto Hernandez remains in the game as the designated hitter. Defensive switch from first base to third base for Yaniery Guzman. Defensive switch from third base to shortstop for Keyber Rodriguez. Defensive Substitution: Fernando Valdez replaces shortstop Osleivis Basabe, batting 7th, playing first base. Thomas Dillard walks. Darrien Miller doubles (1) on a line drive to left fielder Angel Aponte. Thomas Dillard to 3rd. Kevin Hardin strikes out swinging. Arbert Cipion singles on a line drive to left fielder Angel Aponte. Thomas Dillard scores. Darrien Miller scores. Fielding error by left fielder Angel Aponte. Pitching Change: Spencer Mraz replaces George Janca. Victor Vargas lines out to center fielder Alexander Ovalles. Orveo Saint walks. Arbert Cipion to 2nd. Jackie Urbaez flies out to center fielder Alexander Ovalles.
  7. Final: AZL Brewers Gold 5, AZL Giants Black 3 AZL Brewers Gold Box Score Clearly dejected by their defeat in game one of the AZL Brewers Cup on Monday, the Golds lay an egg against the Reds (a common Brewers theme against the Reds on Tuesday, unfortunately). The team managed two singles, though they did walk seven times. They also managed four errors. Felix Valerio was responsible for one of the singles and one of the walks, which pushed his OPS to 840. The pitching was pretty decent, actually. Starter Eli Nabholz allowed a run in three innings of work, striking out six. He was relieved by Josh Shapiro, who allowed one earned run in his two innings, striking out 4. Jose Parra pitched a clean eighth with a strikeout of his own. AZL Brewers Gold Game Log
  8. Final: AZL Athletics Gold 11, AZL Brewers Blue 8 (10 innings) AZL Brewers Blue Box Score A late comeback from the Blues was thwarted by an A's big two-out rally in the 10th, as the team falls to 5-8. It's lucky the game was close at all as Blue pitchers combined to issue 14 walks and concede 13 hits, against only 5 strikeouts. Not going to go into the atrocity exhibition of the pitching lines here, but avert the eyes of young if they dare to look at it. As for the offense, it was another solid day of taking walks (they drew 10 of them) and stealing bases (they stole 8 of them). The Blues lead the AZL in team steals with a whopping 27 in just 12 games. Cam Devanney stole 3 to push his season total to 9. Terence Doston, leading off for what I believe is the first time, stole 2 to push his season total to... 9. They are tied for the league lead. Doston, who when he signed became one of the fastest guys in the organization with a sub-6.6 60, has a pretty respectable 680 OPS thru 11 games after doubling and walking on Tuesday. There's still a bunch of raw traits in his game as he transitions into becoming a full-time baseball player, but there is also a lot to be excited about. Devanney went 3-3 with a walk, besides the stolen bases. Devanney nabbed all of 7 bases in three years at Elon, so we'll see where the pro stolen base totals go from here. Orveo Saint got two hits, Jackie Urbaez singled and walked thrice, while Arbert Cipion (not to be confused with Albert Ciprian, signed yesterday) walked twice and stole two bases. Kevin Hardin returned to the lineup after being out for a few games with an apparent injury. AZL Brewers Blue Game Log Tie game!/Bad luck: AZL Brewers Blue Bottom of the 9th Cam Devanney hit by pitch. Caleb Marquez doubles (3) on a fly ball to center fielder Yhoelnys Gonzalez. Cam Devanney scores. Wild pitch by pitcher Jesus Lage. Caleb Marquez to 3rd. YongKang Kou strikes out swinging. Arbert Cipion walks. Pitching Change: Brock Whittlesey replaces Jesus Lage. Arbert Cipion steals (4) 2nd base. Anderson Melendez strikes out swinging. Orveo Saint singles on a fly ball to right fielder Christopher Quintin. Caleb Marquez scores. Arbert Cipion scores. Orveo Saint out at 2nd on the throw, right fielder Christopher Quintin to catcher Matt Cross to shortstop Elvis Peralta. AZL Athletics Gold Top of the 10th Christopher Quintin starts inning at 2nd base. Elvis Peralta singles on a ground ball to left fielder Arbert Cipion. Christopher Quintin to 3rd. Yhoelnys Gonzalez grounds out, pitcher Jian Yi to first baseman YongKang Kou. Elvis Peralta to 2nd. Jian Yi intentionally walks Marty Bechina. Christopher Quintin out at home, catcher Caleb Marquez to pitcher Jian Yi. Elvis Peralta to 3rd. Marty Bechina to 2nd. Matt Cross walks. Joshwan Wright singles on a ground ball to right fielder Anderson Melendez. Elvis Peralta scores. Marty Bechina scores. Matt Cross to 2nd. Gio Dingcong singles on a ground ball to left fielder Arbert Cipion. Matt Cross to 3rd. Joshwan Wright to 2nd. Iraj Serrano singles on a line drive to center fielder Terence Doston. Matt Cross scores. Joshwan Wright scores. Gio Dingcong to 2nd. Cesare Astorri walks. Gio Dingcong to 3rd. Iraj Serrano to 2nd. Christopher Quintin grounds out, shortstop Cam Devanney to first baseman YongKang Kou.
