(Photo: Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score Sky Sox pitching failed on Thursday, giving up nine runs (seven earned) on seven hits and seven walks in a 9-7 lose to the Iowa Cubs. Josh Hader (4.2 IP, 4 hits, 3 BB, 5 K, 5 ER) was fine until giving up a grand slam in the 5th to Ian Happ. The Sky Sox would rally to take the lead in the 7th, but relievers Andrew Barbossa (0.1 IP, 1 hit, 2 BB, 1 ER), David Goforth (1.0 IP, 1 hit, 1 BB, 1 ER) and Andy Oliver (0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 ER) would give up a run in the bottom of the 7th, and then three more in the 8th. On the offensive side, the Sky Sox were lead by Garrett Cooper (3-4, 2B, HR, 3 RBI) and Ryan Cordell (2-5, 2B). Cooper is quietly having a nice season. The big right hander is hitting .329 with seven doubles, three HRs and 19 RBI. And he is hitting .400 on the road - so he’s not just been raking in the thin Colorado air.
