  1. David Weiser's www.starsboxscore.com Huntsville update: A TALE OF TWO ADAMSLargest Sunday crowd since May 26, 2002 and the first Sunday this season I've seen where the weather has been absolutely perfect --- no rain, no wind, no snow, nohow --- just beautiful cirrus crowds and a muggy 76° afternoon........ Most of them were brought in by the promise of a post-game Christian concert in front of the stadium by some band only an eclectic crowd like that would know........ The Stars' average attendance this year is now 3,338, a far better pace than last year (it would give them over 233,000), placing them 6th in average attendance. Everything was perfect, and so was Dan Meyer of the Greenville Braves, almost........ Meyer, now the best pitching prospect in the Braves organization since the Braves gave up on Bubba Nelson, now 0-5, 7.04 for the Class AAA - Louisville Bats (IL), was domineering, moving his pitches all around the plate, keeping everyone guessing......... Despite giving up just two hits in seven innings --- a leadoff double to the centerfield wall by Brad Nelson in the 2nd inning, and a single to center by Rickie Weeks in the 4th, Meyer pitched the minimum. He allowed only three other balls to the outfield....... The Stars couldn't take advantage of a leadoff single up the middle by Nelson in the 8th, or a one-out walk to Jason Belcher in the 9th, either, when the bullpen came in........ It was just bleak. The Stars now fall to 3rd place in the West, after Birmingham beat Mobile, 5-1. For those who are curious to know, the Diamond Jaxx' 10-game win streak was snapped by Montgomery, today, 10-3...... Weeks, Prince Fielder, and Tony Gwynn, Jr. combined to go 1-for-11....... Looking from the top of the trees, Gwynn is hitting .203 this month, but 6-for-20 in his last five games and Prince is mired in an 0-for-15 slump with three strikeouts....... Rickie is hitting .275 in May and 7-for-18 (.385) in his last 5 games. Tim Bausher did not pitch badly in his six innings of work, and was rather economical with his pitches, throwing 70 --- near his pitch limit of 75...... He struck out the side in the 3rd inning and fanned the last two hitters in the 5th....... Adam Stern scored in the 1st on the decision to go for a double-play instead. Who could foresee that being the deciding run, not that it would have mattered today, but it was Napoleon Calzado's perfectly placed bunt down third base, hit on an almost perfect line, hugging the dirt inside the edge of the grass, that moved Stern to third ........ In the 4th inning, Cory Aldridge hit a 2-0 Bausher pitch just clearing the Aquafina sign in right field -- the third row of billboards in right field, about 345 feet away from the plate...... As if Greenville needed more, the first three Greenville batters in the 9th singled off Brian Adams, who has not had a very good May....... All three runners scored, two of them after Reggie Rivard was brought in....... Adams has given up 10 earned runs in 14 innings of relief (6.43 ERA), giving up 20 hits this month. This is Greenville's one and only trip to Huntsville this year, so tomorrow will be the last time the Stars will see the GREENVILLE Braves, for next year, they'll be in Mississippi, and who knows what the hell they'll be called. Considering some of the goofy names infecting minor league baseball (Inland Empire 66ers? West Tenn Diamond Jaxx? Swing of the Quad Cities?), will they be the Cotton Capitol Braves? Or the South Central Delta Region Braves? Pearl Braves? I don't think so. My guess is that they won't be called the Jackson Braves either, but I could be wrong....... Mark Hauser, the voice of the Greenville Braves, is moving with the team to Mississippi and is in the process of finding a house there. That's good, because Mark is one of the finest, wittiest broadcasters in the league. Reminds me in some respects of former High Desert announcer Mike Lindskog....... Anyway, the last matchup will be Dennis Sarfate (1-34, 5.28) going against Dan Curtis (0-0, 3.06), both right-handers........ Greenville is now 3-15 on the road........ The Stars then travel to Hoover Met for their first look this season, since an exhibition game that preceded the season, at the Birmingham Barons. Jeff Housman and Chris Saenz will start the first two games of that series. At about 1 pm today, the Stars received information from Mike Adams' father, Orlando, that Mike got his call to the big leagues....... Congratulations to Mike! We'll be watching his progress, for sure, in Milwaukee....... Mike was an excellent reliever for the Stars, holding opposing hitters to a .208 average and saving 14 games last year to lead the bullpen. This year at Indianapolis, he was 2-0 with a 2.48 ERA, 33 strikeouts and just four walks in 29 innings....... Also congratulations to the beat writer for the Huntsville Times, who does such a superlative job keeping Stars fans informed. Mark McCarter got married and we'll miss his stories in the paper the next two weeks while he's on his honeymoon. On the other side, Greenville's hitting coach, Mel Roberts has prostate cancer, and will not be travelling with the team on the road, while he receives radiation treatments. His spot is being filled by Phillip Wellman, who was Chattanooga's manager last year.