  9. LHP/OF Clayton Andrews has been promoted from Carolina to Biloxi. RHP Aaron Kurcz transferred to the Rocky Mountain roster, though he’ll remain with Biloxi.
  10. Taylor Floyd is signed and will pitch for the Vibes.
  11. AZL BREWERS CUP GAME ONE Final: AZL Brewers Blue 7, AZL Brewers Gold 4 AZL Brewers Cup Box Score The AZL Brewers teams met for the first of four intra-squad games this AZL season and played what I'm sure was a spirited affair fraught with rivalry, intrigue, and camaraderie. Also, no one got hurt and no one gave a seriously embarrassing performance. The Blue team pulled out the victory thanks to a 4-run fifth inning. The teams face off next on the 13th. Will the Golds avenge this loss? DUN DUN DUN. Felix Valerio lead all 19 Brewers hitters with 4 hits, including a double. The 18-year-old was acquired in the Keon Broxton trade and is hitting .357 ten games into his season. Ashton McGee, the recent 18th round pick out of North Carolina, had 3 hits, also including a double. Three other players had two-hit games: Daniel Castillo, Jackie Urbaez, and Alex Hall. Urbaez hit the game's lone home run. Hall tripled, as did Cam Devanney. Terence Doston added a double, too. Devanney and Arbert Cipion both walked twice. As for the pitching, I had a bit of existential angst last night when I saw that two of my favorite AZL pitchers would be facing off. In the end, Joey Matulovich and Alexis Ramirez both pitched ok. The pitching star of the game was NDFA Luis Contreras, who pitching 2 1/3 clean innings, striking out 5. Henry Medina pitched 2 scoreless innings, striking out 3. Dylan Prohoroff, "rehabbing" in the AZL while he sits on Wisconsin's IL, earned his first save as a Brewer with a scoreless 9th for the Blues. AZL Brewers Cup Game Log The winning inning: AZL Brewers Blue Bottom of the 5th Pitching Change: Peyton Long replaces Wuilder Rodriguez. Terence Doston doubles (2) on a fly ball to left fielder Oswel Leones. Throwing error by pitcher Peyton Long on the pickoff attempt. Jackie Urbaez homers (1) on a fly ball to right field. Terence Doston scores. Alex Hall singles on a line drive to right fielder Ashton McGee. Luis Silva pops out to second baseman Felix Valerio. Wild pitch by pitcher Peyton Long. Alex Hall to 2nd. Wild pitch by pitcher Peyton Long. Alex Hall to 3rd. Cam Devanney walks. Anderson Melendez strikes out swinging. Cam Devanney steals (6) 2nd base. Arbert Cipion walks. Mound Visit. Pitching Change: Luis Contreras replaces Peyton Long. Wild pitch by pitcher Luis Contreras. Alex Hall scores. Cam Devanney scores. Arbert Cipion out at home, catcher Andres Melendez to pitcher Luis Contreras. Throwing error by catcher Andres Melendez.
  12. RHP Anthony Bender promoted to Carolina from Wisconsin. RHP Max Lazar transferred back to Wisconsin from the AZL Gold, where he had apparently been rehabbing some undisclosed injury. Max made 3 appearances in the AZL over the past few weeks.
