  1. 82 team still my favorite team of all time.... But the ring doesn't ring true for giveaway item. Most in their 30s and younger have no idea what happened then, no connection to players, no clue....... meaningless ring no one will wear (except maybe me) Like the t-shirt variety; most other items look good too.
  2. Cubs- give the morons credit for...... Winning it all Having a dedicated core fan base who are passionate, travel well, are vocal, pay big bucks for tickets, etc. Cubs- morons get no credit for..... Historic underachieving Big market - INCOMPARABLE to small markets who can't buy players or overcome FA mistakes with money ( so impressed with KC run in 2014/2015) Obnoxious blowhards and braggart front runners---- Cardinal fans, Sox fans, Brewers fans know this fact Breaking the "curse".....no, no, they were just that much of a big market underachiever. The curse was an excuse that blowhards give.
  3. Best team won...... However, I don't need to hear Milwaukee media getting excited for this.
  4. So the brains in baseball say that OPS is one the best stats to decide player value? Yet, how do they explain Villar having .005 more in OPS than Carter, with Carter being a debatable non tender and Villar being a must keep Brewers 2016 MVP? Does position play into this? Is it because of defense and SB?
  5. I'm sold on the Falcons food prices. Replicate that at Brewers games, and I go from buying no food to eating a meal and snacks.
  6. If they want to show they cherish fans, maybe lower the prices on concessions. Agreed. How many families simply avoid the ultra high-priced concessions? Thousands.
  7. My guess was family hotel/new restaurant/upper deck bar..... Not excited at all... Now prices can go up even more. Great!
  8. That makes sense better to be learning how far you can push the envelope in a rebuilding year. It is not like the Brewers were going to lose anything with Villar and the number of times he was caught stealing. I also wouldn't be surprised if this is the same next year with the running being tuned down a little bit. Next year is going to be another rebuilding year so no big loss if he gets thrown out making some bad base path errors. Ok. Season's over. Villar improved..... Big time on the bases. Yes. Let's not try to keep excusing the earlier season play. He was sat. He was doing stupid stuff on the bases. He learned from it. Case closed. Let's not say oh, this was the plan. If it was, why was he sat? Being aggressive on the bases and being stupid on the bases are two different things.
  9. I agree.... I saw a Jsonline article that listed the p criteria as 50 appearances. http://archive.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/261832781.html Also, the article mentioned what you wrote..... Players are automatically added. That seems awfully weird to me. Just have enough PA and your in?
  10. Thinking about this for a while....a good offseason topic. it will be fun to cheer for them again down the road when they enter the Wall before a home game. Eligible candidates have to have 2000 PA, 50 appearances as a pitcher, winner of a major award, or manager of a pennant winner. I'd go with the following..... Braun Fielder Hart Gomez Lucroy Morgan (under current rules, I don't think he's eligible) Yo Greinke Axford Wolf Krod Roenicke Sveum Also, how isn't Sveum on yet? He was the manager of the 2008 playoff team, bench coach of 2011 team, has one of the biggest moments in Brewers history on Easter 1987, and has arguably better stats than Counsell, who for some reason is on already. If CC is on for his career stats/moments, ok. Yet wouldn't that open the door for many other Brewers who excelled other places/ways like a Sveum, Sundberg, Sheffield, Dave Parker, etc.?
  11. Losing isn't fun.
  12. Grossly inflated, indeed. I'm not greatly upset about it; it probably happens everywhere, sure. But when I hear gushing over how great the crowds have been at Miller Park this year- and I have been to several this year- the truth is that the numbers have much lower than announced..... this year especially.
  13. Can't believe there has eve been announced attendance LESS than how many actually were there..... There is no way that 2 million people saw games this year at Miller Park. Announced attendance for BP games is laughably higher than how many are in the stands. Many people got free BP Terrace tickets and didn't show. IMO, freeby no shows shouldn't count. Season ticket holder/plan no shows are different, in my mind, since money changed hands, I guess. This year I received freebies thru Arctic tailgate scratch offs, BP tickets, and group leader freebies (all great promos). However, I got some free BP tickets that I did use, yet those tickets are counted as people who attended a Brewers game. On average, actual people in seat attendance IMO was an avg of 4,000 to 7,000 less than announced, a difference probably larger than any season in Milker Park history. Bad PR if numbers are deemed Waaaaay lower, right?
  14. Do all teams give away tickets and count them as sold, regardless if they show?
  15. I think I won this one with 2.3 million..... AND with the note of 1.9 in actual attendance. The inclusion of BP ticket no shows and other free ticket handout no shows severely alter actual ATTENDance. The last two games I went to, there was in the ballpark of (pun intended) 15,000 fans.... Not the mid 20 thousand number announced. Borderline dishonest.
  16. I don't like how two tied playoff teams would play to determine the division winner. It should be based on head to head record.
  17. Throw some more doubt into Wrigleyville........ Brewers win! 3 of 4..... A sweep if we were trying ( TT in the 9th on Fri.)
  18. True, I guess, but the amount leaving early for a 7:10 start game is way more noticeable.
  19. That works both ways too. I come down from Appleton, and would much prefer earlier starts so I can get back home at a decent hour. True, lots of people can't leave work early, but lots can. I know from talking to a lot of people in the Valley, they hate going down for weekday games and getting home at midnight. Earlier start times really help with that. I would actually like to see them have 6:10 starts mixed in. Leave from here at 4:00, and still get there in time for the game. Also, 20 to 30% of the crowd leaves Miller Park early, around 9 to 10 (regardless of score). That is fairly usual, in my opinion. Isn't that a possible sign that games are stating a bit late?
  20. Yea, that's smart on their part. I've been saying for years it's not the length of games that's the biggest problem, it's end times during the week. I'm sure they're just testing it, but hopefully they move up Wed/Thurs games too- especially in April, May, Sept (school months.) I'm a huge fan of starting games earlier. Start the games at a decent hour.....around 6 to 6:30 during the week. Do it for every night game. Why not? Also, the different start times will prove to be somewhat confusing to Brewers fans. The question of....."What time is the game tonight?" is going to be quite common, and many will be showing up half an hour early or late to games. We really don't need 5 or 6 different start times, do we? For me, I'd have day games starting at 1:10 (with option for Sat. national game at 3:10 if we have any in the next few years) and night games starting at 6:30 across the board. I think most would enjoy that earlier hour and predictability, including the Brewers players.
  21. Kudos to you, too, for giving credit where it's due Too often these types of debates seem to result in entrenched, unchangeable opinions. I'm glad Villar has cut down on the baserunning mistakes. He's such a fun player to watch (perfect leadoff guy!), and it seems like the Brewers haven't had a good switch-hitter in a really long time. Trying to stay balanced is key. When I see a situation so terribly off balance (Villar daily/weekly doing easily correctable stuff on the bases), i have a tough time not commenting/venting. I care for the team and want to see good, smart ball, like most here. As Good of a switch-hitting Brewer season? Do we have to go all the way back to Teddy Simmons?
  22. How much better has Villar been on the bases! Unreal! Kudos to him! Also, kudos to CC for sitting the man down for a couple of games to get the message across that he was being stupid and hurting the team. My only question is..... did CC put up stop signs and did his approach change in regard to his dealing with Villar?
  23. E-mailed Rick Schlesinger..... According to him, "his eligibility for free agency has been delayed one year due to this assignment to the minors this season."