  3. WOW! I just watched the game on Tivo - the greatest invention since the wheel Yeah, I was going to gloat about having this game on video tape (yes!) before I remembered just what kind of inroads TIVO technology has made just about everywhere but my house http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif . Regardless, this prized tape will go into my special collection (along with two recent Super Bowl's http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif -- hey, I'm a New Englander in all things but baseball), where I will dust it off occasionally and enjoy. At one point I think we all conceded that the A's made the right choice (Barry Zito, 9th overall, 1999) instead of Mr. Olympic Hero (10th overall). Care to revisit that one?
  4. Yeah, I may have over-reacted a bit on Jorge. 27 K in 27 IP -- that's a good thing. Only 24 hits allowed in 27 IP -- that's a good thing. So we need to look at 20 BB and 4 HBP in 27 IP. Can and will Jorge turn that part of his game around? Hopefully, yes. Seven starts to get to 27 IP -- that's been the frustrating thing to see. The high pitch counts in short stints are choking him -- I guess I just really want him to succeed as a starter, and not just have the ceiling of another four-letter initial, VDLS (Valerio de los Santos).

  6. Huntsville Site Game Summary: Another excellent start, another tough-luck loss. Stars right-hander Tim Bausher - possessing a curve ball dubbed "The Hammer" by pitching coach Fred Dabney - delivered six more strong innings, only to drop his fourth straight decision in the Stars' 6-0 loss to Greenville (11-26) on Sunday afternoon at Joe Davis Stadium. Huntsville (20-17) dropped to third place but remained 1 1/2 games out of first in the Southern League West. Bausher (1-4) equaled his season high with seven strikeouts in his longest stint of the season. He permitted just four hits and walked none but left trailing 2-0. Over Bausher's six frames, only two G-Braves runners reached scoring position. In the first, Napoleon Calzado's bunt-single followed Adam Stern's leadoff double, and Stern scored as Brent Butler grounded into a double play. Cory Aldridge homered in the fourth for Greenville's only other tally against Bausher. After Aldridge's blast, Bausher retired 10 of the last 12 batters he faced, fanning four. Greenville lefty Dan Meyer (3-1), the Atlanta Braves' top pitching prospect, notched his third win and faced the minimum 21 batters over seven shutout innings, his longest outing this year. Meyer surrendered just two hits, walked none and struck out eight, one off his season high. Meyer took charge early, striking out Rickie Weeks, Tony Gwynn, Jr. and Prince Fielder in a perfect first, and closed with a flourish, retiring the last 11 hitters he faced. Stars rightfielder Brad Nelson recorded two of the team's three hits, doubling in the second, then singling and stealing a base in the eighth. Weeks had a fourth-inning single, and pinch-hitter Jason Belcher's ninth-inning walk was Huntsville's only other baserunner. Stars right-hander Dennis Sarfate (1-3, 5.28) meets G-Braves righty Daniel Curtis (0-0, 3.06) in Monday's series finale. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
  7. Obviously this isn't your official Helena roster preview, but it kicks off our coverage of feature profiles from around the web on the 2004 team members. RHP Robbie Wooley was the Brewers sixth round pick in 2003, and the first pitcher drafted by the Brewers last year. Within this article, there is a subtle mention of a recent thread here at Brewerfan, which I've linked here: p082.ezboard.com/fbrewers...2113.topic Wooley sets his sights on Helena By BRYAN GASKINS Kokomo Tribune sportswriter The Milwaukee Brewers have told Robbie Wooley they love his potential. But the Brewers don't want to rush the former Taylor High School standout early in his professional career. Wooley has worked with the Brewers' extended spring training team in Phoenix for three months. He will leave June 10 for Helena, Mont., where he will join the Helena Brewers team that competes in the Pioneer Rookie League. "I totally understand it," Wooley said of the Brewers' decision to bring him along slowly. "Right now, I am just concentrating on learning all I can from my coaches and the other pitchers out here." Wooley, 19, said the Brewers are giving older pitchers the first cracks at promotions to their Class A team in Beloit, Wis. The Brewers are playing it safe with their