  13. Final: AZL Reds 10, AZL Brewers Gold 7 AZL Brewers Gold Box Score Home runs from Aaron Familia and Francis Florentino and some late-inning David Blaine-level escapes from reliever Jose Romero were not enough to lift the Golds to victory. I came away happy, though, as the best catching prospect in the system, Andres Melendez, made his season debut as he works back from an injury. AZL Brewers Gold Game Log Jose Romero gets out of bases-loaded, no out jams twice: AZL Reds Top of the 7th Pitching Change: Jose Romero replaces Kelvin Bender. Yan Contreras walks. Chadwick Tromp walks. Yan Contreras to 2nd. Wendell Marrero hit by pitch. Yan Contreras to 3rd. Chadwick Tromp to 2nd. Debby Santana called out on strikes. Jose Tello grounds into a double play, third baseman Aaron Familia to second baseman Felix Valerio to first baseman Jesus Chirinos. Wendell Marrero out at 2nd. Jose Tello out at 1st. AZL Reds Top of the 9th Yan Contreras walks. Chadwick Tromp walks. Yan Contreras to 2nd. Wendell Marrero singles on a line drive to left fielder Oswel Leones. Yan Contreras to 3rd. Chadwick Tromp to 2nd. Debby Santana lines into a double play, third baseman Aaron Familia to second baseman Felix Valerio. Chadwick Tromp out at 2nd. Jose Tello flies out to center fielder Francis Florentino.
  14. Final: AZL Brewers Blue 11, AZL Angels 0 AZL Brewers Blue Box Score The offense had 10 hits, 10 walks, and stole 8 bases while three Blue pitchers twirled the team's 3rd shutout of the season, to move the club to 4-7 on the season. Cam Devanney was on base 5 times (3-3, 2 BB, SB) and Terence Doston was on base 4 times (1-1, 3 BB, 4 SB) to lead the offensive attack. Luis Silva also added 2 hits and a walk. Jeyner Baez pitched the final two innings of the game, in relief of starter Ian Exposito and reliever Harold Chirino. The 23-year-old converted catcher lowered his ERA to 0.96 and has struck out 14 in 9.1 innings. May soon be time for a bump to Helena. An exciting day on the basepaths: BASERUNNING SB: Doston 4 (7, 2nd base off Duran/Marcano, 3rd base off Duran/Marcano, 2nd base off Aquino, E/Marcano, 2nd base off Gonzalez, J/Marcano); Urbaez 2 (7, 2nd base off Duran/Marcano, home off Duran/Marcano); Devanney (5, 2nd base off Duran/Marcano); Marquez (1, 2nd base off Gonzalez, J/Marcano). CS: Silva (1, 2nd base by Duran/Marcano); Cipion (2, 2nd base by Duran/Marcano); Doston (3, home by Aquino, E/Marcano); Devanney (2, 2nd base by Gonzalez, J/Marcano). PO: Marquez (2nd base by Gonzalez, J). AZL Brewers Blue Game Log The Angels defense falls apart in the 9th: AZL Brewers Blue Top of the 9th Terence Doston walks. Passed ball by catcher Marlon Marcano. Terence Doston to 2nd. Jackie Urbaez reaches on a throwing error by shortstop Kendy Moya. Terence Doston to 3rd. Pitching Change: Ryan Randel replaces Jenrry Gonzalez. Wild pitch by pitcher Ryan Randel. Terence Doston scores. Jackie Urbaez to 2nd. Alex Hall reaches on a fielding error by third baseman Julio De La Cruz. Luis Silva grounds out, third baseman Julio De La Cruz to first baseman Cristian Gomez. Jackie Urbaez to 3rd. Alex Hall to 2nd. Wild pitch by pitcher Ryan Randel. Jackie Urbaez scores. Alex Hall to 3rd. Cam Devanney singles on a ground ball to center fielder Jose Reyes. Alex Hall scores. Anderson Melendez strikes out swinging. Arbert Cipion singles on a ground ball to third baseman Julio De La Cruz. Cam Devanney to 2nd. Caleb Marquez singles on a line drive to center fielder Jose Reyes. Cam Devanney scores. Arbert Cipion to 3rd. Fielding error by center fielder Jose Reyes. Wild pitch by pitcher Ryan Randel. Caleb Marquez to 2nd. Victor Vargas lines out to third baseman Julio De La Cruz.
