Hey Mass, I'm not sure when they post them, but I did find yesterday's game notes on the website shortly after the game started. Thanks, deeswan -- found them within the PressBox section; nice work, Indy management. -

Why they're not playing in Helena just yet: Helena could see several inches of snow the next few days, with bouts of rain and wind. Areas of Montana could receive up to 18 inches of snow. The storm is likely to produce two inches of water, putting the smallest of dents in the ongoing drought - but a dent nonetheless. -

David Weiser's www.starsboxscore.com Huntsville update: DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU SEEBrandon Gemoll had one of his biggest days in a Huntsville Stars uniform in Mobile, Monday, when he doubled, hit a grand-slam HR, and drove in five runs (not three as you see in the box score on sportsnetwork.com) to lead the Stars to an 8-5 victory over Mobile....... Gemoll's opposite-field blast on a 2-2 pitch hit the top of the wall in left-center, similar in that respect to one Prince Fielder hit at Joe Davis Stadium this year, and bounced over....... The stage was set when Tony Gwynn, Jr. drew a one-out walk, followed by a Fielder single lined into centerfield, and a walk to Brad Nelson....... I don't know how The Sports Network gets two RBI out of that, but it needs correcting........ It was Gemoll's 2nd grand-slam as a Star and the first by a Huntsville Star thsi season. Gemoll hit a grand-salami off the Diamond Jaxx's T.P. Waligora on May 24 of last year....... It was the 8th straight game that the Stars took the initial lead in a ballgame, yet the Stars have won just half of them....... But Huntsville was able to take advantage of a Mobile pitching staff that has been shaky lately....... The loss to Mobile put the Diamond Jaxx in first place in a tight four-team race. Ryan Costello had a shaky first, leaving the bases loaded when Ben Johnson hit into a force, and was knocked out in the 5th inning, after giving up a two-run HR to Josh Carter in the 4th, and singles to Josh Barfield and Greg Sain in the bottom of the 5th......... Reggie Rivard, pitching in his first game since May 1, Brian Adams, and Roberto Giron came in to freeze Mobile, giving up just two hits in the Bay Bears' remaining five innings. Prince Fielder's two-out RBI singled to score Johnny Raburn, who led off the inning reaching first when his high-hopper hit off shortstop Jason Clements' glove, the first of three errors for him ....... The Stars put a lock on the game after Rickie Weeks reached on an error to start the ninth. Tony Gwynn, Jr. walked and Fielder?s single plated Weeks and sent Gwynn to third. With the infield curiously playing back, Gwynn trotted home as Brad Nelson grounded into a double play to close the scoring. Chris Barnwell, 5-for-8 in his last two games, climbed over the Mendoza line for the first time this season. Huntsville sends righty Tim Bausher (1-3, 2.61) against Bears right-hander Chris Rojas (2-2, 4.03) in game two of the four-game series on Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Game time is 7:05 p.m. -

Final: Inland Empire (Mariners) 11, High Desert 1 66ers Site Game Summary: There's no place like home for the Inland Empire 66ers. After finishing a 13-game road trip on a three-game losing streak (8-5 overall on the trip), the 66ers returned home and back to their winning ways. Inland Empire (20-12) breezed by the High Desert Mavericks (13-19) last night 11-3 before 991 fans at Arrowhead Credit Union Park, giving the 66ers their tenth win in twelve games at home this season. Inland Empire's Pichi Balet was the star for the 66ers as he drove in five of the eleven runs, a new career high for the designated hitter. The four RBI now gives Balet 10 this season and the four hits climbed his batting average from .288 to .320. With the score tied at one, the 66ers scored four runs in the top of the third inning highlighted by a Balet two-RBI double. Inland Empire never looked back. Thanks to yet another strong pitching performance by left-hander, Bobby Livingston. While Livingston surrendered his first run of the season at Arrowhead Credit Union Park, snapping the streak of 27.1 innings, the tall lefty continued his dominance this season. Livingston punched out eight Maverick hitters in his six