younger pitchers by keeping their pitch counts down. Wooley is taking advantage of his time in extended spring training to work on all areas of his game. He credits pitching coach Mark Littell for helping him become a more effective pitcher. Littell pitched in the bigs for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Royals from 1973-82. "He has taught me a totally different standpoint when it comes to pitching," Wooley said, noting Littell knows his stuff. "Now I am using the good qualities of my arm instead of anything bad that might lead to elbow surgery. So many young pitchers have elbow surgery, it's almost ridiculous. He is really helping me out. I know I am in good hands." Wooley said the Brewers keep all their pitchers on a regular schedule. After pitching in a game or a simulated game, a pitcher will take part in a workout that focuses on his rotator cuff. The following day, he will participate in conditioning and a workout that focuses on his lower body. The following day, he will throw batting practice or in the bullpen. Finally, he will have the next two days off before returning to the mound. Wooley said given the choice between batting practice and the bullpen, he prefers batting practice. "I've been going the b.p. route, which requires just taking the ball and throwing it to the hitters. I don't go through the mechanics," he said. "You get about 25 to 35 pitches when you throw b.p.; in the bullpen, you get about 45. Basically, you're just throwing fastballs and changeups, and it saves your arm so much. A lot of guys don't like b.p. for some reason, I guess because they don't get a chance to throw a curveball. But I am confident in my curveball, so I don't need to throw it too much." Wooley, who last pitched in a game situation Thursday against a Chicago Cubs team, said he likes the Brewers' pitching schedule. "My dad [Ted] said a lot of people have been complaining on the Internet that the kids out here are throwing too much. That is not the case at all," he said. "In fact, a lot of kids feel like we're not throwing enough. But everyone is maintaining a good speed out here, and everyone is healthy out here. "They have a very good program out here -- I am really proud to be with the Brewers." Wooley said he likely will stay with a host family in Helena. The Brewers open June 18 at Billings, Mont. 8. Final: Lake Elsinore (Padres) 7, High Desert 6 Mavericks fought to the end, but fell short; Jeff Eure left in mid at-bat in the 9th after injuring his left wrist.. High Desert Site Game Summary: The High Desert Mavericks saw a fast start go by the wayside, as Lake Elsinore Storm shortstop Luiz Cruz drove home the tying and eventual go-ahead runs in a Mavericks 7-6 loss to the Storm before 2,009 at Mavericks Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Mavericks, after jumping out to a four-run lead early, were held to just a run on five hits after the third inning and were outscored 4-1 for the deciding runs. High Desert led 5-3 in the fourth but Joseph Lima drew Lake Elsinore within one on an RBI double, while Cruz followed two batters later by tying the game on an RBI single up the middle. High Desert surrendered the go-ahead runs in the sixth, when Luke Carlin scored on a Glenn Woolard wild pitch and Cruz lifted an RBI sacrifice fly to left which scored the eventual winning run. The Mavs threatened with a run in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Ozzie Chavez. High Desert threatened again by putting the tying run on second in the eighth and ninth, but were stymied by relievers Mike Bumstead and Dale Thayer, when Bumstead retired Scott Candelaria on a flyout in the eighth and Thayer forced Jeremy Frost into a groundout to short to end the game. The Mavs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Candelaria drilled his first homer of the year, a one-out blast down the left field line off Storm starter Chris Tierney. High Desert hiked the lead to 4-0 in the second, sending eight hitters to the plate. Mario Mendez began the fray with a two-run double down the right field line, followed by a Chavez RBI single. Lake Elsinore retaliated with three runs in their half of the third to make it a one-run game, on a bases-loaded walk issued to Paul McAnulty, an RBI-fielder?s choice by Josh Carter, and an RBI single by Michael Johnson. John Vanden Berg gave the Mavs more breathing room with his third homer of the year in the third, a solo shot to put High Desert up 5-3. Tierney (1-0) got the win in his first appearance with Lake Elsinore, while Woolard (1-2) suffered the loss for High Desert, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits in six innings. Dale Thayer collected his second save on the season by pitching a scoreless ninth. The Mavs, after a day off on Monday, resume their six-game homestand on Tuesday when they host the Inland Empire 66ers, with the first pitch on 7:05 pm Tuesday night. Eric Henderson (1-3) will take the mound for High Desert against the Sixers? T.A. Fulmer (3-2). 