  15. Final: AZL Brewers Gold 5, AZL Giants Black 3 AZL Brewers Gold Box Score Felix Valerio cracked a season-high 3 hits and everyone else in the lineup hit exactly one single, as the two teams traded runs late with the Golds coming out on top. Valerio was one of the three players acquired from the Mets in the Keon Broxton trade. He slashed .319/.409/.433 last year in the DSL for the Mets and is off to a .321/.367/.429 start for the Brewers in the AZL. 34th rounder Josh Shapiro made his first pro start and threw 5 scoreless innings, striking out 5 against no walks and three hits. Jose Parra pitched 2 scoreless innings for his third save. AZL Brewers Gold Game Log The go-ahead run: AZL Brewers Gold Top of the 8th Jesus Chirinos grounds out, second baseman Ghordy Santos to first baseman Garrett Frechette. Oswel Leones walks. Oswel Leones steals (4) 2nd base. Ashton McGee singles on a ground ball to center fielder Grant McCray. Oswel Leones scores. Roberto Molina walks. Ashton McGee to 2nd. Mound Visit. Pitching Change: Francis Pena replaces Randy Rodriguez. Daniel Castillo grounds into a double play, second baseman Ghordy Santos to shortstop Dilan Rosario to first baseman Garrett Frechette. Roberto Molina out at 2nd. Daniel Castillo out at 1st.
  16. Final: AZL Rangers 2, AZL Brewers Blue 1 AZL Brewers Blue Box Score Another strong effort on the mound from Nick Belzer was not enough as the Blue bats fell silent and a late error allowed the Rangers' game-winning run to score. Belzer, an Iowa native who signed as a non-drafted free agent after the draft, worked 6 innings and allowed a run (his first as a pro) on 4 hits and a walk, while striking out 7. His pro ERA after two starts now sits nicely at 0.69. Another few outings like this, and well, the Vibes' staff needs a lot of help. Belzer was relieved by Pablo Garabitos, the converted outfielder. Despite being drafted last year and playing a half season in the outfield, Garabitos doesn't turn 19 until the end of July. He's actually younger than 2019 17th rounder Kelvin Bender, a fellow prep lefty. Garabitos has been pitching well, too, and allowed no runs in 1 2/3 inning, striking out 3. Eddy Tavarez had an unfortunate 9th inning, which we'll show in the game log below. Teenage outfielders Arbert Cipion and Terence Doston had two hits apiece, but that was literally all the offense the team could muster. No walks drawn, no pitches leaned into. Cipion raised is batting average to .297, but has struck out >50% of the time, so clearly he's still a work in process. AZL Brewers Blue Game Log Welp: AZL Rangers Top of the 9th Yenci Pena strikes out swinging. Leuri Mejia walks. Keyber Rodriguez flies out to right fielder Anderson Melendez. Keithron Moss walks. Leuri Mejia scores. Keithron Moss to 2nd. Throwing error by pitcher Eddy Tavarez. Fernando Valdez grounds out, pitcher Eddy Tavarez to first baseman YongKang Kou.
  17. Final: AZL Angels 3, AZL Brewers Gold 2 AZL Brewers Gold Box Score The Gold pitching staff held the Angels to three hits, but the offense manages only three as well and couldn't push an earned run across and fell 3-2 to the Angels. The hits came from Felix Valerio (2-4) and Ashton McGee (1-4, 2B). Peyton Long made his first career start and pitched well, allowing a run on two hits and a walk over 5 innings, striking out three. AZL Brewers Gold Game Log Taking the lead in the 4th on what feels like should have been a bigger inning: AZL Brewers Gold Bottom of the 4th Jesus Chirinos reaches on a throwing error by shortstop Jose Guzman. Ashton McGee reaches on a fielding error by second baseman Julio De La Cruz. Jesus Chirinos to 2nd. Mound Visit. Aaron Familia walks. Jesus Chirinos to 3rd. Ashton McGee to 2nd. Mound Visit. Victor Maria strikes out swinging. Juan Martinez pops out to second baseman Julio De La Cruz. Mound Visit. Felix Valerio singles on a ground ball to center fielder Jose Reyes. Jesus Chirinos scores. Ashton McGee scores. Aaron Familia to 3rd. Felix Valerio to 2nd. Throwing error by center fielder Jose Reyes. Odrick Pitre walks. Pitching Change: Seth Ballew replaces Kelvin Caceres. Oswel Leones flies out to left fielder William Rivera in foul territory.