innings of work, a new season high for the 66ers ace, who has a perfect 5-0 record with a microscopic 1.33 ERA. With the win, the 66ers moved their record to 20-12, best in the California League and into a virtual tie in the Southern Division with Lancaster (19-11). Inland Empire looks to continue its winnings ways at home tomorrow as they throw 18-year old phenom Felix Hernandez (3-1, 2.56 ERA) against High Desert's Bo Hall (2-3, 7.96 ERA). Huntsville Site Game Summary: Like a writer married to a tired formula, Huntsville was stuck in a troubling pattern. Over four days in Jacksonville, the Stars blew leads in all four games, losing three of them. On Monday in Mobile, Huntsville saw 5-0 and 6-3 leads nearly evaporate. Buoyed by a rejuvenated bullpen and an opportunistic ninth-inning rally, the Stars (16-15) bucked the trend and hung on for an 8-5 win over the Bay Bears (16-15) at Hank Aaron Stadium. Huntsville pulled within one-half game of first in the Southern League West. Brandon Gemoll opened the game with an emphatic blow, an opposite-field, first-inning grand slam, Huntsville?s first this season and Gemoll?s second as a Star. After Prince Fielder?s run-scoring, second-inning single, it was 5-0 Huntsville. Following the Bears? three-run fourth, Gemoll delivered an RBI-double in the fifth for a 6-3 advantage. Mobile scored twice more in the fifth to pull within 6-5. The Stars? bullpen, fortified by the return of Reggie Rivard from a sore right knee, delivered five scoreless innings. Rivard tossed two shutout frames, Brian Adams retired six straight batters and Roberto Giron recorded his sixth save in seven tries, giving up one hit while fanning two in a scoreless ninth. The game-sealing rally came after Rickie Weeks reached on an error to start the ninth. Tony Gwynn, Jr. walked and Fielder?s single plated Weeks and sent Gwynn to third. With the infield curiously playing back, Gwynn trotted home as Brad Nelson grounded into a double play to close the scoring. Rivard (3-0) notched his third win, permitting one hit and one walk with one strikeout over the fifth and sixth. Brian Whitaker (0-1) suffered the loss, surrendering six hits and five runs, four earned, with three walks and two strikeouts. Huntsville sends righty Tim Bausher (1-3, 2.61) against Bears right-hander Chris Rojas (2-2, 4.03) in game two of the four-game series on Tuesday night at Hank Aaron Stadium. Game time is 7:05 p.m. -

Then, at the trading deadline in 2002, the Brewers were unable to give Hernandez away for a prospect BJK, it's now known that Dean Taylor had a deal in place with Cincinati for a young RHP named Jose Acevedo, who looks promising in the Reds' rotation. When Wendy learned she'd have to eat a good portion of Jose K's contract for the remainder of the miserable 2002 summer, the deal was nixed. I'd trade Bill Hall for Jose Acevedo now, too... -

Final: Indianapolis 2, Ottawa (Orioles) 1 Indianapolis Game Summary: My thanks to Tribe management -- ever since we mentioned the wasteland that is Indy newspaper coverage, the team post-game press releases have picked up the slack. No about getting the pre-game notes back on the Indy web site... Indianapolis defeats Ottawa Monday night, 2-1, behind the timely hitting of Scott Sheldon. Sheldon blasted his second homer of the season in the seventh inning off Lynx starter John Maine (0-1) for the game winning hit. Indianapolis starter Travis Phelps (2-1) earns the win, throwing six scoreless innings. He gave up four hits, walked one and struck out three. Jason Childers picks up his league-leading ninth save, stranding Tim Raines, Jr. at third base to end the game. Ottawa?s Jose Leon hit a solo homer off reliever Matt Childers in the eighth inning, accounting for the home club?s lone run. The Indians are now 18-11, Ottawa falls to 13-19. Indianapolis is 15-0 when leading after eight innings, 8-3 in one-run games and 10-4 on the road. I knew we were going to win that game.? Phelps on his pitching performance: ?I went out and tried to be aggressive early,? said Phelps. ?I located the ball better than in previous starts. I made the pitches I needed to make tonight. Our defense made plays tonight and when that happens , you feel confident to put the ball in play.? NOTES: The Tribe turned over four double plays in the first five