9. Beloit Game Summary from the Burlington Site: Burlington, IA ? In front of a Community Basket Day record crowd of 3,194, the Beloit Snappers (19?18) jumped out early and held on to beat the Burlington Bees (13?24) 4?3 at Community Field this afternoon. The Bees have now lost four in a row, one short of the team's longest losing streak of the season. Bees' starter Ambiorix Burgos (0?4) gave up all four runs in the top of the first inning. Burgos allowed a leadoff walk to Guilder Rodrgiuez who stole second. After a strikeout, Drew Anderson singled and Lou Palmisano drove a ground rule double that bounced over the wall in right?center to drive in the first run. Vinny Rottino followed with a triple to deep right?center that brought in two runs and Rottino scored the final run on a single by Robby Deevers. Manuel Ramirez lined into a double play to end the inning and Burgos didn't allow another run through five innings of work. He finished with six strikeouts and allowed seven hits and three walks. Kahi Kaanoi pitched the final four innings in relief and allowed five hits, but no runs and struck out two. Ambiorix and Kahi? I liked the two "Dusty's" who pitched for Burlington Saturday -- MassBrew. Snappers' starter Ken Durost (2?3) struck out a season?high eight and limited the Bees to just two hits through five innings. Tim Dillard took over in the sixth and pitched two scoreless innings, but the Bees finally broke through in the eighth. Kenard Springer, Angel Sanchez, and Mitch Maier all singled to load the bases with no outs. Brandon Powell followed with a bouncer to the mound and the Snappers got a force at the plate for the first out. Walter Sevilla then lined one off of Dillard on the mound for an RBI single and knocked Dillard out of the game. Ty Taubenheim took over and struck out Bryan Graham, but on an 0?2 pitch, Luis Gonzalez singled to left to drive in two and pull the Bees to within one at 4?3. Kila Kaaihue flew out to end the inning and then Taubenheim struck out the side in the ninth to complete his fourth save. No word on whether Dillard left because of injury there -- MB The Bees and Snappers continue this series tomorrow night at 7:00 at Community Field. RH Robbie McClellan (1?0, 0.00) will make his first start for the Bees against RH Luis Pena (3?0, 3.56) for the Snappers.
  10. Indianapolis Game Summary: Starter Carlos Pulido (1-2) and closer Jesse Crain combined to four-hit the Indians as the Rochester Red Wings defeated Indianapolis, 4-1. Crain picked up his seventh save of the year, his second of the series. Rochester improves to 19-16, Indianapolis falls to 19-15. The Red Wings win the four-game series, 3-1. Indianapolis scored first to open the game. Ryan Knox reached base on a two-base throwing error, then scored on Jeff Liefer?s single for the Tribe?s only run of the game. Rochester scored three in their first plate appearance off Jorge De La Rosa (1-3), scoring what would be enough runs to secure the victory. The key hit was a two-run homer from Michael Restovich who hit a De La Rosa changeup out of the park. QUOTES: Michael Restovich, Rochester outfield on homer off De La Rosa: "I wasn?t sitting on a change," said Restovich. "I knew that he was comfortable with that pitch and he?d throw it any time in the count. I just told myself to stay back." Cecil Cooper, Indians' manager on the loss: "We lost an ugly game today in which we played without any kind of tempo," said Cooper. "When you don?t hit, it makes for a bad game. We didn?t deserve to win today. When you don?t hit and don?t catch, you?re going to lose. We just need to play better." NOTES: Indianapolis begins an eight-game homestand Monday, hosting the Columbus Clippers. Bucky Dent?s Clippers have won six straight games and now stand just one game behind the Tribe, a position the opposition has not been in since April 15. Monday?s probables are Indianapolis RHP Travis Phelps (2-1, 5.73) vs. Columbus LHP Andy Beal (2-0, 5.19).