  18. Final: AZL Padres1 8, AZL Brewers Blue 2 AZL Brewers Blue Box Score A day after getting on base 24 times, the Blues managed two runs on merely five singles, a walk, and a HBP on Wednesday, and control problems from the pitching staff lead to eight Padres runs. Anderson Melendez and Orveo Saint accounted for 4 of the five hits. No Blue pitcher has more strike outs than walks. AZL Brewers Blue Game Log Kevin Hardin replaced defensively mid-inning in the 2nd, so we'll monitor his status: AZL Padres 1 Bottom of the 2nd Brandon Valenzuela reaches on a missed catch error by first baseman Kevin Hardin, assist to shortstop Jackie Urbaez. Wild pitch by pitcher Moises Ruiz. Brandon Valenzuela to 2nd. Wild pitch by pitcher Moises Ruiz. Brandon Valenzuela to 3rd. Joshua Mears walks. Victor Nova singles on a ground ball to right fielder Anderson Melendez. Brandon Valenzuela scores. Victor Nova out at 2nd on the throw, right fielder Anderson Melendez to second baseman Orveo Saint. Joshua Mears to 3rd. Defensive Substitution: YongKang Kou replaces first baseman Kevin Hardin, batting 4th, playing first base. Tyler Malone walks. Luis Paez grounds into a double play, shortstop Jackie Urbaez to second baseman Orveo Saint to first baseman YongKang Kou. Tyler Malone out at 2nd. Luis Paez out at 1st.
  19. Holt's bonus is robably going to be around $250k over the slot. If the Brewers sign any of Myles (20), Rustad (23), or Torres (24), and signing at least one of them seems likely, any of those high schoolers will get overslot bonuses.
  20. Final: DSL Red Sox2 16, DSL Brewers/Indians 1 DSL Brewers/Indians Box Score This was the second 15 run loss in three days for the co-op team, in what is turning into another ugly season. Alberis Ferrer, who quietly had a very nice 2018, has had trouble staying on the field this year but was on base three times with a single and two walks. Angel Bautista and Bryan Nino both singled and walked. Ronnald Rojas pitched one inning and allowed 5 runs; Francis Casado sort of redeemed the Brewers pitching contingent by allowing one run over two innings. DSL Brewers/Indians Game Log "Four grand slammies and we're right back in this thing!": DSL Indians/Brewers Bottom of the 9th Gregori Custodio remains in the game as the designated hitter. Junior Sanquintin singles on a ground ball to right fielder Jesus Maita. Francisco Gonzalez pops out to shortstop Angeudis Santos. Passed ball by catcher Jose Navas. Junior Sanquintin to 2nd. Angel Bautista walks. Alberis Ferrer walks. Junior Sanquintin to 3rd. Angel Bautista to 2nd. Bryan Nino hit by pitch. Junior Sanquintin scores. Angel Bautista to 3rd. Alberis Ferrer to 2nd. Eduin Lugo pops out to second baseman Denny Daza. Bryan Dimas strikes out swinging.
  21. Final: DSL Brewers 7, DSL D-Backs2 6 DSL Brewers Box Score Walkoff! A hot Erys Bautista launched a home run to lead off the bottom of the ninth, capping a three-hit afternoon and sent the DSL Crew to victory. Despite a meager .205 batting average, the switch-hitting Bautista is hitting .308 in his last ten games and has home runs in two of his last three games. Here is BA's scouting report on Bautista from last year: Erys Bautista is a 17-year-old Dominican outfielder who trained in the same program as Fernandez and signed for $500,000 on July 2. He's 6 feet, 240 pounds, built like Mets' first baseman Dominic Smith, with all of his value tied into what he does at the plate. He's a switch-hitter with advanced power from both sides, and while he can get pull-conscious at times, he's not a free-swinger, showing some feel for translating that power in games. With below-average speed and arm strength, Bautista has enough mobility for now to play left field, but he might end up at first base. Speaking of slow starts, Sebastian Burciaga started his pro career 0-19 but has hit .361 since then, including three hits in 5 ABs on Wednesday. Despite a compact 5'7 frame, the 17-year-old Mexican has shown the ability to get balls into gaps (3 doubles and a triple), steal some bases (5 SB, no CS), and show bat-to-ball skill (only 2 Ks in 59 PA). Speaking of recent signees out of Mexico, Oscar Castaneda and Fernando Olguin combined to pitch an effective first seven innings, allowing 4 earned runs. Olguin was charged with one of the earned runs, which is his first allowed as a pro, spanning 13 innings. Junior Montero finished the game out with 2 scoreless innings. DSL Brewers Game Log Walkoff! DSL Brewers Bottom of the 9th Pitching Change: Edinson Soto replaces Jose Bohorquez. Erys Bautista homers (2) on a fly ball to right center field.