innings Monday evening, which marks the team?s season high. Steve Scarborough extended his hitting streak to five games. Outfielder Corey Hart will be available to play tomorrow after encountering passport problems. Shortstop J.J. Hardy, who left Sunday?s game early, was diagnosed with a sublixation of his left shoulder and will be evaluated by doctors in Milwaukee. Consider this from Ottawa and I'm not sure the Brewer affiliates will see a better combined group of opposing starters on one night all season -- let's see what the Brewer bats have to say about this tonight... Ottawa Lynx Top Pitching Prospect John Maine will make his first appearance in Ottawa this evening when the Lynx take on the Indianapolis Indians at 6:05 pm. Maine, 22, has been dominant at every level of the Minor Leagues, and was names the Baltimore Orioles # 2 Top Prospect by Baseball America this year. Maine made his Triple-A debut last Tuesday in Pawtucket, giving up only two runs over 5.0 innings of work, while picking up a no-decision in a Lynx 5-3 extra inning victory. A few other pertinent facts: Maine pitched in five games for Double-A Bowie, going 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA. In 28.0 innings pitched, he struck out 34 while holding opponents to a .160 batting average. Maine was named the 2003 Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Year after he combined to go 13-4 with a 2.27 ERA in 26 games between Single-A Delmarva and Frederick. He began the year at Delmarva, going 7-3 with a 1.53 ERA before being promoted to Fredrick, where he went 6-1 with a 3.07 ERA. Maine struck out 185 batters and walked only 38 while allowing just 91 hits, as opponents batted .177 off him. Maine was the Orioles? 6th round selection in the 2002 draft. -

Daily Press High Desert Game Story: If you're looking for info, don't skip over this one. Updates on four injured Mavericks, all day-to-day. Plenty of quotes and discussion about bad blood between the teams. Apparently, the box score for this game is incorrect in that David Bradley did not start (see injury update), and Glenn Woolard did, going four innings and not one as the box score indicates. So not to self-promote any more than we normally do http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif , but great "nuggets" of info can be found within just about each and every link within the daily thread. Many might have figured, hey, 13-3 loss, that's one story I can skip, but if you're looking to get all you can on the farmhands, always dig into each and every crumb we toss out... And hey, it's not like any site related to the Brewers is actually keeping you the least bit informed on J.J. Hardy's Sunday mishap http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif ... David Weiser's www.starsboxscore.com Huntsville update: SUNS THROW BLOCKADE - 17 LOBI'm sure there was a lot to think about on the Interstate trip to Mobile........ 14 hits, five walks, and three hit batters all goes away if you win, but instead of a rout, which it should have been, the Stars go down in defeat by just one run........ Like I said, I'm sure that was a silent bus ride, and I couldn't imagine many worse ones. The only ones who look good in this are the pitchers, except for former Suns pitcher Fernando Rijo, who gave up the game-winning, one-out home run to Jason Repko........ Chris Saenz proved once more that he's the best pitcher on this team, and really too good to be pitching in Double-A, but given the fact that Fred Dabney's pitching staff has turned into a M*A*S*H* unit, Saenz will stay........ Saenz gave up just four hits in six innings and struck out eight. In 25 1/3 innings this season, he's struck out 33 and walked just two........ Paul Stewart, in a relief role he wasn't meant for, pitched two scoreless innings, and looks better than Saenz on paper, lowering his ERA to 3.18, and oh yes, his K-BB ratio to 33:4 in 28 1/3 innings........ In the 7th inning, Stew, the man who should write the book on poise (I'm beginning to think he likes pitching under pressure) got out of a jam, allowing runners in scoring position with one out, and then striking out Tony Socarras swinging on a 3-and-2 slider and Wilkin Ruan on a 2-2 fastball to get out of the inning unscathed. The Suns left three of the four runners they had stranded to that point, eventually leaving six. But the bad news and the mystery remains, why is such a talented team, one that looks as if it could generate plenty of runs, as many at least as the 1997 and 1985 teams, last in hitting with a .237 mark in the Southern League and 7th in runs scored, and why can't they take charge of this division....... The answers may be in this game......... The game started as it has on at least three other times I've remembered. Rickie Weeks gets hit on the left elbow with a pitch. That ignited a three-run rally, a comfortable lead I would have thought........ That's the 12th time in 14 games since April 23 that Weeks has been hit, to lead the league. He's well on pace to break the club record of 19 set by Ramon Hernandez in 1998........ One out later, Prince Fielder and Brad Nelson, batting .308 and .274 respectively, hit consecutive doubles, scoring a pair of runs. With two out, Chris Barnwell, who had a refreshing day at the plate, drove in Nelson with a single to center........ After Joel Alvarado singled to left, Johnny Raburn grounded out to end the inning......... Saenz had a 3-0 lead to work with. Saenz retired the entire Jacksonville lineup the first go-around, striking out four......... In the 4th, Wilkin Ruan broke up the three-inning perfecto. On a 3-1 pitch, Ruan hit a monster pop fly that must have left the atmosphere cause Weeks completely lost sight of it. He was on the edge of the outfield grass when it dropped on the dirt --- one of the shortest doubles you may ever see....... Ruan advanced to third on a dribbler back to Saenz, setting up a sacrifice fly by Reggie Abercrombie, who had ACL reconstructive elbow surgery after tearing it in the Fall League last year. Tony Gwynn, Jr. made the catch, but relayed to Prince Fielder. Had Dave Krynzel been out there, he most certainly would have made the throw home. I've seen it so many times last year. And whether he had a shot or not to get the speedy Ruan is conjecture, but I know he would have made the throw.......... Anyway, that made it 3-1. In the meantime, the Stars left runners on second and third in the 3rd inning when Alvarado hit into a double play....... In the 4th inning, Frank Kremblas put on the double steal successfully with Weeks and Johnny Raburn, sending them to second and third, but Fielder, who rarely fails in the clutch, hammered one to right-center, not far enough, sending Abercrombie to the track for the final out........ In the top of the 5th, Jason Belcher and Barnwell hit back-to-back one out singles, but Alvarado flied out into a double play, when Jason Repko made a perfect throw to 2nd baseman Willie Aybar to double off Belcher........ Seven stranded through five innings.. Jacksonville tied the game up in the 5th inning when Brennan King's leadoff single to the right-centerfield alley, the first ball hit off Saenz with any authority, was followed by a one-out, two-run homer to left by Nelson Castro, the 3rd given up on the year by Saenz. The Stars let more chances slip away........In the top of the 6th, a pair of two-out singles by Weeks and Gwynn, but Fielder struck out on a 1-2 slider........ Fielder struck out three times in this game for the third time this season........ Derek Thompson, who threw 62 piches through four innings, leaves the game at this point, giving up 12 hits and hitting two batters........ In the 7th, the Stars put runners on 1st and 2nd with two out, but Raburn hit into a force when he hit a 2-and-0 pitch back to pitcher Jose Rojas........ In the 8th, Brandon Gemoll reached when Brennan King juggled his first pitch grounder. It was generously changed from an error to a hit. Gemoll is now 7-for-13 in his last five games, raising his average to .255....... Weeks was hit on the # 2 part of his # 25 jersey to move Gemoll over. ....... That presented a good opportunity for a sacrifice, but Gwynn, instead, swung away when he took a two-strike count. Fielder and Nelson then both struck out swinging........ Thirteen runners stranded through eight. Roberto Giron, another pitcher who likes to live dangerously, got out of a jam in the bottom of the 9th when he struck out Socarras and pinch-hitter Nick Alvarez with runners on first and second, sending this into extra innings The 10th was the Stars best chance to win this game since the 3-0 lead they took from the start........ The Suns had their 4th pitcher on the mound, Luis Gonzalez, unrelated to the other 10 million other Luis Gonzalez's in the universe, walked Gemoll to lead off the inning. One out later, he was on third after a single by Gwynn, who took 2nd on what is called defensive indifference, rather than a stolen base........ Fielder walked on a full count load the bases......... With the game on the line for Jacksonville, Brad Nelson, 5-for-17 in the series, struck out swinging on a 3-2 fastball. Right-hander Franquelis Osoria then came into the game to strike out Kade Johnson, leaving the bases loaded......... With one out in the bottom of the 10th, Jason Repko, 4-for-18 in the series to this point, homered to left to give the Suns their second straight walk-off victory in this series. Monday night, Ryan Costello will get the start for the Stars first trip to Mobile....... Right now, they lead Birmingham in the West by a half-game with the Stars in third, one game back, and for the first time in 14 games, the Stars have a streak going....... Unfortunately, it's the wrong one. Reggie Rivard will be able to pitch Monday or Tuesday........ John Novinsky will be ready at least by Wednesday, and Ryan Miller will most likely be back to pitch when the Stars get back into town vs. Greenville........ The Stars lead the Southern League in hit batters with 22, and are on pace to break not only the club record of 79 set in 1999, their first season as a Milwaukee affiliate, but the Southern League record as well, set by the 1999 Diamond Jaxx with 91....... Rickie Weeks is already 12th on the list among the hit batter leaders for a single season, and tied today Mike Kremblas's club-leading total of last season...... Jason Stokes hit his 9th home run, Sunday, vs. Greenville, tying him with Prince Fielder for the league HR lead. It was the 3rd consecutive game Stokes has hit one out....... According to General Manager Bryan Dingo, the target date on the new scoreboard is May 28, moved up from the first week of June by my last report......... During last week's afternoon games, crews were already drilling holes and doing other work in preparation for the scoreboard. Workers are scheduled to construct a control booth for the scoreboard this Tuesday. On May 24, they are scheduled to take down the existing scoreboard........ For two or three games, there will be an old-style manual scoreboard in place in left field........ Additionally, the bid for replacing many of the upper-level grandstand seats is expected to be awarded Thursday. -

Huntsville Site Game Summary: For the second straight night, the Stars suffered a disheartening loss. While Huntsville stranded 17 runners, Jacksonville (20-10) made the most of its chances. After the Suns rallied from 3-0 down, Jason Repko decided things, ripping a 10th-inning solo homer for Jacksonville?s second straight walk-off win, 4-3. Huntsville (15-15) fell one game back of Mobile in the Southern League West. A three-run first put the Stars in front, with Prince Fielder and Brad Nelson doubling in runs and Chris Barnwell singling in another. Jacksonville scored its first run after Rickie Weeks lost Wilkin Ruan?s fourth-inning pop fly in the sun, allowing Ruan to reach second with a double. After a groundout sent him to third, Ruan scored on Reggie Abercrombie?s sacrifice fly. In the fifth, Jessie Hoorelbeke singled and Nelson Castro tied the game with a two-run homer. In the top of the 10th, Huntsville loaded the bases with one out. Lefty Luis Gonzalez struck out Nelson, and righty Franquelis Osoria entered the game to face pinch-hitter Kade Johnson. Osoria struck out Johnson to strand the last three of the Stars? 17 runners left on base. With one out in the bottom of the 10th, Repko launched reliever Fernando Rijo?s 2-1 pitch over the leftfield wall for the game-winning homerun, Repko?s fourth homer this season. Osoria (1-2) notched his first win after retiring the only batter he faced, and Rijo suffered the loss, retiring one batter before Repko?s homerun in the 10th. Huntsville travels to Mobile to open a four-game series with the Bay Bears Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Stars lefty Ryan Costello (1-0, 0.00) meets Bears righty Brian Whitaker (0-0, 3.00). -