  11. Indianapolis Press Release: Indianapolis reliever Mike Adams has been recalled by Milwaukee and will join the Brewers in Puerto Rico. He takes the place of Ben Ford who has been placed on the disabled list. (Adams' promotion can be discussed on the Major League forum - MassBrew) RH reliever Roberto Giron has been promoted from Double-A Huntsville and will join the Tribe in Indianapolis on Monday for the upcoming series with the Clippers.

  15. The Brewers have signed LH reliever Homero Rivera as a free agent. He's a minor league vet, and will be 27 years old in August. He was 13-4 last year in AA Erie (Tigers), but that was in a middle relief / set-up role, so he must have been lucky with some vulture win situations. He was released by the Padres recently after pitching (not well) with AA Mobile. Didn't check back to see if he faced Huntsville earlier. Career BB numbers are good, not a strikeout pitcher. Nothing else jumps out at you numbers-wise. LHP Homero Rivera Career Numbers (through 2003): www.sports-wired.com/play...?Name=GHFJ 2004 numbers with AA Mobile: www.baseballamerica.com/c...vera%2C+ho No additional roster move was necessary; the Mavs' active roster is at 25.
  16. He's had a few shining moments thus far No, not really -- he's had one start you'd call good. That's hideous today. JDLR is the biggest disappointment in the organization thus far this season, easily. I'd love to hear Indy pitching coach Stan Kyles talk about this guy. There sure was a lack of enthusiasm about him in Reid Nichols' voice during the interview with Jim Powell. Big time UGH.

  21. David Weiser's www.starsboxscore.com Huntsville update: DL LIST GROWSDark clouds moved over the ballpark at about 15 minutes past six, dumping a pretty nice shower on the tarp-covered field, delaying the game by 19 minutes, but there were no dark clouds for the Stars tonight, as they go to 19-16 on the season....... Unfortunately, the Diamond Jaxx are on an unrelenting 10-game win streak after tonight, so the Stars remain 1½ games behind, and powerless this half to darken their skies. Ryan Costello, in his third and finest start, cruised through six innings, scattering three hits, and getting some eye-catching defensive plays I haven't seen much of this year at the Joe....... With two out and Bill McCarthy on 2nd base, thanks to a wild pitch, Tony Pena, Jr. hit a hard high-hopper to the left side. Chris Barnwell, running in on the infield grass, caught the ball on the short hop, then twisted his body and made the throw on a bee-line to first to end the 2nd inning....... In the 4th, Tony Gwynn, Jr. made the finest play I've ever seen from him as Dave Krynzel's replacement in center, and he looked like Krynzel as he made a diving catch of a dying short liner, coming across and sliding on his belly in left-center field to retire leadoff hitter Brent Butler.......Other than Costello's wild pitch that sent McCarthy to second, the only other runner to reach 2nd was Pena, Jr., when he doubled to the base of the left field wall in the 9th with two out......... Costello threw 80 pitches, 54 for strikes, (68%), getting a quick 1-2-3 with six pitches in the 4th. Two of Matt Merricks' four walks resulted in a run....... Jason Belcher led off with a walk on a 3-2 pitch, and scored in the 2nd on Kade Johnson's triple off the top of the wall in center field. That snapped a 2-for-31 slump for Kade, but he grounded to second and fouled out to Jean Boscan in the 6th....... After two ground outs in the 5th, Rickie Weeks walked on five pitches, reached second on Merricks' errant pickoff throw, then scored on a double to right-center by Gwynn, Jr......... Brad Nelson added a huge home run to left to make it 3-0 in the 6th inning, bringing him within one of club leader Prince Fielder, whose slump now stretches to 0-for-12. Rickie Weeks was hit for the 15th time this season, on the inside part of the leg making him do an embarrassing little dance....... Weeks threw the bat in disgust, walked toward first, and though it looked like he stole 2nd on a 2-and-0 count to Gwynn, it was scored a wild pitch charged to Merricks.......... By my count, that's five times leading off a ballgame with an HBP....... The season record for a Huntsville Star is 19 by Ramon Hernandez in 1998. His present total is the 3rd highest by a Stars player in a full season, and we're not even out of the month of May. Ahead of Rickie are Toby Kominek, who was hit 18 times in 1999, and Hernandez........ He's been hit 11 times in the month of May alone. Tomorrow at 2:05 CDT, Tim Bausher will take on lefty Dan Meyer, who has held right-handed hitters to a .195 average this season. Meyer ranks 4th among the Braves' top minor league prospects, and 2nd among pitchers. He throws a low-90s fastball with wicked movement and very good slider and has tough-as-nails command which righties find so hard to handle. His strikeout-walk ratio breaks the law --- 235 Ks and 50 walks in 226 innings....... Bausher has perhaps a 75-pitch limit, as opposed to the 85 or 90 the rest of the staff has because the Brewers see his future role as a closer. Uncertain about Matt Ford's future, the Stars have put him on the disabled list. The Brewers sent lefty Peter Zamora to Huntsville, who arrived about 4:45 Saturday. He'll be wearing uniform #49....... He was doing some warmups just before game time........ Most likely, he'll join the pen, after all, he hasn't started a game since 2001 when he was with Class AAA - Scranton (IL)....... Zamora pitched just one game this year for Class AA-Trenton (Eastern) and was crushed in one inning of work. He was originally signed by the Dodgers in 1997, then became a Rule V pick of the Phillies in 1999. Since then, he's been through the Mets, Phillies, Angels, and Yankees farm systems. He spent 2001-03 in Class AAA, where he was 13-9, mostly as a reliever, saving 15 games for Scranton in 2002.
  22. Huntsville Times Notes: Second baseman Rickie Weeks is second in the Southern League in on-base percentage, reaching base on 43 percent of his plate appearances (.432). But he's doing it in a somewhat unique way. While he's hitting only .288, Weeks has been hit by pitches a league-leading 15 times this year. His total is equal to or higher than six teams' totals in the league. Weeks accounts for more than half of the Stars' team total of 27. First baseman Prince Fielder, son of the former major league slugger Cecil Fielder, will no doubt play in the major leagues in the not-too-distant future. And even though he celebrated just his 20th birthday last week, Fielder has demonstrated a maturity that belies his age. After Friday's 5-4 win over Greenville, Fielder told manager Frank Kremblas that he was disappointed in his at-bat in the eighth inning when his weak ground ball to first scored a run but was much less than a potential game-tying two-run homer. But the Stars rallied for two runs in the ninth for the win. "I told him that sometimes a crappy at-bat can help you win a game," Kremblas said. ... Maybe pitcher Chris Saenz could fill in as a pinch-hitter between starts. After going 2-for-2 with a double Friday, Saenz is 4-for-11 on the season (.364), including a home run. ... Shortstop Enrique Cruz didn't start four straight games last week while the coaching staff adjusted his stance at the plate. The payoff, however, is yet to come. Cruz is 1-for-9 since returning to the starting lineup on Thursday. ... Matt Ford, the Stars' opening night pitcher, was placed on the disabled list Saturday. The Brewers signed Pete Zamora and assigned him to the Stars as Ford's replacement....Greenville is coming off a 4-0 home sweep of Jacksonville, but is only 2-16 on the road this season. Joe Davis Stadium had the beginnings of a major improvement installed last week. You just can't see it yet. The control room for the new state-of-the-art scoreboard was put in place Tuesday in the press box. It's a collection of about a half-dozen monitors and other fancy hi-tech equipment that looks like a scaled-down NASA Mission Control. Stars general manager Bryan Dingo said it will take three people to operate the control room as well as three people in the stands operating video cameras. The new scoreboard, highlighted by a video screen, is scheduled to be unveiled May 28 against Mobile. Around the league Montgomery's B.J. Upton, rated the top prospect in the minor leagues by Baseball America, was promoted to Triple-A Durham last week. Upton is fifth in the league in hitting with a .327 average. But the promotion was somewhat disappointing because Biscuits manager Charlie Montoya had told Upton that he was joining the big league Tampa Bay Devil Rays before team officials had a change of heart. Upton homered in his second game with Durham on Friday. ... Paul Byrd, a former major league all-star who is yet to pitch for the Atlanta Braves since being acquired before last season, is in Huntsville this weekend with the Greenville Braves on a rehab assignment. Byrd joined the G-Braves on Thursday and got the win despite allowing five runs on six hits in five innings. He's not scheduled to pitch again until Greenville returns home Tuesday against Montgomery.