  22. Final: AZL White Sox 6, AZL Brewers Gold 4 AZL Brewers Gold Box Score The Golds took an early 3-0 lead, but a pro debut gone south put them in a hole they weren't able to climb out of. Starter Max Lazar pitched three strong scoreless innings, after pitching two innings last time and one inning the time before that. Seems to be a trend, and hopefully, we see him back in Wisconsin soon. Relieving Lazar and making his pro debut was 17th rounder Kelvin Bender. Things will get better, but Bender allowed 5 earned runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while recording 5 outs, which was all the offense the White Sox needed. Joey Matulovich and Wuilder Rodriguez both pitched an inning, which for both was their first inning pitched of the year. I don't have any injury information on either, but it might be fair to say both are working back from something. The offense did manage 13 hits (including 3 triples) and drew 4 walks, but left 11 on base in a tight game. Francis Florentino, Ashton McGee, Aaron Familia, and Felix Valerio had 2 hits apiece. AZL Brewers Gold Game Log I don't care about anything else that happened, My Guy Joey Matulovich pitched: AZL White Sox Top of the 7th Pitching Change: Joey Matulovich replaces Yohandry Perez. James Beard strikes out swinging. Samil Polanco called out on strikes. Jose Rodriguez strikes out swinging.
  23. Final: AZL Brewers Blue 12, AZL Indians Red 0 AZL Brewers Blue Box Score A withering offensive attack combined with some fine pitching lead the Blues to their third, and best, win of the season. Blue batters found themselves on base 24 times, via 15 hits, 8 walks, and a HBP. The Indians' team also committed 6 errors. 15th rounder Cam Devanney and 17-year-old Luis Silva each had three hits while three other Blues had two hits. Devanney also stole two bases and we'll probably be seeing him in the Pioneer League before too long. The squad only managed two extra-base hits, doubles from Jackie Urbaez and Victor Vargas, but so many singles, walks, and errors were able to get the job done. Kevin Hardin has now hit safely in his first 6 games as a pro. On the mound, Alexis Ramirez bounced back from an icky first start. The 19-year-old hard thrower allowed no runs in 5 innings of work after allowing 8 runs in 3 innings his first time out. After Ramirez, Henry Medina and Jose Espiritu made scoreless stateside debuts, and Jeyner Baez turned in another impressive outing to close the game out. AZL Brewers Blue Game Log Three-run first inning was all the offense would need, but was not all the offense there was: AZL Brewers Blue Top of the 1st Arbert Cipion called out on strikes. Jackie Urbaez doubles (2) on a ground ball to left fielder Marlin Made. Cam Devanney singles on a ground ball to center fielder Jean Montero, deflected by pitcher Juan Zapata. Jackie Urbaez scores. Cam Devanney steals (3) 2nd base. Alex Hall walks. Kevin Hardin singles on a line drive to left fielder Marlin Made. Cam Devanney scores. Alex Hall to 2nd. Luis Silva singles on a ground ball to right fielder Cesar Idrogo. Alex Hall scores. Luis Silva out at 2nd on the throw, right fielder Cesar Idrogo to shortstop Jordan Brown. Kevin Hardin to 3rd. Anderson Melendez grounds out, shortstop Jordan Brown to first baseman Will Bartlett.
  24. Final: AZL Brewers Gold 4, AZL White Sox 1 AZL Brewers Gold Box Score The Golds recover from an ugly performance on Saturday to produce a crisp win on Sunday. Center fielder Francis Florentino lead the offense with three hits and three RBI, including his first career home run. 1B Aaron Familia added two more hits including a triple and the team's other RBI. Mario Perez bounced back from a rough initial pro appearance to allow only an unearned run in 4 innings of work. Anthony DiMeglio (pro debut), Zach Vennaro, and Jose Parra combined to allow no runs on 5 hits and 7 Ks to finish off the final 5 innings. AZL Brewers Gold Game Log The first time is the best: AZL Brewers Gold Top of the 4th Ashton McGee grounds out, pitcher Jeremiah Burke to first baseman Daniel Millwee. Aaron Familia triples (1) on a line drive to right fielder Josue Guerrero. Francis Florentino homers (1) on a fly ball to left field. Aaron Familia scores. Roberto Molina pops out to second baseman Harold Diaz. Victor Maria singles on a fly ball to right fielder Josue Guerrero. Daniel Castillo doubles (2) on a line drive to center fielder Misael Gonzalez. Victor Maria to 3rd. Felix Valerio flies out to right fielder Josue Guerrero.
